I believe it’s 2 reasons for it. 1. Nike started to produce more shoes to offset the resellers and raffles. 2. People have widened their range of shoes they are willing to wear. A decade ago people weren’t wearing adidas, Puma or new balance on a day to day. Now just about all the major brands are producing heat. Not to mention all the designer brands have a piece of market share as well.

Resellers are known to get that profit. There's no excuse for Jordan to continue raising prices outta jealousy. It's not resellers this time. They're just getting the blame because you're lazy. I can't be the only sneakerhead with backdoor access. Etc.. Nike n Jordan have no excuse to be raising retail prices to compete with resellers profits. I started buying Jordans in 86. My first pair costed 64.99.. for the longest Jordans were $200/$225. Theyre now $250 and up. That's not resellers. Find a better excuse or a better hustle.

@See_Carter_Run_is I see ya point, but since collecting Jordans since 2012 I have never had anyone in the REAL WORLD stop and comment on quality or craftsmanship of the shoe only time I see or hear those comments is on KZbin. I wear my shoes to work I'm a mechanic on electro machines and I do alot of squatting and bending and lifting and if we're talking about quality then none have ripped torn stretched broken granted all my shoes have force field toe inserts so they all look fresh, so are talking about real world quality or closely inspecting the shoe through a microscope for 40 mins???
@See_Carter10 ай бұрын
@@manalone1330 1st I don’t own a microscope. 2nd I’m talking about quality as far as how the shoes feels to the wearer. Certain pairs got made out of real leather before they got retro’d and no, the shoes don’t look much different but to the wearer you can definitely feel the difference, and notice a color difference as well. If you have the Scarface Jordan 1s than go pick em up. I rest my case… those are some of the slightly more recent releases that have that genuine leather on em. It’s like buying a bootleg lv product, and then going into the lv store and buying the same product. Look wise it might not be “that” off, but to the owner you can most definitely tell the difference in the quality. And just because a shoe doesn’t fall apart, doesn’t mean the quality is top tier. Just means the stitching is.

There are actually authorized sneakers with defects because some defects still fall within tolerance. Tier 1: Unauthorized sneaker. This sneaker is made in the official factory, but was supposed to be destroyed because of defect. An employee “Plug” sold it out the backdoor. Tier 2: AAA replicas. These come from unauthorized factories with highly skilled cobblers. The factory has top-of-the-line equipment, the same blueprint, and the same materials used for the sneakers that are made in the authorized factories. Thats why New Balance, Saucony, and Asics following has grown so much. Hell, even Crocs are selling out over Jordans. Its a good thing however because, the game needs more variety. It would be a good opportunity to slow down the retros and push more of the other models. Kobe's seem to be lined up pretty good for next year, so is Travis Scott's shoe. Boss was a Nike executive for 30 years. Nike removed the retail market when they pulled prime shoes from the foot lockers and dicks (vendor partners). They went to the DTC model and cut out the middle man. Profits now go directly to Nike. The reason it doesnt appear that they are not selling out is because they have all the inventory in house and dont have to feed product to the retailers.

