The "rules" regarding those superstitions can be so frustrating. The logic doesn't extrapolate in a rational way. Take for instance the "don't gift a knife" rule. Does it apply to any sharp object? How can you find out what objects are safe and which aren't? if the role of an object has some sort of symbolic assertion over the structure of a relationship, can you give any gift that *doesn't* have some sort of spiritually transformative effect? Does personal significance have any influence over the effect either, or is the meaning imparted entirely by the dogma described here? My questions go on and on. 😐
