🤠 CSR for me. Fav features are 3x on travel, dining, and you can get 3x on online groceries. $300 annual travel credit that can be spent outside of their portal is my favorite benefit. sapphire lounge at LGA is one of the best airport lounges

🤠Issue for me with the Platinum is the Centurion Lounges are always crowded and Escape lounges are now Priority Pass lounges. I like flying internationally in business class on points which always includes lounge access so kind of defeats the purpose there. Plus domestically I fly Southwest to DC and Vegas. Venture X is just cheaper and simpler without all the hoops and hurdles. If you want hotel status, just get a hotel card like the Aspire or Brilliant which pay for themselves.
@jasonspain3554Ай бұрын
For my use, the Venture X is perfect. We're a family of four with my two boys just starting college. So the free authorized users along with their own Priority Pass is great. I typically travel domestically 2 times a year and internationally maybe once a year or once every two years. My home airport is Chicago and there are no Centurion or Sapphire Lounges. Once my kids are out of college I may travel more often and at that time pick up the Sapphire or Platinum. But for now the Venture X is perfect!
@luisserrano863Ай бұрын
I currently have all 3, but since they have some overlap with priority pass and I want to cut down on annual fees, I told myself to only pick one. I decided to get rid of Venture X and Chase Sapphire Reserve and keep the Charles Schwab Platinum since it delivers the most value even though it has the highest annual fee of all 3 cards.

🤠 I honestly think Chase has to come up with something fresh, and with great values. Because I completely don’t understand why each trifecta card has Chase Travel portal access, why all of them has 3x dining and why you need 3x on 2 cards for pharmacies? I would love to see Chase adding groceries as a separate category, as well as gas / ev. Not sure if with new rumored cards we will have some worthwhile changes (we - normal people, not Chase Private customers ;) For me it’s Venture X for now at least. It was such a no brainer (with getting maximum value out)

Enjoyed the video. I hold the CSR & AMEX Platinum and track the math very closely on both to make sure I'm getting "value that I value" for the fees. One item I would emphasize more with AMEX (maybe b/c we live out in the BURBs in VA) is Walmart +. Getting that fee reimbursed provides us significant value. We get groceries delivered to the house and a nice discount on gas at their gas station. It also includes Paramount +. It effectively becomes an nice alternative to Amazon for MANY items b/c you get the free delivery but do not have to pay the membership fee. My two cents. Keep the great content coming.

Loving the platinum so far. The hotel status perks combined with all the credits make its value prop have a very high ceiling. People who complain about the credits complexity want easy fixes, which is fine… but the ceiling of the platinum is the highest by far and it’s not even close. However, I may try to just use the venture X one day and combine it with hotel keeper cards that grant status. Seems you can achieve something similar that way with less annual fees. I definitely think there isn’t a one size fits all solution
@mattleathen445Ай бұрын
I’m sympathetic to the complaint against the Amex coupon books. I get great value from the Platinum, but I’m not super excited to add more Amex cards with similarly complex credits. A second one might be manageable, but 3 would be too much work and ‘forced’ spend.
@thedman05Ай бұрын
@ I can see that. I only have the platinum and gold, but admit that having a whole bunch of other cards that have a bunch of things to track sounds tedious and eventually the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. I think it’s definitely one of the things you can only do so much of before it wears on you

Do you think this is a good plan? Or should I wait and get the amex platinum? I see both card working in my favor for the future.
@rebeltheharem7028Ай бұрын
IMO, you can get either Chase or Amex Platinum, and then combine one of the two with the Venture X. Why? Because the $300 travel credit (with the introductory offer), and $100 annual travel bonus more than make up for the annual fee, every year. So even if you use it just for that one hotel to book on their travel portal, it more than makes up for the cost (you were going to book it anyways, so why not?), even if it is 5% more expensive (though I have generally found it to be only 1~2 percent more expensive). Its also a pretty decent catch all with the 2% for "all other purchases". If you have a lot of time on your hands, you can probably get value out of having all 3 of them, just based on the credits alone.

CLEAR credit, about $150. Saks credit, maybe 50%. Last year we used the hotel travel credit at the Kerry Hotel in HK and loved it, it’s in Whampoa on the harbor, every morning (or evening) we rode the Hung Hom ferry to or from Central for HK $10. Plus use Centrurion Lounges at least 6x a year and maybe a couple Priority Pass too. So easy win. 🤠

Venture X was an easy choice for me. x2 on EVERYTHING, $300 travel credit, 10K anniversary bonus, Hertz President's circle, amazing lounge perks including free guest/authorized users, price match guarantee, and a $120 credit for Global Entry. I could use all of these perks, whereas for Amex Platinum or CSR, I would have to go out of my way to reap benefits - at that point those aren't real benefits. I have a CSP and WoH to go with my Venture X. Cancelled by Venture, Amex Gold. 🤠

Chase has by far the best $300 credit in the market right now. There's no hoops or leaps on that. The card also offers the best Travel protections and offers great travel partners.

The Venture X has been my first foray into the premium travel card market and am enjoying it so far. Question - I am looking to add the Savor so I can fill in some better bonus categories (Dining and Groceries). I've read you should wait six months from opening one credit to opening another, but is it really that bad if I don't wait? My credit score is around 800-ish and am not really planning on making any other big moves that would impact it. Thanks so much for your great content! If you're counting the Uber credit for Platinum I think it's only fair you count the $25 in monthly Doordash credits for the Reserve, which lowers the effective annual fee for that to as little as -$50 depending on how useful the credits are to you, particularly the two monthly $10 non-restaurant credits which depends on if you normally get food from Sheetz/7-eleven/other places that qualify and have pickup as an option.

@@AskSebby I'm not an expert on these (and that's why I'm kinda replying to this), but I think the issue is that people are now becoming likely aware of things like the Chase Trifecta, or the Capital One Duo (I think?), or the Amex Plat+Gold, but the questions would be like, is it worth it to have all of them? Should you have a set or can you get by with a standalone (you may have done something like that already, I can't remember r/n)? And if you should get a set which would it be and if it depends, why? And you kind of alluded to it in the video, but if you're looking for aspirational travel, which set is the best? If you're just looking for using it for regular travel (assuming transfer partners) which is the best and if it depends by which hotel chain or which airline, then which? And then there are questions w/r/t hotel chains even too. Like I got the basic Hilton Amex ($0 fee) since I stayed at their hotels, but I struggle to find good value (I can't even find places when I travel to get $0.006 per point like they say it's worth) so while I considered layering cards to get more points, I think it's not worth it based on the fact I can't seem to get good value for them - but maybe I'm doing it wrong, though if I am I don't know why. Meanwhile, I may get the Hyatt card instead because it seems like getting value from their program is a LOT easier, even thought I have the CSP and I can transfer points already. I also made mistakes as I was learning like not going for Capital One early, which makes getting the Venture X now really hard (I did manage to get my foot in the door with the Savor One so hopefully that's a start), or instead of applying for the Amex Platinum I upgraded the Gold instead which was a big whoops considering you can't get the welcome Plat bonus as a result. To that point maybe a useful video (though maybe not in your scope or target audience) is to say which order you should get these sets of cards (I think the correct order is Capital One, then Chase then Amex, but why?).
