They are all original, vintage. Some have never even been played. I love these things. The old 2663 with the triple coil pickup is great! Plus, you have to love the 1978 PS10. Cool axes.

I like the LSR roller nut because it allows the strings to go off in any direction after they pass through. So, wacky headstocks are not a problem with them where other roller nuts have real problems with strings that don't pass straight through to the tuners.

Actually, the last one I bothered to play was one I bought new in 1983. It was called a Bel-Aire. The very first night on stage, I went to do a dive bomb on the whammy and the entire bridge came out of the body! Every screw, springs, everything! It was all there, hanging by the strings from the headsock of my guitar. I'm lucky that didn't hit me in the head and kill me. lol I do love the SHAPE of the Cadillac. I had a custom axe made with that shape and 3 single coils.

Sure you can learn. My wife (who is also 56) just started playing, using only my videos and no personal help from me. She's doing fine and dandy. I have lots of folks in their 70's that are just starting and are playing the typical "Smoke On The Water" stuff the first day with no problems. You can do it. It's just wood and wires.

That question on changing speakers in the Amp .. The important part is the box interior volume is sized to the shape and throw of the speakers. Put the wrong speaker in there and it fights the air volume and cuts the system output volume and tone.

Hi Scott. Thanks so much for the tuning lesson. My Guitar sounds like it wants to be played at last. I have a US Stratvg with a Roland pick up. Great for quick change to open G for Stones numbers. Do you reckon that in the drop G that the intonation would be out or should the Roland electronics compensate?

Don't know if you are still answering questions since you're now on video 20. But I got up the courage to ask a question I may hate the answer to. Can a person that starts learning the guitar at age 56 ever be any good? I've been trying to learn since May and I'm really struggling. My fingers don't seem to ever get better at forming chords. No matter how much I practice, I'm just not improving at all. I've wanted to play the guitar since I was a kid and it looks like it's too late now.
@SarcastSempervirens11 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you decided to answer these via video, it's so fun to watch :D Also, glad you'd make people get rid of the brand names on guitars, I have a custom made one with no name, logo or anything anywhere on it and every other idiot keeps bitching about it, why, how, why, you can't have it like that, blah blah, but when they actually play it it's "Dude, I have nothing like this in my shop, where'd you get it?" Just pure bullshit.

holy shit, comments left on? turning over a new leaf? i got a question. you say kiss was your main inspiration, but you also say you are mainly a country/blues player. how/why did you make the jump from rock to country?

Scott, are you on some of those country albums that you mention as a credited player? I don't personally care and it makes no difference to me as far as liking you but I am just curious! Love your history and videos.

i dont understand the evertune thing.. does that mean you cant even bend notes?
@Flapjackbatter10 жыл бұрын
Yes. There is a pivot, and the string-tention holds the pivot from aboe, and a spring pulls on the pivot from below. So they are in balance. One such mekansim for each string. You can adjust this different ways. Imoh it's just a gimmic, that limits your guitar way too much.
@alexfields87859 жыл бұрын
i imagine itd be good for a beginner. when i started out i didnt have a tuner and i had to go to a friend to tune for me every time.. then again the system itself costs more than my first guitar did so you know.. maybe a digital tuner is a better investment. id hate a guitar i cant play the blues on.. by now almost everything i do depends on bends.. thanks for the explanation man.

You say it's not cool to be in band these days? That's not correct. It is cool to be in a band these days. You just have to be doing the right things and have something going on, whatever it is. In the right scene, in the right places. There's women who are into musicians, always will be. Trust me.
@stringmanipulator11 жыл бұрын
No I have not tried it, they are supposed to be a little better intonated but I guess on an electric guitar you could might as well adjust the bridge ? .. well I might be wrong :) (has happened before .. lol ) I was just so surprised that Scott didn't knew about them already, well he probably did he just forgot it :) I'm sorry I couldn't be of any help you have a good one
@wesmatron11 жыл бұрын
I'll add to that...I bought a Farida Hypersonic ... What the fk is one of those!? Yea, I know. Well, I tried that thing in the shop and it played like a dream and it gives some superb tones. The writing on the headstock in no way effects the playability or tone ;)
@Chilling4Shillings11 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on the Gibson Vs. Epiphone subject, The Epiphone electronics are pure shit, the pickups that come in the Epiphone guitars just suck I have an Epiphone SG Special (budget guitar) the action on it is great stays in tune and sounds fantastic (after I swapped the pickups for some DiMarzio's added a push pull for coil split and a mini toggle on off to throw my bridge pickup in and out of phase) People who have expensive guitars have played my guitar and liked it better than their own

Getting rid of brand names on guitars...that is fking genius. You'd have to try the guitar...you would actually look at the quality and playability. No more would manufacturers be able to slap out $1000 guitars with 60-year-old superseded technology on them merely because it has Fender or Gibson written on it. A lot of those other luthiers would get a fair crack.
