The KLR650 was perfect for this ride.
This was a 300 mile loop out of Utah and up through the Nevada desert to have a look at the Big Rock Wilderness area and then on back into Utah. Mostly asphalt.
I decided to ride the dirt back into Utah after passing through the small town of Caliente, Nevada and felt I would more than likely make it through just fine.
You see, we had a huge weather system pass through a week earlier dumping lots of rain and snow and I was a little concerned about the dirt not being dirt but a mix of snow and mud instead that would sink my 500 pound KLR.
And I was close to being right. It got a little spicy on the final stretch and I had a few moments where the thought of getting the bike stuck in the mud and snow in a remote part of the high Utah desert might certainly be a possibility but I pushed through and completed the loop. Good fun indeed!
