Even Rarer Events in Stellaris

I did a video on this topic a little while back and it turns out there's a bunch more of these. One of which is so rare that it's unlikely that you'll ever see it. Sure it's possible, but it just doesn't happen. You also filled out the comments section with a list of more rare events so I took those plus some of my own to make this update video about some of RAREST EVENTS in Stellaris. Do enjoy.

i get the towel event every 3 or 4 games. large galaxy with 5x habitable planets and very few AI empires

First play through had a huge event chain searching for a mystical planet. Ended up finding a gaia world in a new system that spawned with primitives. Some random aliens show up bomb The Primitives into extinction and then fly away leaving me with an empty Gaia world. 400 hours later and I’ve never seen this event again.

I used to get that one almost every game when the DS expansion came out...haven't gotten it at all in a long, long time since.

@@wfb.subtraktor311 I might be wrong about this, but I seem to recall that I did this once, and the aliens that show up to kill them actually go around and kill them on all of your planets... along with everyone else on those planets.

It is interesting what you can find when strolling trough the games localisation files, I just opened a random file and instantly found localisation of a digsite which, despite my extensive playtime, had never seen, The lesser messenger, something about a race of tiny people whose ship you can get and eventually upscale. I also found a little below it an unused origin, which would let you spawn in a system with two primitives. To more interesting discoveries, Did you know that the federation arena combat has a large amount of possible descriptions, which take into account, what traits, ethics and civics you have: there is one where your ruler just runs around a bunch and somehow wins(pacifistic) wins fair and simple (default), wins due to superior skill(militarist), wins due to mechanical components(synthetic) due to psychic power(psychic) erases the opposition with a single look(chosen one) where they have a massive showdown between two demigods where all other rulers are simply incinerated as a mere formality (two chosen ones) and lastly where they actually destroy the entire arena in a massive psionic battle rarely seen outside the confines of the shroud.(more than two chosen ones) I doubt anyone has actually legitimately witnessed the last two legendary event descriptions. And keep in mind that each of these has multiple versions, mostly weather you win or lose in that situation but also in the last two, if your ruler happens to not be a chosen one, there is a description for that too. its pretty insane how there is so much detail in it, despite the whole arena mechanic being very rarely used... It seems i got a little carried away i was going to talk of other interesting tidbits like if the friendly ameboa manages to survive a century it evolves into GIGA-AMEBOA. but this is long enough as is

Honestly, I was wondering the same thing!! Like sometimes I'm also too lazy to clean up the map in mid/late game so I like to let the crisis faction do its thing and mop up the rest for me and I'm like always try to trying to tell the helper faction shoo!

I've actually had that Towel event a few times. Though that was back when I played exclusively on large galaxies and it probably helps that I generally play with a mod that increases anomaly chances through a policy.

I had both the wanderlust and stay calm events happen to me before. The stay calm one I completely disregard as one of the random events. Never knew it was that rare. ....would explain my bad luck sometimes.

I have also gotten the stay calm "towel" event. I thought it was just strange that one of my science officers now has a towel trait that did absolutely nothing. I thought it was just weird.

I get brain slugs pretty regularly. Not the majority of the time, but in dozens of games. Weird to hear that it's so rare.

@@GostlyToast Ha! I know the feeling. I don't play terravore, but I play lithoids a ton (syncretic evolution double-lithoid cross-breeding xeno-phile trade aquatic is very good) and I never am in a need of LOWER pop growth.

When I was trying to get the Zroni to happen, I had to set the habitable worlds multiplier to 5x to finally find it, and after getting the achievement for completing it, I started a new playthrough with a normal world amount, only to immediately get the Zroni again. I grinded for 4 hours on normal worlds to get it before switching to cheesing, so I may or may not have thrown an empty waterbottle across the room

It's amazing that the game has this moments of straight up trolling you. One playthrough in the past, i had a really big amount of systems completely closed off from the rest of the galaxy and the only chokepoint was through fallen fanatic spiritualists. No one between me and the fallen empire, around 15 to 20% of the galaxy ... ... And then on the opposite side, 2 fanatic purifiers bullying me all the time and never between themselves xD

I almost had forgotten the Grand Herald was a thing, after they nerfed it in to another galaxy. Its prolly for the better tho, it really made the game way too easy in singleplayer and I can only imagine the frustration it gave multiplayers.

I got the Towel event once, however at the time I didn't put any thought into it at all because I got it on a scientist who immediately died of old age a few days later not that it would have mattered since I was at the part of the game where its bonuses were useless, I haven't seen it since and likely won't think much of it if I ever see it again

Pro tip, if you want the Zroni to spawn, just play a completely inappropriate empire, be robots, or be a hivemind of any sort. Anytime I play something where psionic is not an option I almost always get these bastards. I suppose the relic buff is ok and I guess being able to sell off all that zro is nice but come on game, come on lol. Edit: so going off what Aspec said... I had no idea the precursors operate that way. I thought the game selected one at random when the map is generated. So they are triggered based on where you survey?

