My SOWP got refused yesterday. Reason given is irrelevant, that I don’t work in NOC B where as all the documents shows that I am working in Canada in the above mentioned NOC. Even pay slubs are given with proper bank statements. IRCC is rejecting applications after the new rule. My category no longer is in new list. What to do? Please guide me. My spouse is in India.

given the processing time of pgwp app which is more or less 135 days, and usually the original permits for sp and sowp expire 3 months after the expected completion of studies. say IS have a teer2 job and is waiting for pgwp result, sowp will expire before the possible release of the pgwp approval. say sowp applied after january 21st, techinically both are under maintained status. is the sowp not eligible bec there is no approved pgwp result yet? shld the sowp stop working once the original permit expires even though he is on maintained status?

Sir, I have completed a 2-year study program in Canada. My wife is currently working in Canada with a spousal open work permit (SOWP). We applied for my Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and her SOWP extension together (Sep-2024), and both of us were issued 6-month temporary work permits. At the time of applying, I had not secured a job. However, I have since obtained a TEER 3 job and have submitted my updated job offer letter via the IRCC web form. Our applications are still under process. Could this affect the approval of my wife's SOWP extension?

Only 6 months? Why did you get only 6 months of WP?

If you write 6 months of work permit, people will get confused. Instead, write WP-EXT letter, and it's valid until a decision is made. Anyway, I think you will get your extension since you have applied before 21st Jan.

What about the spousal work permkt extension previously issued under pgwp of spouse but the spouse pgwp was issued for a shorter duration due to passport expiration, can the spouse of principal applicant apply for sowp after getting the extension for the pgwp of the principal applicant? Will the new rules apply to them aswell?

I am in the same condition. Due to passport expiry, me (PGWP) and my spouse Sowp only got 1.5 years. I am not sure new rules applied to us. If applied, my PGWP has to valid 16 months? I am confused.

Hi Kubeir, Regarding these rules affecting the In Canada spouses already accompanying Students. Don't you think there is no logic in that rules for students graduating April 2025. First of all it is nearly impossible for a student graduating April 2025 to get a full time job offer while studying, they need the PGWP to get a job offer as most companies ask and look for that. Most of the spouses open work permits are aligned with study permit which generally ends in 3-4 months after studies get over. now with the processing time of almost 4 months for PGWP. How can IRCC expects students to get a job exactly after education without the work permit and with the current processing time. And by the time students PGWP gets approved their spouse open work permit would have expired. I hope they will understand this flaw and try to fix this. Otherwise it's makes no sense Would like to know your opinion on this? Thanks

Pgwp and Sowp both expired on July 14,2024 and applied for Cwp and Sowp extension on July 10,2024 and the lmia was approved on June 07,2024. We are still waiting for our work permit application’s decision, If Primary wp holder get 2 year wp till Jan 2027 and secondary wp holder will only got wp till June 2026 because of passport expiry then will secondary wp holder will be able to extend his wp till Jan 2027? Please let me know

@@fakhrulislamhaqwe are not allowed to renew passport before more than 1 year. We can renew in June 2025 or later as the passport is valid till June 2026. Wp application was applied on July 2024 which was almost 2 years before expiry of passport.

Hi Sir, i am on my closed WP in TEER 1 noc code job and my WP was given till May 1 2025 ay port of entry and so ill be applying for extension through my company.my Spouse on SOWP based on my closed WP and have his SOWP expiring on May 1 2025 as well. In this case, with my implied/maintained status can i apply for my Spouse SOWP? Or i need to wait till my wp approval to apply for his extension? In that case he might lose his status if ny extension takes some time beyond May 1 2025. Should i extend him as visitor then in case? The thing here is time as both of our WP is expiring on same day.
