My gf got her Hyundai stolen by someone before we knew about the USB trick. They left the car in a random car lot 3 towns over, still running, door wide open, reeking of weed. Fortunately our insurance company paid for most of it. Only a 50 dollar deductible, but they did over 10000 dollars worth of damage - how it wasn’t totaled I still have no clue. But stealing someone’s car is so despicable. We were without a car for 3 months while they were repairing it, so getting to work, the grocery store, and anywhere else that we had to get to was a true pain. We have since got a car lock for the car which locks the steering wheel in place. Seems to have been working for the most part.

Environment plays a huge role in behavior. It's funny that you mention the word "imagine." I would often let the kids free write with a basic prompt for an easy grade as long as they used complete sentences and displayed some writing skill like dialog or imagery. Many of the kids simply didn't have the mental capacity to imagine a fictional world outside their own experience. Not everyone can afford FULL coverage car insurance. You have to specifically pay extra to have your car covered for theft. Imagine you’re a single parent and you work your ass off, buy a nice 5 year old Kia for 15k after saving up for years, it’s in great shape. You pay hundreds a month for insurance, but you can’t afford the optional theft coverage. Then a Kia boy steals and crashes your car. It’s totaled. You get nothing from your insurance. You and your child are without a car and have no money for another. EVEN IF you did have full coverage, which costs a fortune, you still have to pay your deductible which can be $500-2000 usually. Then unless you paid extra every month for rental coverage, you have to rent a car to get to work while the insurance company cuts the check. So let’s say you paid $2k for the deductible, $500 in rental car costs, and the 15k car you bought is now only worth 10k in todays market so the insurance only gives you 10k. But the used car market is all jacked up and you can’t get any decent car for 10k Not to mention the trauma it causes. If you steal cars you’re a piece of shit and I dare you to come try and steal mine.

You never see kids like this who have good parents, and you can tell because the way that one kid's tone changed when he admitted his mom would be disappointed. I would say there is a 3rd party involved, the schools/education system. Is there an alternative to normal high school in the US ? (I mean in the "free" system, not some private stuff) Cause I feel like a lot of people just don't fit into the "normal" school cycle, and if earlier , they had support from caring teachers, and were proposed alternatives, like maybe a more professional school, with a salary from the age of 16 (we even have it from 14 here iirc) they wouldnt be going to just quit and start to grow in this mentality of "fuck the world" asmon is talking about. Like from what i'm seeing from the US (and its a problem evrywhere in the world I think) is that you're kinda forced to just graduate high school, and if you can't, and feel rejected by your teachers you have a high probabily to turn to crime.

So something interesting about PTSD and trauma. I recently had an accident. I had to swerve to avoid a head on collision with someone, and ended up hitting someone else. Everyone was fine, nobody was hurt. I saved my own ass by swerving (despite the insurance company blaming me because the driver that caused the accident fled the scene)..but at the same time. It's SO hard to drive now. I'm nervous constantly. I'm overly cautious because I remember that moment when a car shot out in-front of me and I couldn't do anything about it. Now, I still drive, and I won't call it trauma per-say. But it still has lingering effects. I cannot even imagine if your property was outright stolen (like a car!).

I have PTSD from witnessing a fatal crash when I was a teen and learning to drive. I was about to turn and the woman next to me smiled at me through the window while we were at the light. It turned green and she move along, and a semi ran the light and smashed into her small car. Naturally we pulled over and ran to her and this car was crushed. the window was open just enough to see that the woman and her kids were crushed, looked like they had been ran partly through a juicer. It wasn't like the movies. I'll never forget that as long as I live. I am out of therapy now and finally getting back on the road at 33. I am terrified of causing that accident or being in it, it's hard to not freak out while driving, but I'm trying. I still see her smiling at me.

Speaking a a Hyundai technician, this has been a problem for a while. Hyundai/KIA has been doing recalls trying to counter act this for years, doing BCM updates and even giving customers free steering wheel locks. They still find a way though, these kia boys are persistent for sure.

38:33 not the police its the Judges and district attorney no point in having them spend a night in jail when they will get released almost immediately because of the judges and District Attorneys policies

My elantra was broken into at night in February, they couldn't steal it tho because it's a stickshift. The guy(s) never got caught and I had to pay upwards of 500 to repair the window and steering column. They went through the whole neighborhood a bunch of others got stolen the same night. My neighborhood is middle class pretty far from the nearest ghetto, so it was quite alarming.

Attention Kia Owners!!! Air tags on sale now for $29.99 Hide that shit under your hood like in your air filter box and when your Kia gets stolen; track that car down and then call the cops when you find it for recovery via police report. If you own a car please remember an air tag tracking device is half the price of a single oil change. Even if the car is crushed for scrap its at least 300 but unless at a shady chinese scrap yard; u gotta give them your id. Anything less then 15 years old requires title where I live. Over 15 years no title needed to scrap.
