#askthevet Hi, I own a gypsy vanner cob gelding named Samson. We live in Florida and since it gets very hot here it makes it hard to ride since he doesn't do well in the heat. I have watched your video on riding in the heat and it was very helpful. But is there anything I can do to help him feel better in the heat? Is there a way I can help him nutritionally with this? Are there any exercises to help home get used to the heat? Thank you love Samson and Anna.

When riding in competition and out on the roads or trails, should I be using shoes, boots or barefoot? - Zoe Beard If my horse has sensitive feet should I put shoes on him or let him harden his feet on tough ground? - Zoe Beard What age is it best to start putting a horse into ridden work? - Zoe Beard I've noticed that with some saddle's the hind padding has been putting a lot of pressure on the horses mid back along the top of ribs and many horses I work with get very saddle sour with it and the owners have to buy a new saddle. So my question is, is there any way to avoid this or is there a particular padding you go for when purchasing a saddle? I can send through photos of what padding I'm talking about. - Zoe Beard Could Smartpak please do a series on the rider weight/horse ratio as it has became quite a controversy. I know there it can differ between horses and its got something to do with there ligament stretch and how legs have formed, the same as the back length, and the angle of the pasterns. It would be amazing it get an expert opinion and some facts around the issue. Thanks Smartpak

#askthevetvideo hey, just want to start by saying I love all your videos and they are so helpful! So I was wondering, does using a bit on a horse hurt them? I understand that there are many types of bits but I would think that all bits would hurt... maybe some might not hurt as much as others but it would still hurt or be very uncomfortable right? so many people have so many opinions and I would like to get an answer from an actual equine vet. - serena :)
