@@bobhanson1037 see, I was expecting exactly what we got. I knew the main focus wouldn’t primarily be JUST hogwarts but also everything around it. I’m amazed at how incredibly detailed everything is. Sure, some things could’ve been done better (but that’s with everything) but what we have exceeded even my sky high expectations, and that doesn’t happen often.

@@bobhanson1037 This is 100% true, i have around 40 or so hours in the game and ive always been a HP fan. Even tho the game is well above average, it just feels like generic open world rpg. If you are a HP fan like myself you will certainly enjoy it, but the boycott on the other hand made people overhype the game way too much. It has imo some glaring issues such as the world feels very empty besides couple puzzles, useless collection items, random npcs to kill (like 6 or 7 types). NPC's dont react to anything that you do, house choice has barely any influence gameplay wise. And that goes without mentioning the horrendous PC optimization. A solid game but i after playing some open world games like witcher 3 or rdr2 it just feels incredibly souless.

@@bobhanson1037 i was thinking about that too you dont actually feel like a student and i assume they didnt add more class related quests because they didnt wanna drag things out. the story was about the keepers and ancient magic and thats really where they wanted to keep it i think. like it would have been cool if we actually had to take the OWL exams instead of the cutscene or we had to actually attend lessons and sit on the chairs, watch teachers do their thing like in the movies. But overall i wont say im displeased and this has reopened my long buried childhood enjoyment of the harry potter franchise. (SPOILERS AHEAD) Dont mean to drag out my comment but in a sorta sad kinda way this focus on the keepers made the other npcs actually pretty hard to bond with. Like i didnt really care for anyone but sebastian and ominis, Poppy is alright. Fig was an absolute goat may he rest with his wife. Of all the keepers i loved San Bakar the most that dude is amazing i thought that during the isidora fight he would join the clash like a moron but he just killed her ass lmao

The main attraction for this game when it was first rumoured was I get to be a student at Hogwarts end experience eveything I seen in the movies not I get to go on a magical adventure. the thing I noticed is that the spell bar is what is the most difficult for him. since it can cycle through multiple spell selections, it'd be like playing D3 and your four main abilities were cycled into encampment functions during a battle.

Im at 111,5 hours now, and just unlocked flew the last broom upgrade and activatett all those floor flames there. I have 5 it 6 main story quests left. Lol. But i have watched all cut scenes fully and read all notes/letters and so on. I do everything i come across before advancing the main story😂. Next house i play i will skip all cutscenes and sutch. And go on Hard difficulty with doing all evil. But i will go for completionist 100% in all 4 houses😂.

Being a harry potter fan for years, my favourites are the Prisoner of Azkaban and Order of the Phoenix ps2, because these two are the closest to "open world" where I can free-roam hogwarts. OotP follows very closely to the movie hogwarts, so I was thinking Hogwarts Legacy would do the same and add more areas. But I like now they changed some layout of Hogwarts but can still maintain how elaborate it is. The devs allowed themselves some creative freedom rather than strictly following the movie hogwarts for the sake of nostalgia. The only thing I don't like as of yet is Peeves😂 He was very funny in PoA ps2, but now he looks very creepy- a fat mad hatter with demon red eyes.

The games very good but definitely not perfect. Like id rather have had to find a cloak vs using a spell, The castle has some parts that are weird but acceptable since its not the same time as the movies. I haven't been almost any where else in the game except around hogwarts and like the small part in Gringotts bank. Its missing some things that would be nice, like the shops are useless except for buying potions and a broom. They should sell somethings. I haven't seen any beans or chocolate frogs. The dark forest is really small. They really need a cloth storing option like a trunk because you get to much clothing. Afraid im gonna destroy some special gear because I can't hold it all. The merlin challenges for more bag space is kind of lame. I keep running around the game for hours keep having to destroy gear 24/7. As a good game though its like a 9/10. maybe 8.5. The game would of been better with time limits that made you choose what to do and when to go to classes like in bully or majoras mask. Then youd have multiple play throughs trying to optimize it all. Different paths to take and influence who you become at hogwarts. It could of used a different character building system to be honest. With flying you can pretty much go to the end area from the beginning and loot everything. If you never used a broom you might have a better experience.

I give the game an 8/10, really my main issue with it is the bad character creator and quite frankly the lack of white people. This game is supposed to take place in 1899, yet compared to the Harry Potter movies that are set in the UK over 100 years later, 1899 Hogwarts is somehow way more diverse, like easily 40% white and 60% black/brown/mixed-which is obviously only the case because of game developer bias and not any lore reason. People can say I'm racist or dishonestly argue "oh, but it's a magical universe so is it really so unbelievable for Hogwarts to be so diverse?" but when you consider this game is part of a low fantasy universe centered around the UK + using the movies as reference, it's really makes 0 logical sense for 1899 Hogwarts to look way more diverse than any modern city. Not only are the demographics obviously warped and implausible, but the NPCs in general just look/act really bland. It seems a lot of the NPCs just use the default faces from the character creation screen rather than any unique textures, and the preset faces are all quite ugly (like almost intentionally ugly.) I'm a big fan of the books and movies so it's honestly a disappointment that Hogwarts feels nothing like how it does in the canon, but I'm still playing through it and just enjoying exploring Hogwarts. I just wish we had great characters like Hermione, Hagrid, Harry, Malfoy, Luna, etc. to make the world feel a bit more like my childhood fantasy of Hogwarts and not the fantasy of some weirdo developer from California.

Hogwarts is an awesome game, but it hasn't replaced our MMORPG "ESO". But then again ESO is like almost 10 years old and has had the chance to transform into what it is today. Asmongold we love watching you!