Having been around this since 1990, it's defintely changed a lot in the last year. Part of it really is the economy, people don't have $200+ every week for shoes, and oversaturation is a huge, huge problem. I've complained for awhile, there needs to be a pattern to releases, be it anniversary, or packets of hey, let's do all 4s this quarter, maybe 12s next, etc., instead of it being shotgunned all over the map. Another issue is the reimaging of the shoes, sorry, but I don't want to spend top dollar on a shoe that looks like the soles were changed off a 35 year old shoe for new uppers. I like my stuff pristine, and the true collectors and those that wear them are the same way. The fashion twits who buy what some influencer tells them to, hey, congrats, you're a tool, but that isn't the long run way to go. Quality is something we as fans have complained about for years, then it comes back for a little bit, then it goes back in the tank again. Anyone who bought retros in the 2006-2015 era knows those were put together for less than $20 a pair, and were straight trash on quality and construction. I'm still a fan of the original Jordan colorways, but quit trying to get every pair. I was dying laughing at people buying playoff 8s, trying to flip them. You know those are like the alltime worst, most uncomfortable shoes ever produced, and you want $150 over MSRP? Good luck, and I still see them on FB and other places for barely retail. When I was in Los Angeles last year, I noticed a trend of it seems like the resellers, if they can't dump the SNKRS drop in 30 days, they take it back to a store. I grabbed fire red 3s for $140 at an outlet in Long Beach and was shocked, and found another pair at a regular Nike retail store near Huntington Beach. If you're looking at prices on eBay, specifically, if a shoe is averaging $210-230 retail, and it's selling at $270-300 online, how much profit are you really making for the headache? eBay gets there 10%, which is $27-30, leaving you with a profit margin of $30-40 a pair. That's not worth staking out an app all day, and certainly not when you can't dump the shoe in 30 days. You are correct about when you could walk in a store and buy whatever, but I think back then, more people spent with cash than credit, so $125 pair of shoes was a reach for people when minimum wage was typically $4-5 an hour, whereas now, people won't hesitate to drop $230 on a credit card and not worry about it. I can distinctly remember the 5 and 6 sitting for months, and the ten I was able to pick up at Dillard's for a song. Hell, the original retros in 1994, I bought the banned at Champs for $80, and they ordered me the white/red for $40 from Arizona. The 3s were lined up along a wall in Orlando for $30 at a Nike outlet. No one really cared. Even when the 14 came out in 1998, you could walk in anywhere and find it. I think the 11 at Christmas thing has gotten old, and the gratitude isn't anything new, it's a rehash of the DMP that honestly no one liked when it originally came out. The Jubilee was straight trash, and didn't sell either. If this had been a bred release, concorde, we'd be seeing different numbers and far more resell and sell outs, but I think Nike needs a long term plan for releases, less collaboration with nobody celebs, less player signature shoes within the brand itself. I've looked at the calendar for next year, and legit see 2 releases, 6 Olympic and 4 Military, that I'd go for, other than that, all of its an easy pass.

As someone who's into sneakers I've noticed it has to do with multiple factors, too many releases of unpopular colorways or variations that nobody cares for (example: suede royal blue 1's), price hikes and economic issues making people more selective on what they buy, resellers ruining it for a lot of people who lose hope in getting popular sneakers, also a lot of people who could afford Air Jordan are now buying designer sneakers instead because the resale price of Jordans are around the same retail price of some designer sneakers which are usually made of superior materials and some even made in Italy as opposed to made in China Jordans.

Well said brother. You’ve stated what I’ve been saying all along. It’s not over saturation or that people don’t WANT shoes anymore. We’re in a recession! The cost of living has increased so, food, gas, and housing prices are at an all time high and people’s pay hasn’t increased to meet the spike in the cost of living! Again, well said bro, you’re by far one of the more intelligent sneaker KZbinrs out there if not the most. You would think this would be a simple concept to grasp but people just don’t get it or they’re afraid to admit that they just ain’t got it like that no more! That Covid money dried up and it’s time to get back to work y’all, no more flipping shoes and flexin on the gram to make ends meet lol. ✌️

After Jordan retirement I stop buying sneakers it took me 12 years to buy another pair until the 12s playoffs came out again and actually I used to hoop with this 12s like I did in the 90s with 7s,8s and 10s after all this everything went crazy with AJs until today that I think is coming back to normal like used to be back in the 90s .I got myself the 11s gratitude I didn’t go crazy about it just waiting to get the 4s bred and that’s it for this 46 years old man with the sneaker game..Not a sneaker head..

Honestly Hype did this! This Current Culture is a follow me behavior, back in the day you could flip out of Eastbay what you felt not what everyone felt. ! The whole resale game is trash literally. ppl do anything for profit as if Retail wasn't high . I just cant see how someone goes from Jays to Crocs as a out side shoe now . I cant understand how everyone all of sudden like dunk lows (panda) follower mentality messes up everything. Shoes are sitting and its okay . I hope all those resellers sitting on bricks of shoes fail. Greed is crazy.

