The one thing I always think about when watching Cliff's videos is: What the hell is wrong with these kids today? Why are they so obsessed with science? Its like they cant trust anything unless they can see it and test it scientifically. That world view is bound to get you in trouble

+Alexandar Ostojic When you throw God out the window, We cling on to the most trivial Idea`s, philosophies and lifestyles for gratification which, at the end of the day, never satisfy. It is called having a reprobate mind. I see it all around me and it is depressing.

+Alexandar Ostojic Good point , easily answered , the deception of this world and its corrupted values is relentlessly bombarded on every body BUT especially on our young folk at every conceivable level , and in every possible way ... Remember that most of these kids would have never set foot in a church nor heard the Word of God, because it is banned in public schools and not taught at home. I work in a science dept at a high school where evolution is exclusively taught. Millions or billions of years of random evolution to get where we are today . Little wonder that these kids can only think in that way ,which is presented as un - challengeable and indisputable " science evidence " and not as merely unproved scientific hypothesis , which it is , and Cliffe points this out clearly. Scripture teaches us that God has written His Laws on all our hearts, hence some of the fiery debates as the searing truth of the risen Jesus hits home to some of these young folk . Cliffe does a great job sowing the seed ... God bless him and you !!! By the way : Dr Ben Carson in the White House might be a step in the right direction .

+Alexandar Ostojic It's a emotional reaction to something they cannot understand. Today's society is telling kids in the, what I call, The Age of Ignorance that emotions/feelings are everything. Along with the emotional reaction society is also tying in Relativism or Subjective Morality; "What's right for me is right for me and what is right for you is right for you." Essentially no one is wrong. So in a nutshell kids are being indoctrinated that if you feel a certain way your feelings are correct.

+Alexandar Ostojic Yes, after watching this video, I came to the very conclusion as you did. I think this is partly the education and academics to blame. I think philosophy should be a compulsory in every discipline in our university courses. I think now a days students are completely going in wrong direction.

Todays' " students are tomorrows citizens and as you say , are heading ... or are being herded unaware in the completely wrong direction ..... by "the enemy" . It only takes 1 generation not to hear the Word and then everyone does what is right in their own eyes ...and therefore there is no basis for morality , anything goes . Exactly as is happening today . Regards God Bless

when talking with somebody, it is important to confirm they are tracking with your position. Cliffe would answer the question, but the questioner would never show that he understood what Cliffe was saying. Instead, he would come up with off the wall ideas to suggest where Cliffe is wrong. Case in point: Cliffe says JESUS claimed to be GOD and rose from the dead. The questioner, instead of trying to understand what that means, tries to throw out the red herring of, "Science is doing things JESUS could never have imagined." Dude! JESUS is GOD! Not only could he have imagined it, but because HE is GOD, HE set the laws of the universe in motion so we could discover all these amazing things. The question is, for what purpose are we discovering these things? to make money? to get laid? to impress people? to gain power? to make life better for a people determined to ruin their lives?

Apologetics is very necessary and we are morally obligated because we have been called to carry out the great commission and it will take standing in defence of the faith.1st Peter 3:15 says it clear "but sanctify Christ as being Lord in your hearts always ready to make a defense to every one who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you yet with gentleness and reverence.

When someone starts the sequence of, 'How do you know...' questions, that is undermining all knowledge. *Let's turn that on the questioner, since he finds it compelling.* How does he know he exists? How does he know he is male? How does he know he is right about science? & On & on. The fact is, no matter the answer you can just keep asking like that to no end. It demonstrates you have no desire to find out if anything is true, but rather just to waste time. He is disrespectful to everyone there by doing that. He is wasting their lives on empty talk. If you cannot know anything about anything, why do you speak, eat, or breath? You don't know any of that is needed. Once he admits that he does know somethings, then he cannot rationally continue those questions or be a hypocrite.

Here is something to ponder, at about 17:00 Cliffe talks about the Sermon on the Mount, I've often wondered when Jesus was preaching this famous sermon, who was writing it all down?, was it all written verbatim as Jesus was speaking it? Did the author have to sit down with Jesus later, and go through it slowly to ensure it was all written down correctly as Jesus would have wanted ( that is certainly a possibility). Imagine if you were actually attending this sermon as it was happening, how much of it would you truly remember, possibly 40-50 % at most even if you had an incredibly good memory. There is a funny scene in the movie 'Life of Brian' where people at the back of the crowd can't quite hear what is being said and mistake some of Jesus's famous sayings, :Blessed are the peacemakers, is misheard as 'Blessed are the Cheesemakers'. That is probably much more true to life than people may think. We humans are very adept at getting things wrong and misunderstanding things.

