From Reddit: "Taking a moment to remember the copycat suicides. For some context, I have a huge binder filled with Nirvana journalism (I can’t even lift it anymore it’s so full) and a huge portion of it is clippings from the aftermath of Kurt’s death. I was reading a small article in my binder released not long after Kurt’s death and it’s based around the copycat suicides that occurred after he died. And it really moved me. Obviously there’s the more famous death of the man who shot himself after attending the vigil in Seattle, but i read about one particular copy cat that just made me bawl. Two teens killed themselves in their car (I can’t remember the exact details I will have to dig out the article) but they left a note and Nirvana was left playing in the stereo. This story just broke my heart. I know that there was also many more instances of people who ended their life because their hero did, and it’s just too damn sad. These people were clearly already on the edge and stuck in the dark void and I feel like they aren’t acknowledged enough so I wanted to make a post discussing them."

yes, i know, but as i said, he was on a downward spiral that nothing could pull him out of. after Frances was born Courtney had to call the cops on him twice for domestic violence, at least one of these instances had to do with his heroin. and of course, when Courtney told him he had to quit his addiction or at least get help for it, for their baby's sake, he took some money and left. he was a good dad, or at least tried, up to that point. it's sad what addiction can do to people.

He was a huge feminist and he obviously loved Courtney very much, but if those rumours were true, I wouldn't be surprised as he was extremely mentally ill. in fact, I've heard stories of the opposite, where Courtney was being abusive to Kurt. it's possible the abuse went both ways, but if anyone has any reliable sources let me know.