I couldn’t agree more on your views especially the release of the shoes doesn’t stop releasing like literally every single day. With the geopolitical issues around the globe people are saving for important things and stick to what they have in the shoe rack. Love this content and giving us the chance to think or realise that sometimes you need to pull the handbrake for betterment of your life! Well done bruh 👍🏼

Four biggest things in my opinion: Nike cracked down on bots on SNKRS Economy is getting worse, most people are struggling to pay bills Jordan brand is dropping too many shoes, most are trash colorways or variations Retail prices are getting way too high on some pairs and people are turned off.

I personally think Jordan brand & sneakers in general are facing the same kind of problems that marvel studios is currently dealing with. Oversaturated products & lack of quality. Customers are more attracted to sneakers if there’s a limited supply & limited availability but if shoppers know that they can buy a sneaker anytime knowing they’ll be available because they won’t sell out then it becomes less attractive. Oversaturated sneakers are making Jordan’s less appealing now.

Nike makes Jordans tho. Not Jordan brand
@kite3611 ай бұрын
In summary, there’s a lot more options and the market itself is saturated which is good for people who like sneakers. Basically the only thing keeping the prices up are economical factors and resellers trying to squeeze some money out. outside of extremely limited releases.

Its really a good time for real sneakerheads. I just got the gratitude 11s man, I always loved the DMP 11s but couldn't get them, now it was easy and a great alternative to the original DMP. I got fed up with trying to buy shoes for me and my family to the point I just gave up! Resellers are the reason why the shoe game is the way it is now! Millions of customers got fed up with trying to make purchases to the point they got tired and quit. Now you have resellers sitting on shoes that they can't get rid of because they botted everything up for retail, and now the same shoes are selling below retail.

Idk... Maybe because student loans and mortgage payments just started after the pause from covid. The economy is a disaster right now where people don't even have a savings anymore and massive credit card debt. This problem is a lot worse than 2008. You can't just tell people to stop working and give free money without any repercussions.

I collected dunks after I graduated from HS in 03, cause they were cool. I wore them. Daily use. Matched my outfit, it was fun. Now I see how much they're worth now, people keeping them in prestige condition. Not the same game I played as a young adult. Now, my collecting days pivoted towards watches. Never looked back with bots and resellers. The chase wasn't fun anymore. I use to wait in line or head to my local skate shop (shout out to Willy's workshop in PQ) and get them after class. Hahaaa.

I think alot of the younger folks learned about reselling and they were swooping up all the sneakers being released and selling for $10-$20 in hopes to make a $1. Some don't even wear Jordan's or know the background of certain models. Now it's moving to, New Balance, Crocs, Birkenstocks or whatever "Influencers" or celebrities are rocking. I remember back in 88 getting a job just to get the Jordan 3! I've paid my share of reseller costs to get grails a few years ago, scouring eBay to get the best price and I've sold some myself that I decided not to keep. So yeah, it's nice to be able to get what I like with no stressors and even doubling up cuz ya just never know! It's about being smart with one's money, investments if you will and enjoying the ride not being broke doing so or wearing what's hyped...do you, wear what you like and you'll be much happier! Happy Holidays!

Hey man, just want to say good video I agree with a lot of your points. And I know a lot of people were saying that reseller is ruined the sneaker market and I would say that it’s not so much the resellers that were lining up to buy a bunch of shoes I would say the bots who were buying hundreds of pairs of Jordans, and then selling them for thousands of dollars ruined the market initially. My theory right now as the reason why sneakers are sitting on shelves is that I think hype has killed the sneaker market because the reality of it is, is that a majority of sneaker heads and consumers don’t care about OG Jordan colorways. If it’s not a hyped Jordan release, then they’re going to sit on shelves. Now what I will say is I’m very happy about this because I was able to get the cherry 12s two weeks after release through the Foot Locker app and that was something that years ago I probably wouldn’t be able to do because of my shoe size. The one thing I agree with is, I think it’s a great time to be a sneaker head. For the longest time people complained about the fact that they couldn’t go to the store and cop a shoe but now you can and I think that’s a great thing