+bonnie43uk Do some research into oral traditions.
@bonnie43uk
@bonnie43uk 9 жыл бұрын
+elkellenhabla I have read a little on oral tradition, like most other forms of communication it is very fallible. Our brains aren't designed to take in long speeches and then repeat them verbatim. How much of the sermon on the mount do you think you could repeat without referring to the New Testament for guidance? I know I would really struggle to remember only 10% if that.
@elkellenhabla
@elkellenhabla 9 жыл бұрын
+bonnie43uk It's incumbent on you to demonstrate that the Gospels need to be verbatim accounts of Jesus's sayings in order to be reliable in presenting the principles of Jesus's teachings.
@bonnie43uk
@bonnie43uk 9 жыл бұрын
elkellenhabla Hmmm, I don't think I said they need to be verbatim accounts, are you saying the record of what was said in the Sermon on the mount speech is not accurately presented in the New Testament. I'm merely making the point that as Jesus was giving this important speech for all of humanity, was it being faithfully recorded for posterity?, if so who?. Wouldn't you have loved to have been a fly on the wall to see how it came about. I don't think it does any harm to be critical. Were they entirely Jesus's words or perhaps the author added some of his own.
@elkellenhabla
@elkellenhabla 9 жыл бұрын
+bonnie43uk there is indication that the Gospels were written for posterity: John 20:31 NLT [31] But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name. Luke 1:1-4 NLT [1] Many people have set out to write accounts about the events that have been fulfilled among us. [2] They used the eyewitness reports circulating among us from the early disciples. [3] Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write a careful account for you, most honorable Theophilus, [4] so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught.

Cliff: you don’t trust your mind? Student: no! You can’t trust your mind! I trust the collective minds of others around me! What I wish cliff had said: Do you use your mind you said you can’t trust to understand the minds around you that you do trust? Ergo, you can’t even trust the minds around you cause you use your unreliable mind to interpret what they say. Atheism is ABSURDITY!!! This is the thinking and logic of the students in such a fine university? I fear for our future. To deny God is to deny logic in acceptance of the irrational

@@mikerussell2590 I’m mainly taking issue with the phrasing “source of truth”. Rather, all other truths are derivative from him, downstream of who he is. In that sense, there is nothing on par or upstream of Christ.

@bonnie43uk
@bonnie43uk 9 жыл бұрын
+tee saw Hi tee saw, surely it would be far more reliable coming from his own hand, this was supposedly the son of God, his word would have been perfect and unmistakeable, what we actually have with the 4 gospels are shrouded in mystery as to who wrote them, no original copies. He could have written his word on a material that was impossible to erase/edit/destroy, being the supernatural being he was, he could have appeared all over the globe to different civilizations at the same time in history with exactly the same message. If he could perform all these supernatural miracles written in the bible that would be nothing to Jesus.
@bonnie43uk
@bonnie43uk 9 жыл бұрын
+Alex Bustos Hi Alex, to the best of my knowledge Abe didn't rise from the dead. But that's not really the point. Jesus could have written his message to mankind anytime prior to his death. Rather than leave it to others to write decades after he died. During his life and ministry nobody wrote a single word about Jesus, no follower of Christ who saw him perform all those miracles bothered to write any of it down at the time. That does seem more than a little suspect to me.
@teesaw8197
@teesaw8197 9 жыл бұрын
+bonnie43uk yeah he could of done those things. it most probably would've been easier for people to believe in him. But the way he communicates truth is entirely up to him I guess. I can't believe, just because he could've of presented truth another way. It's dishonest. Anyway its clear that he didn't need to write his own gospel because there are hundreds of thousands Christians today. Granted there are some false converts and that this religion Christianity was forced upon some people. But there are still a lot of true believers in Christ.

Charles Pollock it depends on whether you're an optimist or a pessimist, a visionary or a pragmatist - a small documented miracle would be nice - otherwise, why couldn't it have been Zeus, Odin, Krishna, Mitra, Ra, Ahura Mazda - depends who you ask - not to argue against Christianity, just wondering if spirituality is simply a frame of mind, or something greater coming in from outside - Pentecostals talk in tongues, but Genesis is refuted by geology - so which is more true, it's a mystery

And Genesis isn't refuted by geology at all support your claim with evidence please have a great day
