The biggest contridction I ever heard came from Mr. Beer that while he said he's an "independent-thinking" human being, within the same statement he says he gathers his morals from all sorts of lifestyles. That is the epitome of dependency!

Holz Name It's not dodging the question it shows that Mr. Beer initial reasoning is overwhelmingly faulty. So when Cliffe recognized that fact fact there is no reason to answer a question based on faulty logic. That's Logic 101.
@jrc99us8 жыл бұрын
“Where is the faulty reasoning? It is a fact that there are over 30,000 Christian denominations with contradictory believes.” So what? The main reason of 30,000 denominations is because of cultural differences. “For example, Jehovah Witness believe that Jesus is not God,” Jehovah Witnesses are not Christian. “the Calvinists believe that who goes into heaven is predetermined, all in contrary to Evangelical and Orthodox.” The Bible is the source. “Michael Servetus was even killed by John Calvin over a dispute how to interpret scripture.” Irrelevant! The act of men doesn’t change the objectivity of the Bible. “For most of the history the contradictions in scripture were resolved by violence among Christians. See the history of Roman Catholic vs. Protestant.” Again irrelevant. Erwin Müller

at 25:18 Cliffe says, "Be skeptical, analyse", I wholeheartedly agree, it's a fundamental part of being human to constantly ask questions about things you have doubts about.
@nikokapanen829 ай бұрын
Yes, this is very true, however, there are two very different ways to be skeptical. One way to be skeptical is when you do not want something to be true because it does not benefit your selfish desires, so you reject it not because it is wrong but because you do not want it to be true. Another way to be skeptical is that you see that it is illogical or just not right so you cannot accept it because you do not want to believe in falsehood and would need more clarity and learning about it before making a decision whether it is to be accepted or not.

@@nikokapanen82 Hey nico, good to hear from you, wow, this is an old comment, 9 years ago. I see where you're coming from, and certainly there are aspects of Christianity that I absolutely object to ... the concept of an eternal hell being an obvious one, .. not only because i do not want to go to such a place, but the thought of *anyone* spending eternity in hell is abhorrent. But on the flip side, there are other things I would *love* to be true, a truly loving God who cares for us and wants the best for us is a very nice thought, but, as I look at the world around me, I do not see *any* credible evidence of such a God, .. eg: cancer in babies?? A natural world can explain this much better than a supernatural world.
@nikokapanen829 ай бұрын
@@bonnie43uk Hi Tom. I was suggested this older video by KZbin so I watched it and saw your comment, so I decided to reply. Yes, these questions you are bringing are the most crucial issues there can be. Do you know this thousands of years old philosophical dilemma that all the theologians and philosophers have been pondering about: “Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?” - Epicurus. (Greek philosopher) I was pondering about this dilemma as well for quite some time, thinking that if God truly is all good then He must desire to create an all-good universe without any evil pain or suffering at all, and if He is truly all-powerful then He must have the powers/ability to create such universe. Then what is going on? Why don't we see such a perfectly good universe? Later I got it. God clearly gave me the understanding that He truly is all good meaning that He truly does desire to create an all-good universe where nobody does any evil and nobody suffers at all and that He truly is an all-powerful God meaning that He does have the powers and the ability to do it, to create perfectly good universe. Yet then comes the catch; because even God Himself must act according to the laws of logic, this means that to be able to accomplish such a task and create a perfectly good universe, a hard, time-consuming, and painful process must take place first where the eruption of evil and suffering was inevitable and unavoidable but only for a finite amount of time. In other words, if we have an all-powerful and all-good God, why don't we see an all-good universe? It is because we have not yet reached that time. God said in the Bible that He will make all things new; this is literal, all will be made new and in that new order no evil no pain no corruption will exist at all.

I’m an atheist who was previously Christian and my reason for becoming atheist is: back in middle school I was bullied and sometimes I would pray things would get better and every time it got worse to the point I had to transfer schools so I asked myself why would I believe in a being that cannot be proven to exist if said being has not shown that it cares about me. And I am watching these videos because I would like to return to being a Christian

Hi friend, I am sorry that was your experience through school. The Lord doesn't necessarily promise to take away our pain. But he doesn't promise to be with us in our troubles and sorrows. Like King David in the Psalms. (Psalm 23) Though I walk in the darkest Valley, I will fear no evil. For you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Job also comes to mind. He lost everything near and dear to him in a short period of time. He still chose to cling to the Lord. Even Jesus himself was literally perfect. All he did was glorify his Father, do the work his Father set out for him to do and tell the truth and he was killed. Though the Lord did not answer you in the frame of time and in the way you felt you needed at the time I know if you continue to do what he says in Matthew 7 and 'Ask, Seek and Knock', he will come to you. He is not going to play games or hide n' seek with you. The Lord will answer you in more than words. I pray that this finds you in the time you have.

