The primary issue, I think, is that, at least in the society of US/Canada, it's been established in the social consciousness that men generally have to be the ones to approach. Even if that's gradually changing, it's still very much the case for now, so men are always going to seem more invisible for that reason, on average. This in turn creates the expectation from women that they can just sit back and let things happen. A lot of men will also sit back and let things happen because I think, fundamentally, both men and women are generally pretty scared about making the first move. The difference is that a lot more women will still have something happen to them at the end of the day; again, we're talking about averages here. This also creates a desperation aspect for a lot of men that manifests in ways such as being much more likely to openly comment on a woman sexually than a woman would to a man. This is probably, at least in part, why women tend to get a lot more sexual attention on social media than men do. It's a very imbalanced situation that's been systemically created through our cultural evolution. I guess it wasn't as big of a deal when men were generally the only ones who could work and make money but, now that we've evolved in a legal sense, it's probably crucial that we also evolve in a social sense in this way. The problem is that legal changes are a lot quicker and easier to make than social ones. We're now seeing the fallout of the imbalance between the legal and social changes of gender dynamics in our society, with an ever-increasing digital world. The only other crucial way to make this a lot better is to fix dating apps so that they're not a nearly monopolized money scheme with an algorithm that prioritizes the most popular profiles and leaves the rest in the dust. If online dating apps weren't artificially made to be highly imbalanced for men, we could probably circumvent the need for the aforementioned social change to some extent.

The girl who declined the guy she already had immediate commonalities with because she “wanted to keep her options open” is a perfect example of how dating apps and social media have contributed to the toxic decline of social interaction. 50 years ago the two of them would have likely hit it off but she’s been deluded into thinking there might just be someone out there who is a little more perfect than he was so why not keep rolling the dice to see if she hits the 0.00001% roll.

Yeah, reminds me of(I think it was an experiment) an experiment where scientists gave people 3 options for ice cream flavors, and gave another group, (or the same group later on) 50+ options. Most people who had 3 ice cream flavor options felt happier about their decision, as opposed to people who had 50 options. It’s like some form of FOMO(Fear Of Missing Out) or like you said, this idea that “what if these other options are better?” A sense of regretting their option. Social media and dating apps are the main reason dating is a joke today, there’s too many options for most women, and the most attractive men

@magistersolis.3750 strangely enough, not always true. My wife and I don't exactly share hardly any interests at all and been together almost 20 years. Now... the thing we do share interest in is the well-being of the other person. Which sounds super lame/cringe, but it truly is why we've stayed together and still love each other so much all these years later. We don't have any mutual hobbies, but we care for one another and just live each day trying to make each other happy. When we had kids, they were simply added into that equation. Lol, we have so few mutual interests that my wife and I struggle to even find a show or movie that we'll both enjoy. But we both make a conscious effort to do things for the other person, simply because we care for them. That's something which I think is lost on most people and why relationships don't last as long anymore. Everyone gives up so quickly instead of actually making a commitment and putting in the hard work. It's a shame because of how much people end up missing out on.

@christianalanwilson434 No, they fantasize about that at the very most. And those who do are typically younger males who are still teenaged or in their earlier 20s. Men realize very quickly that they aren't going to get a "stacked OF model" or whatever they truly desire without money or being a 10/10 Calvin Klein underwear model, and so they grow out of that and as you say, settle for lesser. They're still going to have some standards regardless and won't *aim* to settle for somebody who is fat. Most men don't want a woman who is overweight to obese. If they do, then they have a fetish, and it's that simple. And that's fine if you want to fetishize obesity, but it isn't a normal desire. I don't really know what you're referencing by stacked, anyway. The most successful OF women are not fat women. That isn't to say that there isn't a single fat chick on OF who does make good money, but she does so only because she's satisfying a niche market of chubby chasers. Most men are perfectly fine with a chick who is average so long as she isn't overweight. A woman between the weight of 120 to 140 pounds isn't going to become prettier at 180+, but a woman who is 180+ will get more attractive the closer she gets to 120 or so.

Or she has someone in mind already that she's working on... Am I misunderstanding your comment? If a guy is rejected by a female saying "No, sorry, I'd like to keep my options open", then that means there is a another guy who she's more interested in... And if she started dating you, that option would be closed off to her. Or it means she's just not interested in you. That's how it reads to me... Not that she's definitely going to cheat; she's probably not going to cheat if she finds a man who is satisfying to her.
@johnathanroth62053 ай бұрын
@@quinndirks5653 reread my comment. I'm talking about women that reject men they say they will date, men that they themselves see nothing wrong with and you see in this video she says that she wanted to date the guy, but she would rather keep her options open. She even tried to date him later in the episode and got rejected, rightfully so. It's not just being picky, it's being shallow. Most of the people there only wanted 15 seconds of fame, which is why she tried to play hard to get in an attempt to get more interest after the show. Just as a human I would never date anyone who willingly enter a show like this, because that by definition is desperate. It's almost like they've been asking random people on the street if they would accept 50$ to embarass themselves infront of a camera. I had a similar moment when I was at a gathering, a woman asked me what do I enjoy doing in my spare time and I told her that I like to chillax and play games or watch anime, don't think the anime part registered to her because the games part bothered her and told me that I should stop wasting my time and do other things, there is more to life than video games. I asked her out of interest, "So what do you do in your free time?" and she told me that she enjoys going to parties, going out in the countryside and wine tasting. I just told her that there is more to life than alcohol and getting black out wasted at parties, you are just leaving yourself vulnerable and you won't remember what happened the next day. People have different enjoyments, people should stop belittling others enjoyment just to make themselves feel better about themselves.

@@abbynormalz I feel like the women around my age think they are all wine connoisseurs. I dunno why but wine tasting has gotten popular for some reason, majority of them have wine tasting in their bio.

Wine tasting is actually fun. Have a go, you might meet some interesting people, see some wonderful sights, appreciate the dedication and expertise in making a fine drop.

how do the guys not instantly whack that button when the girl asks their star sign? answer wrong your out - answer your & they with a girl that would reject someone for something as dumb as having the wrong star sign. they arent asking out of curiosity - the only reason to ask on here is because its a make or break question for them.

If a guy is with a fat chick, it's for a few reasons. 1. He doesn't have any other options. 2. He started the relationship when she was slimmer, and either she or both of them gained weight. 3. His mom is/was overweight, and he chooses based on that. I guarantee you that if a man had the choice between 2 women who were equally into him and had all the same qualities apart from weigh, he'd choose the healthy chick.

Yes but that guys still attracted to that girl. In the case of women it never happens, theres no attraction so the guy has to provide for her or in the case of ethnic girls st least must be white with blue eyes

I’m so sick of the “well men and women both do it” it doesn’t matter when one party gets to openly do it and are praised for it. There’s no point in saying that men and women both do it when we already punish men for doing it

A big factor from their superficial "judgement" centers around the flaw of the show. Whoever hits the button first gets to stay on the show and gets more screen time. It would make much more sense, and Charlie has made this point clear too, if the person who hits the button is the one who leaves. If they want to stay on camera, that's more incentive to actually get to know the other person and look past their own pettiness and make up some reason, that they might not even believe at that moment, just to stay in the seat.
