While I feel this is pseudoscience, I do think there is benefit to being touched, listened to, cared for. My concern would be that people with serious illness might eschew a doctor’s care for this. But I would definitely be willing to try something like this in conjunction with medical care. If nothing else, it would relieve stress and be very relaxing!
@diansebastian23 Жыл бұрын
Part of the reason why alternative medicine is so succesful is not only because of some people’s reticence to proven scientific answers to problems, but because the medical system in so many countries around the world is stretched so thin due to lack of staff that medical care becomes very objective and devoid of humanity shown towards the patient i.e treating the patient as a hunk of flesh, rather than a living, thinking human being. When you have so many patients a day, you stop caring for their issues and worries, which feels dehumanising. Alternative care has a very warm, humane, patient-centric approach that makes them feel listened to. In this regard, modern medicine really has a lot to learn from alternative medicine.
@Ron_DeForest Жыл бұрын
Chiropractic care was considered pseudoscience not that long ago ago. There are a number of Chinese practices like acupuncture that was considered pseudoscience but we’re learning the benefits for both. Just because we don’t understand the science behind something doesn’t mean we won’t.

I think there’s ppl out there who think vice versa. Like they believe in their reiki or their kinesiology as much as you and I know and feel the asmr. And they think asmr is some silly made up thing. Purely because it’s not their experience and they can’t imagine or put themselves in someone else’s shoes to even try to understand. So therefore asmr doesn’t exist to them, it seems silly in their minds. I like to think I can put myself in someone else’s shoes to try to understand or at least accept they experience something different. Something they’re truly experiencing, and I’m Just not. Or maybe we are all experiencing the same thing but our perception is what’s different or our internal explanation as to the how and why is what’s different. Rather than it being unbelievable, it’s all truth. And we each have our own.

That’s something you have to figure out on your own. Hospitals should only be for emergency situations, If we knew how to properly take care of our bodies we wouldn’t need to take medication.

@@moniquej369 "Taking medication only suppresses the issue, it doesn’t get to the root of the problem" is the exact term thrown out by every health gourou and wanabe stealing from people. Leme give you some magic pills. Your tummy hurt? Here is some love kisses. What caused it? Who cares, you feel better now right? I'll see you tomorow for the same shit". you should consider yourself lucky that the incredible progress we made in science and medicine in the last decades that quadrupled our lifespan and quality of life was made by real scientists and not charlatans selling snake oil.
