I agree with everything your saying, however, there is a difference between being "depressed" (as people commonly use it) and having depression. What you're describing is a person with depression, which is a mental issue/mental disease. What she was talking about is people being depressed in the sense of being upset with something, or being stressed, or even being overall lethargic. And regarding that, I agree with her. You shouldn't wallow or mope, because that could even aggravate and escalate to a more serious issue.

People (not just women, a lot of people) aren't going to come out and say that depression is a turn off, but it certainly is. I often have problems with hygiene and communication when I'm in a depressive episode, which are obviously turn offs. That being said, depressed people, if you hear someone you are interested say shit like "suck it up, you're just sad" or other ignorant comments, don't get caught up. It's not your fault that the other person can't empathize with you. Make it clear it's not going to work and you are someone who needs more patience and understanding. It's going to take time, but there are people out there who both understand and would love to nurture you despite your depression. Im waiting with yall, keep your chins up.