I only get the Zroni when I play materialist or a Gestalt empire. But getting them as spirtualist is pretty awesome I gues.

Last year I got the Zroni while playing as a Technocratic Fanatic Materialist empire. Ended up roleplaying a Science Directorate trying to scientificaly explain psionic powers and the Shroud. It was a logistic nightmare but fun nonetheless Edit: typo

This is my dream situation. I love the psyonic ascention,both mechanically and thematically. And their bonuses work so well with materialists. But its so hard to get materialists to discover psionics...

I got Pantagruel and The Towel in the same game and didn't know either of them was this rare. I also reverse engineered an Afluence Center once, but I knew how rare that was when I did it

I have currently 600h but got the Towel event around 400h. I was so incredibly happy because i love the reference. Actually this was the best event ive ever gotten. The bonus is so nice.

My experience for this events so far Never got the grand harald, yet Got a few time the zroni Got wanderlust once a few days ago Never got the chance to see the crisis faction because I tend to drop evrything to tackle them before i get the war in heaven ptsd Also wanderlust increse the unbidden, just the event himself, spwam chance by 50%

Funny that you mention Wanderlust: my first playtrough as Swolephins and I got that one. Lucky me.... Other than Pantagurel, these elude me(then again pantagruel can be just save scummed). 06:07 Sentinels can also be overrun by the prethoryn, in which case they send final message telling galaxy to fight on.

i actually saw the final message by the sentinels on one of my play throughs and i honestly started to cry reading it since it was one of my first ever play throughs of the game and at the time i was very into reading every tidbit of text that popped up, now i just skim through everything and i don't really care if something happens during the game unless i know that it's a bad or good thing.

I've had the towel event a few times, and Zroni more times than I care for. At this point, if I get Zroni as my precursor event I will just start a new game because it's gotten sooooo dull. I’m surprised you didn’t mention The End of the Cycle. It’s a really fun and challenging event for Stellaris veterans. In fact you should make a video on trying to beat the end game crisis and the event boss after the event is finished (all of your empire is gone), though you might have to extend the end date indefinitely in the settings beforehand. The easiest way I can think of to get the event to spawn is through save scumming, you could try that.

I didn't know the towel event was that rare. I've gotten it twice in 1,250 hours of the game. I did have a phase where I played a lot of desert species though, so that's probably why.

@@A_Spec I mean absolutely correct and based, distant stars is godlike content, but the Grand Herald and the new Precursor's aren't part of said godlike content, they're part of Ancient Relics, but you credit distant stars for both in this video. Probably just a mistake in the script since so many of the events covered are actually from distant stars, but jokes are better so I made joke.

Not a rare event as a whole but more like a bunch of uncommon stuff all at once, but I've had a few games where EVERY SINGLE Leviathan in the game spawned in my galaxy, along with almost every single rare or uncommon world, like Sanctuary. It was a very odd round with having like 9 ring worlds under my control and all the Megastructures as well.

Speaking of grand herald in 3.0+, just got one as determined exterminator and steam rolled through the entire galaxy within 100 years FeelsGenocidalMan Also in terms of end game crisis, since you can directly talk to the custodian team, maybe convince them to lower the weight of forbidden to spawn? Of 500 hours of stellaris, aka approximately 50 total playthroughs I have played, I think I rolled zerg for a grand total of 3 times and contingency/AI uprising(glorious 1.0 days) for less than 10 times, and all others are forbidden

I played with a mod once that added a new Ascension Perk that let you open a box or something that made you choose a certain themed bonus, but also locked the playthrough into spawning a specific crisis. I think that would be an interesting addition.

Oh the towel was a hitchhikers guide to the galaxy reference. I was very confused why having a towel was worthy of a trait. I'm surprised you haven't brought up the pet crawler yet. While i got the pet crawler fairly often in my play throughs some of the resolution events seem very rare.

Honestly, I found that exploring, not surveying anything except planets, and then expanding, allows you to stockpile some influence and alloys, as well as give you info on which direction to expand to for your first planet. Also youll get 1-2 traditions at least, 3-4 if spiritualist, allowing you to get Expansion for lower influence cost on starbases, and once you settle, youll have +1 pop on colonized worlds. Both a good saving of early influence and a head start into the game. And/or get 1-2 into discovery for faster surveying, but mainly to activate "map the stars" for that bonus annomaly spawn chance. If spiritualist, you can do both discovery and expansion. And, as spiritualist, youre most interested in the Zroni anyway. So bonuses everywhere by just adapting a slightly weird surveying pattern.

Look again! Auto forge is not free it uses 10 energy and 50 materials which is no different than how its converted any where else, double materials equals half alloys.. In this case 50 materials for 25 alloys NOT FREE

"Free" pop-wise I believe is what he means, you can have those pops on other jobs, and pops make the game, and break it in the end game slowdown, lol. Definitely get what you mean though, as I said this same thing out loud to my computer as normal sane people do.

In my actual game I have zroni , I would like to ask two things: is it rare to find Earth? , is it rare to find so many mega-structures around your systems?

i think 50 %, if not sparned by an empire. depends on the size, and what you define as near.

