You are awesome! You have helped me so much with my rescue pigeon. His name is CLEO and my neighbor has racing pigeons. He was attacked by a hawk in exercise flight and came in my backyard very hurt. I took him to my neighbor and of course he said he didn’t think he was going to live.Nine months later he is my best friend. He will never be able to race again or take exercise flights. He was three months old when I found him and he just turned one year old. The vet said he is a very healthy and lucky bird. Thank You!😀

I sometimes feed the pigeons in my local park peanuts and they love them. They absolutely vacuum them up!

Thanks for answering my question! I'm currently using wild bird seed mix & just dropping tiny handfuls when no one is looking in areas like side alleys or unused grassy lots on the weekend. My downtown area has a square chock full of restaurants so everything you said as to why the pigeons stick around is 100%.

Your microphone sound is a lot more muddy than in previous episodes unfortunately. I like the idea of feeding pigeons in more grassy places, but it is really unfortunate that I am usually very unlikely to meet brave doves in such areas. I specifically feed doves because I enjoy the close contact. Like when they sit on my lap or hand whilst I feed them. And such brave doves(or any dove at all) is much more likely to appear in non-grassy areas. Perhaps I'll send an inquiry to my city-council about moving the dove-hotel tower, as it is currently on a gravel park rather than a grass one. Sounds like a good improvement!

I have had my rescued pigeon for almost 2 years now and I feel like all she does is lay eggs and sit on them. I worry that she needs more to her life. When she is on her eggs she wants very little to do with us, she gets a treat , grabs some scrap paper and goes back to her eggs. I have two questions. First is, can laying eggs twice a month every month all year long be unhealthy for her? And my second question is, can she get bored? I love my pigeon and I want her happy and healthy any advice is very helpful.. Beth

Hi there! I have a 6 year old female dove who I raised. It’s completely normal for her to want to nest a lot, it’s instinctual. I have a little basket for her to nest in which I carry around the house with me during the day so she still gets some kind of social interaction by me talking to her and petting her. Every couple hours I will pull her off the nest and put her in a different room (leaving the door open so she can go back when she wants). Egg laying can cause problems if you aren’t feeding her a calcium supplement. Consult with your vet about which one is right for your pet, we use a pinch of ReptiCalcium in the food once daily and it works for us.

I found out later that the cable had come loose so Ill definitelh check that before my next batch of recordings! Thought it better to get them out than deleting them :-)

Help! I have a ringed rescued Male who is now de-threaded and no longer with feather mites. Very pretty and healthy. I thought he'd only be with me a couple of days but it's SO hard to find a home for him. He needs to be with other birds but there's no local Aviary... any ideas!? I'm in a small flat and he goes on the balcony in a cage for air several hours a day. I let him fly in my spare room.

Hello :) Thank you for making these, they have been very helpful. I’m wondering if you could talk about brooding behaviour in pigeons and how you go about replacing the eggs that your pigeon makes with fake eggs? If the pigeon sees you as their partner do you have to help “sit” on the eggs too?
