I find Mexicans especially awesome in this way. Yall always get serious respect from me. Like, yall are hard working, decent people who accomplish amazing things, but then you aren't dicks about your accomplishments. My Mexican friends include: One doctor (MD), high school buddy Two physics PhDs, college friends An engineer at a prestigious firm, another college friend A successful entrepreneur All people I met in high school and college. Every single one of them is just like more chill, open, and easy going, and just more able to be a real person than an "accomplishments list," unlike so many other high achievers. The horse meat scandal does make me laugh. In the UK, there are a lot of people who are upset that horses are in food and only European eat horses as we're cultured. But if they do their history, after WWII the British Army had a surplus of horses, which was brought about by the government buying every single horse in the UK to help fight the war. No horse was spared, they took pets, work horses, anything as long as it could be used in the war. So all these horses had nothing to do, they couldn't sell the horses back to the owners. So, with the end of the war, europe had a large shortage of food. The UK sent all their horses to europe to feed the hungry.

12:30 As a Manager at a fast food place I can confirm that generally if you bring a "coupon" that looks like it was genuinely issued by us, then we'll accept it. In our system not every coupon is listed and as such the policy for that is that a manager just needs to edit the price to fit the advertised price (not including tax), so this was pretty believable when you consider just how things work. Now that's not to say it's a 100% work every time type deal, but it certainly runs a good chance of working sometimes, especially if you're busy. We do keep the coupons however and deposit them with a receipt into a safe for the General Manager to review later, so it's not like we wouldn't find out it's a fake later lol.

These ads are hilarious and should never be stopped. In my country in 2020, there was a guy named George Jr. who got slapped by his dad (George Senior) for failing his final exams while his mom filmed the video telling him to stop and uploaded it to social media. It went viral real fast. About a day or two later, an energy drink company released an ad telling people they couldn’t protect people from George Senior, but could help them stay up all night to study for their exams. The ad featured actors who visually resembled the actual people, including one of the biggest names in the movie industry at the time. Everyone who ever saw the ad loved it and laughed at it, except for a select few, and I’m pretty sure it’s still on KZbin today.

But I agree that if people can find time to publicise their displeasure over a marketing campaign then they can find better things to do - like install an ad blocker. I have seen way worse advertisments than this. This list was mild and just mostly people being sensitive and mad like usual. I have literally seen a tv commercial with a black man in basically "poorman" clothes being put into a washing machine by some ladies and they say "Let's clean him up and make him handsome" The man later comes out of the washing machine being now white and having a costume. To be fair this was an asian commercial so not suprised it did not become a big deal since they don't have this woke, PC and cancel culture like we have in the west.

I remember years ago a company called easyhome had a huge sale on rental furniture, and they covered all their windows with signage for the sale. This signage had different emojis and internet acronyms scattered all over it, like "LOL", "OMG", etc. Well, one of the terms they used was "OMFG". I just stood there thinking about how someone was about to lose their job, when one of the employees came out with a flyer in his hand. He asked if I wanted to take a look around inside, but I just looked at the flyer, and, sure enough, in one of the upper corners there was a speech bubble with "OMFG" written in it. I pointed to the bubble and asked, "You know what the "F" stands for, right?" He looked at it, looked at me, then looked back to the ad. Then I showed him how it was also all over the windows, to which he yelled "People can see this!" and then ran back inside. I went by there again 2 days later, and all the signage was gone lol.