I’ve found the Sol system will commonly appear with the humans as a primitive race (I’ve seen them appear anywhere from medieval technology levels to space age technology levels) even in the smallest galaxies (edit: if they aren’t already an empire) but I’ve found it rare for mega-structures to be near your systems. In most games you’ll get 1 mega-structure in a smaller galaxy (I usually play in smaller galaxies) though occasionally you might get 2 or even three, but also sometimes you’ll get a galaxy with none. The thing is, even when you have two or three, they’re placed randomly, so the chances one will spawn near you are low.

Is Wanderlust that event chain where you get an Extradimensional Invaders-style Science Ship? If so, I got this one once, not long after I bought Stellaris (which was around the time Synthetic Dawn was aboug to be released), and I thought the ship was so pretty and unique I didn't want to risk losing it. So I made it do Assist Research in my capital system. :3

@@katier9725 The one with the fancy alien science ship happens when one of your science ships jumps to another system and ends up getting yoinked into another dimension for a while then they come back with half the crew missing, later the crew that was missing reappears with the fancy ship and you have the option to either keep the ship and the crew or destroy them.

I have almost 3000 played hours of stellaris and all the events have happened to me (the one with the towel on several occasions) but from everything you mentioned, I had never, never found out about the technology of the fallen empires. You have opened a new universe of possibilities for me aspec

Literally just got the pentagruel yesterday for the second time. Idk if it matters but always use a scientist over lvl 5 ideally with an ascension perk trait (psychic, cybernetic, erudite) because I’ve had both happen when I did that

There was a period during my stellaris career where I was obsessed as playing machine gestalt consciousness and every three runs I got the Zroni. And I was always pissed because I wanted the Cybrex for the war forms and ringworld. After 2019, I have never seen the event ever again.

Thanks for telling me Wanderlust results in the unbidden coming; I had it happen and knew something was amiss when I got a light science bonus for it. I also got the one with the note from the future, and the voidwyrm one where I blew up a star system and got a dimensional horror defending a key gateway to my empire as well as void beams

So literally right after your first rare events video I started a new campaign and got the blue lotus event. Over 1400 hours in the game and I had never seen it before. I don't know what magic you have but here is hoping to other rare events firing after watching this video.

I got a towel on my latest playthrough. I immediately got the reference from the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. I had no idea it was so rare.

I got wanderlust for the second time when playing psychic squid a few weeks ago. It had been so long since I had seen it that I had forgotten it existed and didn't recognize the event name.

Hey Aspec! I wasn't sure where to put this request so I just stuck it here. I was wondering if you could make a video breaking down sectors, how they work, if/when to use them, how you manage them, and how to maximize their utility. I know this has been an opaque and poorly understood/supported feature in the game forever. And I've messed with them a few times, but I wont lie, I couldn't really tell if I needed to use them or not. Id love a pros take on them. Hopefully you could cover this topic at some point.

3049 hours of play time and i have had the stay calm event once before it made me laugh when i got it and showed a bunch of friends it was one of those moments of "they did this did they really add this to the game?" mostly as we hunt for references and were not expecting our Friday night stellaris game to become such a session but we didn't think much of how rare it was but you explaining how rare it actually is makes it make a lot of sense why my luck sucks so much otherwise in stellaris

I once got the Grand Herald in a Devouring Swarm game right before the nerf, and steam-rolled 3 empires that were Superior to me prior to getting it, then never saw it for about 300 hours of playtime before the next time I saw it, in a hostile empire. I got the towel once but did not know it was so rare. I have never gotten Zroni when playing as a Spiritualist, but I often get it playing Materialist for some reason.

I had the towel event happen a few times, mainly because I play desert worlds a lot. Didn't know it was that rare. Pretty cool stuff.

Surprisingly. The two rarest events I've gotten several times each. However his more common events I've never seen or have gotten so very rarely I personally consider it damn near impossible.

I don't remember what it's called, but my faction all had an event where a beam of energy spawned over our capital planets. So far, I've only had the option to keep it or remove it. I kept it, and I don't know what's going to happen. Nothing has popped up yet, but I wait with anticipation.

I have gotten the cybrex as normal precursors. Get an event, get a bunch of artifacts and their system with their (edit: abandoned) ringworld will spawn.

Idk, but lately I haven't been seeing the Rubricator event spawning. It's a amazing event that after finishing the excavation site you have to fight a dragon for the Rubricator item which just creates free artifacts which can be used for the reverse engineering minor artifacts skill.

Aspec there are a few other ways of getting precursor buildings, one of which basically guarantees you one and that's the find a female scientist stranded on a wrecked ship anomaly, when she joins your empire she will later give you a new technology you have not researched yet, so if you get her late in the game and have already researched most of the technology that gives you something new, there is a very high chance that she will give you a precursor building.

Pentagruel literally happened for me the other day and something I didn't realise before was that you actually get a unique dialogue with the curator enclave afterwards. Never saw that before.
