My grandma met her neighborhood's door-to-door Avon saleslady back in the 70s also, when the lady first visited Grandma's home to sell her makeup and perfume. They became friends. Her name was Dorothy. Grandma and Dorothy remained friends for the rest of Dorothy's life. She always invited Dorothy and her family over for holiday parties, always bought her perfumes and makeup from her, and always had her Avon catalogues sitting on the coffee table. We called family friends "aunt" or "uncle" growing up, that's how tight-knit everyone was. So she was "Aunt" Dorothy to us. My grandma just passed away a year ago, joining all her friends and family who went before her. Which would have included Dorothy. I bet Dorothy gave her the best makeup job when she got there. I still have my grandparents' Avon 1970s exclusive perfume and musk bottles that are glass-blown into shapes and still contain perfume. My grandpa's was a pheasant. My grandma's was a canary. And the pheasant and canary are side by side in my China cabinet.

I remember in the early 80s, my mom gathering all the neighbors at home once in a while for an Avon show. The representative who came with the cosmetics was very beautiful and kind lady and we, as children at the time, literally stared at her like she was a magician or something. 😂

I know this look is supposed to be caricature of the decade but I swear on my momma you have never looked as gorgeous in a video as you do in this. It’s like your face was carved by the gods of retro beauty. Your eyes are popping out of my screen hypnotizing me.
