People in America seem to know more about Sweden now than they did in the 80's, even if they apparently still mix Sweden and Switzerland up. On my first visit to America one of my cousins was very surprised when she understood that I could read English. On an other occasion I followed my aunt to the grocery store to help her carry. She met a friend of hers and introduced me. Her friend asked my aunt "Does he know English". I remember it was hard not to laugh at her.

Most of the people the Jimmy Kimmel show tends to interview on Hollywood Blvd. or in Santa Monica are usually tourists from around the U.S. and world. Its a little rare to find an LA native on Hollywood Blvd. You are more likely to see LA natives in downtown LA however along with some transplants from other cities/states (which it seems that's where Stefan interviewed people). Downtown LA has greatly gentrified and built a lot of public rail transportation in the last 20 years attracting a lot of natives and transplants. I live in the LA suburbs and tend to know a little bit more about Sweden than most Americans because I worked for IKEA and they gave us a crash course in Swedish culture from vocabulary, to traditions, to trying Swedish foods and fika. Although not my first choice, I do enjoy the various ways Swedes marinate, smoke, preserve their herring. Also all Swedish pop culture references--H&M, Nobel prize, ABBA, Ingrid Bergman, Skarsgårds, Zara Larsson, Avicii, Pewdiepie, etc. familiar with all but only follow some :)

Me too. I worked for IKEA for a time in LA as did my sisters. Its pretty well known among younger people and LA metro has more stores than most U.S. cities and there's been plenty of tv adverts in the recent past. To be fair though there is a lot of competing retail in LA and the conurbation has 18 million people, so it figures not everyone might be familiar with it. Plus the city is made up of a lot of transplants from around the U.S., many from smaller towns and cities where there is no IKEA present yet.

Skype is from ESTONIA! Well the core group was multinational and had one Swede in it, but the 4 developers were from Estonia. The legal entity called Skype was registered in Estonia. One point close to 50% of all Skype employees were working in Estonia. And finally, Microsoft credits Skype as 'an Estonian start-up': www.microsoft.com/en-us/stories/skype/skype-chapter-2-welcome-to-estonia.aspx

The reason that Sweden is so rich and has such a low population is because: In the early 20th century Sweden got hit by a ecomomic crisis. This caused a hughe chunck of the population to move to other countries (mainly america). When the country got back on its feet again there a lot less people and a lot more mone to give to these people. Plus: Sweden has a lot of forested areas witch mainly seved as a way to build hoses and furniture. But since a hughe chunk of the population was gone there was a hughe chunk of trees that was mainly useless and took up space. So they they sold the trees to other countries witch they made tons of money for. So Sweden quickly became one of the richest contries in the world!

not to be that guy but - try naming all US states. Sure they might not be that great at naming other countries here but on the flip side a lot of people here would be hard pressed to do the same with their local geography.

I'm so happy with their answers, I honestly thought they for the most part where going to say negative things like "no go zones" "failed Muslim immigration" and stuff like that. I see so many comments about that on social media about Sweden which makes me sad though it's very excessive. I know what I'm talking about though I live near those so called "no go zones" witch I got many friends. Yes there are many problems in Sweden due to the mass immigration, but the misery in Sweden is NOTHING compared to the misery in the US. Sweden is not a failed nation which many seems to think (or wish ?).

what i know Sweden isnt worldly known for neither cheese or chocolate. even tough we make both of them pretty well. But like some people mentioned before they probebly thinking about Switzerland. And not really true that there are no polar bears in Sweden, we do have them at some zoo´s like Kålmården i believe.
