Don't know about the updated version of "Suika combination", but in the previous one, merging two Suikas made a big Shinmyoumaru

Someone probably pointed it out, but the Suika combination game is based on a watermelon game called "Suika Game" that just exploded in popularity last month because of Japanese streamers playing it after already being released for 2+ years (basically what happened with Among Us).

They probably turned it into a feature once they found out. There are examples of bugs that turn out to improve a game and are thus promoted to features, that's how both game difficulty and modern fighting games got started.
