@joev378325 күн бұрын
@@Belliferous I know this is a bit late for a response, but the easiest way to discipline a child without doing anything too bad is to make them apologize with actual consequences. If your kid hits another kid, and yours was going to eat a cookie later, it starts by having them sit down, and they need to understand seriously that they did something wrong. Once they understand, you have them apologize and offer the cookie, and if they do, you get your kid another cookie. This is just one example, but I had worked as a camp counselor. Long story short, the general goal of disciplining a child isn't the punishment, but actually having them reflect and grow as a person. But at the end of the day, they're still children and it's not reasonable to expect them to know everything. So generally speaking, if they took to heart what they did was wrong, and they made a sincere effort to fix their mistake, then continuing to punish them won't really accomplish anything besides making them unhappy. Like I said before, that isn't really the point of disciplining a kid. Doing something the child enjoys afterwards is a good way to make the learning experience a positive one, and will generally avoid making them think you dislike them. This really is only one piece of it, but a lot of it comes over time as you practice not disciplining for punishment's sake. Just try to make it a learning experience, and try to make it a positive memory if possible.

It begun shortly after his dad passed away when he was 12 years old. His mom (an incredible, amazing, kind, and smart woman) tried so hard to get him to go to school and finish it. People at church stepped in and helped tremendously, but he just didn't want to do anything, he refused to see any therapists, and was in the verge of being kicked out, until he finally "broke" his mom. @user-xr9wp7cs3v I would never shout and I never got hit, I got spanked by my teachers and my parents. Hitting is very different than spankings, hitting a child is wrong, punching will do damage, a spanking just makes your butt tingle for a lil bit but leaves no bruises or marks. Obviously the ideal situation is to discipline the child without spankings but sometimes a kid needs a good ass whooping. Shouting back and forth just let's the child think they are on your level and adult, you say what your gonna say and if you have to repeat yourself more then 3 times you calmly take away the things they like until they act right if they want to start getting violent and acting really dumb then you give them a good ole fashion ass whooping on the butt and that usually solves the issue, but you never spank a child in anger and you never scream. I'll agree there Is a fine line from discipline and abuse. My point is you can spank a child and it not be abusive and wrong.
@thedonzo Жыл бұрын
@user-xr9wp7cs3v also my mom died last year and if she didn't spank me and raise me the way she did I'd be a gang banger and probably dead on the streets, I'm a respectable adult who graduated from college and live a healthy and productive life, I learned from the best person I could to raise my kids one day, you discipline with love and kindness, if that's doesn't work then u whoop them on the butt with love and kindness, if that doesn't work, then it's off to military school lol. I've been God father to 3 of my best friends kids, we spanked them a few times so now when they are being super bad all we gotta say is "do I need to get the belt?" They instantly behave and you don't even need to spank them anymore. I know children and dogs aren't the same but my lab was the same way, I had to spank her a few times but when she got older when I would say no she listened instantly and she loved me very much as I loved her. I work with kids like this. While kids are responsible for there actions and they make these choices, it's almost always caused by the parents not being adequately equipped to being an affective parent. I have dealt with parents pulling kids out of my facility against our doctors advice. It's heart breaking...these kids deserve better.
@thunderballz7410 ай бұрын
There is no guide to parenting... So just saying parents don't want to help or they are just wicked and mean is not responsible. I also love that a gamer without kids are giving advice to parenting. I have 5 kids, they are fine 2 love gaming and they are responsible. They do chores and when there is free time they play games. As a small child not a 16 yr old you can spank their bottoms so they understand there is a punishment they have done something terribly wrong.. not accidents but very bad intentional actions. It was very rare to spank them but mostly a stern voice and taking privileges away works. You have to correct them young and not wait until teenage years.

@@jontay4199 respectfully, the people who abuse children in these camps don’t give a single fuck about you or your family outside of the money they can get from you - don’t kid yourself. Yeah, just wanted to say that. They probably have a contract with dr Phil, so the show obviously gives some ridiculous excuse. @jontay4199 Жыл бұрын
@@cthecheese1620 Think about the person that would get sent to these camps, their home life is bad, they got no future, many of my fellow camp mates were on drugs- they aren’t there because things were going well. Or just think about this kid. His father is abusive, his mother is a victim also, and an enabler. He doesn’t go to school. His prospects are bleak. If he commits suicide, there’s a very real possibility that it had nothing to do with the camp. These kids have had it rough, and it’s not going to be looking up when they leave either. Most of a program like this is prepping you to leave your home when you finish, by way of military or college, because nothing good was happening at home your whole life, why would it have changed during your time at camp? Do you know anything about these programs? You ever been to one? Respectfully, you sound like you have no real world experience or you think any bad result equals ALL BAD. Don’t kid YOURself, you have no idea what you’re talking about.

If this were real, the most probable reason he’s like this is because they let him game all he wanted so he would leave them alone. whenever something broke or he threw a fit for the newest thing they bought it so he would leave them the fuck alone. They noticed this was becoming a problem when it was too late, gave up and went to dr Phil so they wouldn’t have to deal with him.
@Hawkcam19963 ай бұрын
No, letting him game all he wanted wasn’t the problem. Not specifically, that is. The problem was that they didn’t put their foot down whenever he misbehaved and take away the games when he did, on top of giving in to every demand he issued. Gaming is not the problem. Bad parenting is. They had no concept of carrot and stick.

I had an issue between when I graduated from college and started working where I was like this kid. For me, it was depression. My parents didn’t buy me many video games, so I got them through odd jobs. I think it helped because I had to get my stuff on my own and it made me be more self-reliant. Got a better job, bought my own car and rented an apartment. I’m way behind where I should be for my age, but I still game and my depression is much better. I grew up playing video games just as much as that kid, and still play them a lot even today. Because while my parents let me play video games as much as I wanted, they still didn’t give me whatever video game I wanted and if I misbehaved, which was rare, they punished me for it. A household with an emotionally distant (or a "that's your problem, not mine" kind of) father is EQUIVALENT to a single-mother household. Children NEED an opposing masculine figure to rebel against and to correct socially incorrect behaviour, and when this doesn't occur with the father, the mother takes on this role. Sometimes the mother is capable of providing sufficient authority, most cases this doesn't happen. The obvious statement beating your child is not a good form of parenting aside, when your son doesn't respond to violence, what do you do? Any rational-minded person can come to better conclusions than these parents. These are some statistics I've seen online regarding single-mother homes, from studies conducted in the west. The following are attributed to children of single-mother homes in the west: 63% of suicides 90% of homelessness/runaways 85% of behaviour disorders 80% of convicted rapists 71% of highschool dropouts 80% of youths in prison It is incredibly important to have a good father figure in your life. I do not blame just the father in this video, but there is reason why fatherlessness warrants significantly higher chances of negative outcomes for children.
