I just used your Dakgalbi recipe. There were a few ingredients I was missing, but Aaron’s voice came to me like a wise ancestor and said “Don’t worry about it. Use what you have.” No sweet potato, but I have carrot. 🥕 I cut the pieces wide so they can boil long with the chicken. I ran out of green onion 😢, but I have shallot. I ran out of chicken stock and was about to reach for vegetable stock, but I found a chicken seasoning packet leftover from cheap ramen in the drawer. And finally, no corn syrup. So I used two tablespoons of honey. 🍯 Unfortunately no perilla leaf but that’s ok. I have everything else! It still came out SO DELICIOUS! It’s a tasty spicy & sweet dish! The sauce coated well and was never runny after I boiled all the water out. While it boiled, I washed the dishes I made dirty from chopping and mixing. Thanks for helping me make dinner again Aaron & Claire! Now I have another recipe I can make fast and easy! ❤️

Aaron, you are a super chef!!!! My goodness young man, you amaze me with your talented cooking. And I love to watch your videos for several reasons. You are precise in explaining everything, from cutting, marinating, the sauce, to cooking. I like that. And I think you and Claire are such a joy to watch. The two of you are so happy and delightful to listen to and watch etc. And to top it off the fantastic recipes you present to us are wonderful. I have never really used a lot of chicken breast in all my 70 years, because of the fact it does dry out. But watching you do these I will definitely try it. I don't really care for poached, but your frying method looks so good. Thanks to both of you and I applaud you for your work and sharing with us. Take care and be safe. Claudia from Michigan

Hahaha You guys are so cute!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🙈 About your question, there's a possibility that the rice cakes itself were a bit dried before cooked or they were cooked too long. So if they are not soft enough already, I suggest soaking them in warm water for about 10 mins beforehand. Hope this answer might help you! 😊

I really wish I knew where to find green onion like theirs. Aaron always seems to have green onion comparable to a leek in width. The largest we have in stores nearby (60mi) are like pencil width but flavorful! So, it’s hard to judge how much to roughly use or if they’re even comparable.
