What a spellbinding effect...ive always liked non verbal videos. It allows you to absorb the construction process the way your own brain is processing it, rather than doing that AND listening to someones voice. Sometimes a persons verbal instructions can interrupt your own thought processes but its also rather calming. In this world of constant noise, it was very refreshing. Thankyou Ilona...lovely video and frikking STUNNING hat!! I can just imagine that on a 1950's winter black ensemble with yellow felt matching buttons. Just sublime shape.

Hi, Here's another one that I've missed. Thank you. I liked it for how comprehensive it is, even without talking. It looks like the new steamer is working out well. Even in handheld mode it looks like it works better than the old one, even if the oled one specialized in handheld mode. Yours, Ann

Wow superb quality. Do you buy the hat fabric in a "hat blank" like that before steaming? I'm fascinated by the process. I've never seen it before. I'm just a hat lover and off the shelf hats don't fit me my head is to large. So sad 😔

Hello, thank you! I am so glad you liked my video 😊 Yes, you buy the felt as a "cone" or "hood" just as you saw it before I put it on the steamer. My channel is dedicated to sharing the process of hat making, so I hope you subscribe and have a look at some of my previous videos! I suggest watching this video, it focuses on the design of the hat as well as the making: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn7FnKNjrZ2UnMU

Lovely Hat. Q. Did this felt cone came stiffened?
@ByIlonaMillinery2 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you so much! This particular cone was pre-stiffened, however it wasn't stiff enough for my liking so I added some extra stiffener but didn't film it. I go over stiffening felt in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXa0fWV7jMRro9k

I am watching at the moment on Stan, a 2 part documentary of the Queens golden jubilee 2 part documentary released in 2013. Part 2, at 29 minutes in shows her at Wembly Stadium in 1966, wearing a felt hat almost identical in profile to this one. So - I think it might be fair to date this to mid 60's...what do others think?
