Good evening! Tonight I'll be teaching you the history and geography of Serbia!
I understand that the history of Serbia and its surrounding countries is very turbulent, and I'm presenting this in a relaxing and comforting way. If anyone finds it offensive because of it, I sincerely apologize, as I'm not trying to make light of it or mock it, but just present it in a way that is not stressful or would induce anxiety. Please do not dislike this video just because you disagree with the subject matter or are anti-Serbian. I also apologize for any mispronunciations in this video (I know there's a few, since I hadn't quite brushed up on my Serbian very well before filming this) and I do apologize again, so please feel free to leave corrections in the comments so everyone else will know how to correctly pronounce things when they watch this video!

Hi!i thought you should know that the reason Serbia declared so many wars after it gained independance after Ottomans was bcs we were given only a small part of our previous land ,and a lot of the Serb still lived under the Ottoman rule.Serbs were a majority in bosnian, macedonian and other regions that were still under the Ottomans,so we weren't just stupidly declaring wars bcs we didn't have nothing better to do,we were just trying to save other Serbs who were still being opressed.Hope this cleard things up!

Same in pretty much every balkan nation. When greece got independence it was so tiny, that enlargement became a national priority and greece spent the following years fighting the ottomans in order to liberate its brothers that were under muslim rule.

Serbia expansion into Kosovo and macedonia was nonsense. There were barely serbs living there. While I would understand the POV on bosnia, claiming Kosovo and Macedonia as serb is nonsense.

That was an amazing description of how World War 1 started. Also, just a random fact, in 1957, the “Belgrade Fair - Hall 1” became the largest dome in the world, a title it held until 1963.

Most off the world don't recognise Kosovo as a country and that is a fact. China and India make half off the world population and those are just two countries that dont recognise Kosovo for start.

@Dragan Senseless.... you cant claim that every person in those countries support the backwarded decisions of their governments. Did you ask every single of those 1,3 billion chinese people if they do or do not recognize Kosovo???? Of course not. So make a step forward and stop acting like a backwarded kid. All best, -From the Rep. of *Kosova AL*

@@leahs_art8610 Unfortunately your mission to "clear up things" failed as much as your english grammar. The country of Kosovo, was formerly part of serbia (de jure till 2008), or to be more precise, part of yugoslavia (de facto till 1999). The book seems to be a older one which is why a mistake like that happened. But *ASMR Geographica* and I fortunately acknowledged that mistake. And this is, how you would clear up things. :)

You should probably mention in every one of these videos that you have a heavily USA-centric and therefore biased worldview.

I do my best to not only reject most of the history I was taught in public school in the US, but to seek out other sources or sources from those actual countries when I research, and present them in a calming summary. But I think it's pretty evident from my accent that I come from the US and therefore come from that background.

@@ASMRGeographica He's just virtue signalling rather cowardly from the anonymity of a computer. Ignore him. Your videos are well-researched and interesting, all credit to you for broadening your general knowledge. Europe is a complex place and still rather tribal, you will always encounter those with their own version of their history and a chip on their shoulder. Having visited many of the places in Europe that you have covered, I would say you have done a very good job, keep up the sterling work!
