Great job Barry T 👍 I love learning about the carburetors from the early engineering! The best way I have found to learn about them is to take one that you don’t care about but take it apart as though you do care and see if you can clean it and make it work again I did this on several Ford 8N tractors and it worked I don’t know if Ed would give me a passing grade but it did run the engine after so then I got brave and cleaned and rebuilt others but anyway you don’t need to hear my stories but I think you and Ed make great content so keep idling on 😀🇨🇦
@BarryTsGarageАй бұрын
Outstanding, Keith 👍👍 you describe exactly what Ed talks about how he learned things from an early age… Take it apart, fiddling with it and then put it back together and make it work, that’s how you learn things - the best way! Have a great week

I have always wanted to use total seal rings but my engine kit came with hastings moly rings. What is Ed's opinion on hastings moly or cast rings. My engine does seem to make good piston seal and no oil consumption or smoke. My engine has the cylinders cast right in the block like the old fashioned way.

I'm a firm believer of changing engine oil every 3 thousand miles. It drives me crazy when people think they can run 10 thousand miles between oil changes because they use synthetic oil.

I’m with you, there are so many videos if you want to look online, showing all the sludge and varnish that builds up… Even BMW has had to back down on their suggested intervals because of so many failures… It’s such cheap insurance 👍
@78bigten400Ай бұрын
I got a question for ya guys. Would it be smart to run the flat tappet lifters for a sbc with the small hole in the base of the lifter for oiling directly on the lobes since a lot of camshafts/ lifters are wiping the lobes nowadays it seems or is it not necessary
@BarryTsGarageАй бұрын
OK, I will take your question and ask Ed!
@78bigten400Ай бұрын
Thanks. I've been learning a lot from you two. Seen the oiling video on the 350 small block and did the mods to my 400. Runs great and I'm happy with the build
@jeffalvich9434Ай бұрын
@@78bigten400 the issue causing cam lobe lifter failure is the machine work .... typically.... On the cam lobes and/or lifter surface. The surfaces need to be slightly rounded (.001) or so so the lifters will rotate.
