Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! We’re back to answer your burning questions about the world of dating and relationships. Before getting to our callers, we discuss the Women’s World Cup, a woman who turned down an ice cream date for being the “bare-minimum,” and the deadly power of icks. We then get to our callers.
Our first caller has been dating someone for a month, and she’s worried she’s becoming emotionally ab*sive. She’s toeing the line between asking for what she wants and demanding unrealistic expectations, and isn’t sure what is too much. Our second caller is three months post break-up and is wondering whether he should reach out and fight for her. After his 8-year relationship ended, he’s not ready to give up, and wants to know if and how he can save what he’s lost. Our final caller’s best friend has been cheating on her boyfriend, and she’s not sure what to do. She loves her friend, and is worried about her friend group of enablers, but can’t stand by and watch her exhibit this toxic behavior.
“Just because you’re sad, doesn’t make them special.”

Love the podcast. Listen every week. The content is GREAT… I just have one *small* suggestion to improve your listeners’ experience: Example - Call no. 1. You often go round in circles for the last 5 minutes of the call after the caller has the “revelation”. Usually there’s an “Ah-ha!” moment when Nick hits the home run with the advice and the caller almost admits knowing what the root of the issue is deep down. And then sometimes the call drags on… kinda for the sake of it, repeating the same points over and over. I’ve noticed this a lot in recent Ask Nick episodes. The most entertaining and valuable parts for us are: understanding the problem, hearing nick’s advice and the “dance” between caller & Nick while they navigate the issue, hearing the “takeaway advice”, and then hearing that the caller has understood the advice. Perhaps the calls can be edited or guided in a way where they don’t drag on aimlessly towards the end. Then we would potentially get another call into the podcast! Not sure if this is an issue anyone else experiences with this podcast, or if I just get impatient and triggered by lots of repetition 😂 Again, absolutely love the podcast and this is my only pet peeve.

Yes, I totally agree with this! I love the podcast too but I usually skip past the segment to the next caller once the person gets the message and it’s wrapped up.

I often wonder if Nick’s repetition is intentional on his part. In my clinical practice I do that at times. It’s a psych technique.

An ice cream date sounds great. It’s like a coffee date in that it can be short if you’re not feeling it, but ice cream is even better than coffee. And it’s fun

That Reddit conversation 🤦‍♀️ I have definitely turned down second dates because the guy tried to downgrade the planned dinner date to a walk, and “maybe” a glass of wine. Or they tried to do a “want to hang out” last minute. But, first dates are definitely about seeing if you even vibe enough to go on a real date. Hopefully someone helps this girl have a reality check.

This opening is funny because I canceled a date last weekend because a guy told me the bar by my place was too far to drive. He couldn’t find someone open for afternoon drinks so he ask if I knew somewhere, I gave a cool bar by my place, and he said it was too far for him to drive. I then canceled to date and told him “Ok if u don’t wanna drive for me I think it’s best we don’t go out. I only want to go out with ppl who are excited to put in effort for me.” Was I in the wrong? Also be be fair I was just generally loosing interest in him

When some people Play hard to get. When the compatibility is like a Clown. Emotionally stress can be arguments every conversation. The honest truth not attracted because she is Mexican Chinese, he is European .She has the page turned, big ideas, beer money, Champaign taste. Emotionally ,stressful for his family, because of high up in a different way. Girl has replaced her mother with a friends mom. Some people need to grow up and be an adult. The humiliation of World War 2, when some related Germans, do not understand themselves, excuses hanging clothes in England back yards, in a bikini! Europeans washed clothes on Monday. The mask some people use to cover genocide,.or is it a Clown? The next generation is chunky, not that thin. Why pick on others who were up every morning, to earn a buck. Play this craziness,.nurses on disability with a $2000.00 dollar monthly income. Leave your children & grandson ,to live in paradise, is what matters. No religion, look what is inside those people ? The big fat hedge! Vacations are few, just work for what? I am not attracted to these people, let alone the vulgarity, of not knowing to wash her bedsheets! My grandmother's were mama's, plain cotton aprons, dressed for the occasion. Housewives ,cook, clean , wash clothes, on the bus for shopping bags of food. Look how high the hedge is even when put in hot weather. Girls that outsmart a boy, until he cannot mentally put up with it. Time to look into your nationality.

Nick has put Ali in a timeout for sharing gossip, lol. Perfect timing for Amanda to go to the Women's World Cup since the US misandrists got eliminated shamefully. First caller is delusional and desperately attracted to a guy who is probably juggling multiple women. She is missing the obvious red flags.
