Ling, you are right on the money. I've been married for 30 years. My wife has been a stay at home wife and mother for the majority of that time. I am a Healthcare provider and earn a very good living. With that said, I don't spend a cent, make any informed decisions or changes that affects my family without discussion with my wife. I do this because I respect, honor, equally partner with, and unconditionally love my wife and family. Do I have to. No. Do I need to. No. Do I want to. Yes. Marriage is the daily dying to your own self. Stay in love with dignity and respect. 30 years and counting.

It's "respect", not "permission". Asking for the other person's opinion or informing them shows that you care about them and that you value their opinion. It's nothing to do with permission.
@aquilono3 жыл бұрын
Respect or permission, that's just semantics. What's the difference? Ultimately, within a marriage you simply cannot just do what you want because now you're in a partnership, you are in a permanent state of compromise. Changing the wording doesn't change the meaning. Today we elevate our own individuality so much so that somehow asking permission from someone you love is considered a form of oppression, especially if it's a woman doing the asking from a man. Out of respect for It's just co-operation.
@lonen3rd3 жыл бұрын
@@aquilono It's not just in marriage. Even with your friends, when you know what you are about to do will affect your friend in some way, will you go ahead and do it because you're just friends? I assume No. If it's going to affect me, I deserve to know or give my opinion. Also, I'm talking about me. I'm sure there are others who would want to do things differently. To me, this is respecting the other person's feelings/emotions or valuing their opinion. For example, when you call your "partner" and tell them you'll be late for home, you aren't actually seeking permission to be late. You are letting them know because you don't wanna worry them. This is pure communication, nothing to do with permissions.

My daughter did the exact same thing, she brought a newborn puppy home without her husband's permission. I told her that she was wrong and she should discuss it with her husband and so she did. The husband said no I don't want a dog in my house. She disregarded his opinion and the dog was living with them the very next day. The husband of course was very upset to say the least, he argued with her to no avail, to make a long story short, he now grew the love the dog and he even take the dog for walks. The dog loves him and even though he loves the dog he would not admit it to this day. Husbands and wives should always come to the same agreement and not make rash decisions without consenting with each other. My daughter was lucky that her husband didn't toss her and the dog out. Thank you for sharing this topic Ling and Lamb.

Yes, Ling is right. Using the word permission is like between a child and a parent. The thing is that marriage is like sharing an apartment with your friend. You must understand that you are not the only one living in that apartment. You are sharing it with someone. So, you must discuss and share ideas that will benefit both you and your flatmate (significant other) because you both are different based on personality and behaviour. The Bible says, "come, let us reason together". So, it's not permission, it's having a reasonable conversation that will benefit both parties. Love you, ling and lamb. ❤

I am single. For good reason lol. This conversation has always been my outlook on what I want my relationship to represent (truly, not just look like it for the public and disrespectful behind closed doors) I’ve always stressed how the respect and communication, honest communication at that, needs to go both ways. One person cannot pour honesty and respect into the relationship and not get that back. It won’t work. Also I agree with if you do think that (selfish within the partnership or out for self) them that’s ok just be honest about that and not misleading and stay single. So simple but so complicated. Thanks for the conversation. Love you guys 🥰

She’s probably not even married 🙄 anyway I’ve been married for 28 years and I’m 47 so imagine all the things we had to learn. The things that has stayed consistent in our marriage is mutual respect, communication and consideration. Please! Thank you! May you! I appreciate you! Common courtesy goes a long damn way.

I love the way lamb is sooo comfortable with his Nigerian accent!!! Other Nigerians would work at throwing it away immediately they are out of the country. Keep being confident and original. And yeah, my husband is "my precious" (S Miguel's voice). We discuss all sorts of stuff;seeking "permission" all the time. It makes us so close.

Team work makes the dream work. You guys have a lovely partnership and so true, marriage or any relationship where you are building a life together requires communicating for the love and respect of it all. Most definitely makes for a happier union. It's not about permission as much as it is checking in with each other and talking about what impacts or may possibly impact the two of you ❤️
@adamstayo2 жыл бұрын
You are right lamb, there is a difference between permission and discussion. In marriage.

Right on L&L! To disregard or disrespect someone's presence in your life when making decisions that effect both people is wrong. If one goes out and decides to eat like a Hotdog... that's an individual decision but bringing in a live animal will effect all who live there. It is respectful and shows thoughtfulness for all involved in the living situation! It's not permission Ling seeks....it's that she loves and respects Lamb and how he feels about it. ♥️✝️♥️
@debrasalter33383 жыл бұрын
It's called having mutual respect for your partners wants, needs and opinions. It's not that you have to ask permission. If it effects both people it needs to be discussed. I don't understand why people don't understand that. I love you guys. ♥️🙏🕊️🕯️🌈

Its not permission, its respect!!

It's the word permission that takes the discussion to the next level.. marriage is not a one man army.. whatever choices you gonna make that will impact the home needs to b discussed first with your partner.

Absolutely correct! Two become One, under God! That means that communication and asking about the other spouses thoughts and boundaries becomes necessary out of respect and love for one another 💜💜 I love y’all, you two are a beautiful, loving couple and are showing other’s what a healthy marriage consists of, which includes communicating about anything and everything! Be well and be blessed Ling&Lamb 🙏🏼💜🙏🏼

I do not make decisions without first having conversation with my wife and we both agree on it. I am a system administrator/Azure Devops engineer but I have huge passion for music. My wife told me she do not think it's time for that yet backing it up with facts. I had to listen to her regardless of the pressure coming from friends and colleagues. This is because we are a team and it shows I respect her. In marriage it is ideal to seek permission from your partner before taking a major decision because directly or indirectly, there are lots of dependencies tied to your decision and if it goes wrong you won't be the only one to feel the impact.

Ling and Lamb, I need the video on making the Farina ball. The scenarios on the importance of communicating about permission, EXCELLENT!!! The only way you're going to have a happy marriage, a workable marriage, togetherness in the marriage. All right? Love you guys. Love💕
@michellepaz8752 жыл бұрын
Exactly. It's the way the commenter worded it.. she clearly has her own trauma that needs to be worked out. It's not "permission" to have a discussion over something with the person you're doing life with... The way it would be with a parent and child. It's just being considerate and wanting that person's input so you're on the same page. And honestly yes if we're living in the same house, yes you have to ask and consult with me about changes made in a space we both inhabit because the responsibility will lie on both of our shoulders.

Hello Ling and Lamb, I recently started watching you guys and found you two to be awesome. Thank you for having such great content and allowing us to be a part of your lives. On the subject of the woman, my first thought was if she was married the relationship is probably toxic and one sided. She seemed selfish in her comment. I totally agree with her " marrying herself" because with an attitude like that she is definitely bound to loneliness until it dawns on her to change her ways.

I so love this! This is exactly how my marriage is with my wife and I. Glad you all dropped these Gems to educate people on having a good relationship and respect for one another. My wife and I have been asked the same question as in regards to “PERMISSION”! These are our exact views and i am glad to see that there are other couples that live by these values as RESPECTING one another! Love and prosperity my beautiful people! ✊🏽