Hi Clifford, to the best of my knowledge, atheism isn't a philosophy, it's simply a lack of belief in God, I think you'd struggle to find a dictionary definition which describes it as a philosophy. I consider myself an atheist, but I don't consider myself to have a particular "atheist philosophy". My philosophy in life may well be pretty close to your philosophy,ie: be nice to other people, treat them in a way you'd like to be treated, help those in need whenever possible, etc etc.
@cliffordsy42499 жыл бұрын
bonnie43uk Let me kindly rephrase atheism. As your oxford dictionary says. Disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of god or gods. So its not only lack of belief. It is stating disbelief in gods existence. And the reason why atheism has trouble explaining its philosophy because it just cant. Its a world view that doesnt really have one as bonnie43uk claims to admit. The do good onto others. Our meanings are very different bonnie. In athiesm the good justifies based on relativism based on society and ultimately oneself. While as thr christian its a whole different thing. So our basis not as close as you would think.
@bonnie43uk9 жыл бұрын
clifford sy The only people who talk about "atheist worldviews" are religious people. Atheists come in all shapes and sizes and differing opinions, the *only* commonality we all share is a disbelief in God. I disagree with Richard Dawkins for example who would like to do away with all religion, i think religion has it's place within society and think for some people it's something they need. Religion will not be going away any time soon i think.

I like what he says at the end. I can relate alot. I know alot of the time i dont pay attention to Jesus. Im disobedient, how much times i dont know, but i know and acknowledge im a sinner and wish i was more committed. I should be in prayer every day, in the bible every day, but i get distracted easily, fall into sin, mske terrible choices, get myself into akward situations that i know is fault to begin with because of the choices ive made. But i do strongly feel that God has answered my prayers, of giving me a heart to love what He loves and hate what He hates. I use to enjoy sin, which now sounds terrible. I still sin and fail terribly at times. I know i fail every day, sins im aware of and sins im not aware of. My true hope is in Jesus that He will continue to mould me to be like Him. Change my heart. Give me a heart that would desire to be obedient and to desire to be like Jesus, and look upto Him as the only perfect father figure and role model in my life. Knowing fully well i cant be anything like Jesus because im a sinner, and have rebelled against God. In my life countless times. I do feel though i can relate to Paul the apostle, who said why do i do the things i dont want to do. After i fail miserably, i ask myself why why why. But it does show me, that God is changing my heart. I feel like my heart is not into sin how it use to be. I hate the fact i fail.God every day and hurt His feelings. But we can also ask in prayer God give me a heart that would hunger and thirst after righteousness. Give ne a heart that would hunger and thirst after knowledge and wisdom. The absolute best thing i see to do is to never ever give up, and turn to Jesus as much as possible for everything. Because He will absolutely NEVER EVER FAIL US, NEVER FORSAKE US. Trust in Jesus because He is the author and finisher of our faith. And Jesus is the only way to eternal life in heaven. And we can always turn to the holy bible anytime, as Jesus speaks to us through the bible.

Cliff pretty much spanked this guy up and down. But I feel bad for him the enemy tainted this young boys mind to the point where he couldn't even think rationally. This is the first time I've seen someone cheer for a Christian and embarrass an atheist. Very refreshing. I hope that young man finds CHRIST.

Cliff, what is your opinion about the Catholic church and how close they are to Yeshua? I am curious as a Christian and I admire your guts by going into debate over and over! Stay blessed & Baruch Hashem!

I dislike the comment from the anonymous guy in the end (19:24) who said towards the atheist, "dude you're embarrassing yourself". We have to treat these debates with respect. The ultimate reason for these conversations is to get us closer to god, to think skeptically, to ask questions in order to get closer. So try your best to not laugh because that will only discourage people who are are already far from the truth.

Sometimes its Godly to point out to someone, they are embarrassing themselves. In the right time and place.

It was another atheist telling him that. He was saying to step down because Cliff was looking good.

Agreed, but I think that was already brewing and he sealed it when he insulted the audience @ (15:43 ) ... not saying it was right, just saying...

Thank you sir. We who follow Jesus, strive to walk in his steps. We make mistakes and do stupid things but, we do not place our faith in "christianity" we place our faith in the trustworthy, factual evidence that Jesus is our God and Savior. He said that he will lose none of those who the Father has given him, and he said that anyone who comes to him, he will not turn them away. Our Savior is loving, but just.

16:49 Young man wants to argue with the fact that the Bible was written in the bronze age. Meanwhile in 480 BC there was the battle of Thermopylae, and the main source was a man named Herodotus. Can we say the same thing about Herodotus and his claims? 🤔🤔🤔

This guy has a real flair for theatrics. I think we have Hitchens, Dawkins, etc. to thank for that.

Always wondered where these people ended up. I was like this guy when I was in college in 2005. Only recently after having a child of my own have I started to change my position from atheist to believing in god. I’m on my way towards Christ but haven’t figured everything out but I can remember being like this guy was. I wonder if he’s continued on or if he’s changed as I have.

Thank you Cliff. Just one thing the apostle Paul says we have the mind of Christ he also say we have the new nature not the old nature. Bare with me Cliff The old self was crucified with Christ Jesus and wasn't resurrected. It is to do with faith in Christ. God said me in a service about 14 years ago you have done enough Noel. I was trying so hard to please God. But he got me with his love❤
