As it is, the roots will only grow and create more cracks...just dig up some dirt and chop the roots off about 15" from the wall all sides, that's if you want to keep the palm, that should give you a few more years before dealing with it again, but double check with an expert how much you can cut off without killing it

Can we get a level on that dryer vent? Think its off by 5 degrees lol.
@billloesch18842 жыл бұрын
Dryer Vent Comments: If you are determined to use flex vent, you need to expand (stretch) the flex and cut off excess. You are trying to make the vent wall as straight as possible. Better yet is to use rigid vent (but no screws to snag lint). Rigid elbows would offer less flow restriction as would long sweep elbows. Finally, the vent termination was easy to install using the boarded up window but now the termination is recessed from the exterior face of the house wall providing opportunities for increased wind induced turbulence. The sponsor is now preventing "Old House" from doing "due diligence"? Thanks for all the topics you cover.

I'm a professional stucco plaster for 25 years and yeah I work in San Diego but the way he said wire lath and throw the stucco to the wall and use something to do the textured is not correct. First wire lath second use cement to make a thin scratch third the brown that would be the finish so the actual stucco sticks to the wall fourth the not to thin stucco coat on the brown coat and fifth Pearson behind gets the finish trowel gets some stucco and do that textured finish FYI In the field we call it Lace And Skip Trowel Texture.

Absolutely no flex pipe and no louvered exhaust vent! Always adhere to the highest industry standards! Heavy duty galvanized or stainless rigid 4 inch dryer piping with no horizontal sections and the shortest run possible. 1 foot off the back of the dryer before the first 45 degree fitting. Tape every seam and use a single flap vent Hood with no obstruction or screen and a minimum of 2 feet from the ground, one foot is code but 2 feet is a higher standard.

thanks for this nice tutorial for fixing around household. does anyone know that on the top left side of the dryer has constant noice when operating , it is like something is scratching metal. but I think is not the belt, because I press down the top left side with little force , the noice totally disappeared, so very time I put a foam to squeeze the side panel, lucky me the washer just on the left side of the dryer. but I want to fix it , I am afraid it maybe gone damage something if I leave it alone for a long time. does any one know what is happen ? thanks.

what dryer needs more than 60A??? Here in Europe all the dryers are 220 to 240volt but only like 10A or something
@cloudstrifeification5 жыл бұрын
They don't need 60A! The standard electric dryer circuit here in the states is 240V/30A. That panel being only 60A is not big enough to handle the load. During the summer while the air conditioner is running if one cut on the dryer it would trip the main breaker. That panel needs to be upgraded.

Mark, I thought I heard you say at the beginning that the crack was too small for regular cement because it had aggregate, but then you widened the crack for the mortar. Couldn’t he have just made the crack big enough for regular cement? I ask because I need to do this at my house. Richard, you and I are old school but cotton diapers aren’t used much anymore - haha. Didn’t you say in other videos that you didn’t like the crushable or corrugated bent hose for dryer exhaust? This was a wide open easy to access space so why not use the metal smooth style exhaust? Not criticizing or second guessing, just curious? Maybe I’m old school again!

Stick with the Type-S mortar. It will bond/fill the crack better than regular cement with the aggregate.

How do I get rid of stucco siding? I have an old house in Kansas with failing stucco, due to moisture, heat and humidity. I'd like to get it all off the house and replace it with fiber cement siding. How does one go about it without taking a jackhammer to it?
@evanrocha54655 жыл бұрын
You have to see what’s exactly behind your wall. It’s probably embedded in some sort of wire mesh, then there’s a waterproofing paper barrier behind it and then there the sheathing or boards that make up the wall(before you hit your studs). If you want to install Hardie Board or something similar you have to attach it to your studs through your sheathing. So, you must rip out all the stucco. You don’t need a jack hammer just a flat bar, pry bar, demo bars(all of different sizes would be best) and a reg hammer and a mini hand held sledge hammer and just start knocking it off. Just make you if you are doing it by yourself you work on a section or one wall at a time so you can demo then apply your tyvek or whatever weather barrier you are going to use so your home doesn’t take on water while your doing your construction. If you want you can message me. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

In this case there is flat failure to meet building code with the use of a louvered dryer vent and flex pipe.
