I was born/grew up in Harrison. It's genuinely the worst place to live (in America at least) jobs pay like dogshit, the public schools are awful and filled with criminals, my 6th grade history teacher and middle school principle were both pedophiles, there are tons of meth labs being busted every year, hell I even have relatives that were involved in some. some racism for sure but not a lot, like I legit have only met 2 black people here and I only knew them in elementary school, which both of them ended up moving away before 5th grade. I'm not Agoraphobic, but I basically haven't left the house in nearly 10 years because there is absolutely nothing good about this place, I tried making friends here growing up, but everyone was basically the same, "Lets get drunk and ride tractors down the highway, lets go shoot some squirrels in the trailer park where people live" I am a little biased here, not everyone is bad, there are decent people, but surrounding smaller towns (more like villages of less than 100 people) that's where the danger really comes from. P.S. 22:59 I lived in 2 different trailer parks similar to this, they're honestly not that bad to live in, usually more well kept on the inside than most actual house's in the area.

I agree with Asmon that he could have done a more interesting and valuable interview. But as others have pointed out, this guy is apparently more of a prankster type, so ultimately it makes sense (and nobody should be above a little humor). However the last question he asked on the way out (about making love while wearing the hood) to me kind of destroyed the feeling of the thing. I would have preferred this guy to stay oblivious and possibly find out accidentally down the line that he had been had, and perhaps start questioning himself how he could have been fooled like this. You know, a tiny bit of self-reflection. But the way it ended he will feel soured, and perhaps become even more racist and hostile to strangers. I just don't think a prank is worth that outcome. The interview itself is fine, it could have been more valuable in terms of "deep" questions and follow-ups, but humor is fine as well. Just the end was disappointing to me. And besides, immediately angering him after the interview, while Richard is still present, might put him into more danger as well, while the KKK guy might have forgotten about Richard had he believed it to have been be a genuine interview for the time being, and maybe found out about it later.
@jaeusa1602 жыл бұрын

One of my favorite stories that i think explains a lot is the story of Daryl Davis. Hes a black musician who was playing piano at a bar and somehow struck a conversation with a kkk grand wizard. They actually became friends and eventually the grand wizard quit the kkk. Dary Davis was inspired by this and went out and met and befriended over 100 kkk members and got them to quit and give him their robes CNN actually tried to smear him saying he was a black racist but when actually interviewed he explained that all he did was have non hostile conversations with these people and treat them like humans, talk about what he agreed with and disagreed with, but respectfully and with an open mind. This is proof to me that racism still exists in America mostly because we are still so segregated in our socio economical and even racial bubbles, that we just havent had proper exposure to each other. Anything different and unusual seems scary at first, but if you really get to know different races they are still human.

@Tuilelen Жыл бұрын
k but let's get some perspective here: if your beliefs are about bigotry and wanting to control other people, you made your bed a long time ago. At that point you've made clear to the world that you don't subscribe to the golden rule, so the world knows they're not going to get tolerance or appreciation out of you regardless. Between some light mockery and a literally murderous, hateful organization, it's pretty clear what's the actual evil, and pretending like they're at all equivalent is dishonest.
@Tespri9 ай бұрын
Well that's the truth about "racism" the harassment always comes from extremely small minority, but it looks more common because it's activity that stays on people's mind easily. One man is enough to make entire region look bad. It doesn't apply to just "racist people" but groups in general. For example it takes 1-2 refugees to do crime for all of them being branded. That's just how human mind works.
