If they brought this back as its own game like OverWatch or HOTS or League etc where it's just a multiplayer only game but they actually supported it as a platform and it was done in the mostly original AC style I think it would be really popular. Its a shame they just dropped it after Black Flag and then never really came back

This was my favorite multi-player experience back in the day. I haven't played it in so long but it was nostalgic watching the game play in this video. I was actually debating on picking this up on stram while it was on sale but heard they took the servers down. I was sad,hoping they do bring it back as a standalone.

One of the best multiplayer experiences I've ever had. I put countless hours into this, I loved having the multiplayer trophy. I remember the day I killed someone in the last 10 seconds to take the lead after months of work, so I'm running around like a madman celebrating, only to get killed and lose the lead with 2 seconds left xD.

The multiplayer was very interesting since it was pretty different from others at the time. I didn't like achievements and trophies being tied to it but other than that I wish it would make a return maybe as a standalone.

The obvious solution to me was always to have a separate trophy list for multiplayer. Rarely do I see games do this though.

@@ink4852 this is main problem with multiplayer it just makes games undoable to platinum. Black Flag and Unity still has them for some odd reason. Ubisoft servers done even work

I was really good at AC:B multiplayer. I always ranked within the top 100 on the worldwide leaderboard, peaking at 23. I remember a guy called ABXantos was always floating around number 1, he was the only guy who consistently bested me (I don't think I every won a match against him!) Man, I wish I would've known multiplayer was still supported until 2022, I would've loved to play a few rounds to see if I still had the goods, lol

I've clicked on your video, cause I wanted to watch some of the multiplayer footages and that ending made me subscribe. I've played multiplayer mode a couple years ago of all three titles - Brotherhood, Revelations and the third one (the least) as I was boosting the trophies on my PS3. It's because the Ubisoft was shutting down the servers and apart from boosting up I had loads of fun when we've played some regular matches. :) These weren't perfect but what I loved about them is the constant suspense. I found myself thinking: -"Was I seen?" -"Where should I hide?" -"Is that my target? Yes! I got you, you little!" Very fun multi at times and it makes me sad that such a good content creator as you didn't receive deserved credit. Wish you and your wife all best! You've found a subscriber in me, cause you were honest and professional.

I'm so sad to not have realized the multiplayer was still going strong until it got shut down 😭 I fell in LOVE with this game, it was so original and ambitious, with super interesting characters not to mention the first time we can play as someone else than the typical assassin! It was one of those games that I was laughing out loud whether I was winning or losing, because of the funny glitches and exciting takedowns.

I loved Brotherhood, I played the multiplayer constantly back in the day, and recently bought Black Flag again just because it still has multiplayer games running now and then. I remember that the main problem and the reason that I think AC Multiplayer never caught on, is that in Revelations they added the Uplay Pass and required you to pay extra to access multiplayer. I used the two week free code that was provided with the game, and then went back to Brotherhood, but I imagine the damage was done and a lot of people never tried it again.

When I was younger I was really adamantly against the multiplayer because it was different but later on I really came to appreciate it. It's not perfect but it added value to the game that already was packed with content and it was overall just a fun experience that felt intelligent since it made you think about who was a target and how to hide yourself. Really ridiculous that they're being shut down imo since it costs almost nothing for Ubisoft and they rake in money every year hand over fist.

On your comment about the smoke bomb. You could walk right up to your target, throw a smoke bomb, wait for the little meter to fill, and then kill them and get the extra point bonus for waiting for it to fill and they just can't do anything about it lol Also I forget exactly, but you could use it to pick out your target from a crowd. Like I think real players would react slightly differently from NPCs when they're coughing. Or I could be misremembering that one. But I recall using both of these tactics.

Pretty sure you're right on both of those. I'm going to fully admit I never got as good with those as a lot of people were so I'm not an expert on them by any means but they definitely were a bit of an OP ability. It seemed like the argument was almost it's not OP because everyone can use the OP ability but it really messed with the flow of the game sometimes where you would just have multiple players spamming each other on it or someone would spam it and stop to stun you and you could stop and wait and they would think you were in it and then when it dissipated you'd run up and kill them instead so It was just a little bit of a weird mechanic. I think it improved over time but it certainly was never perfectly balanced in any game lol

@@DegenerateJay At least in Brotherhood the smoke bomb was def OP! Back in the day I ran smoke bomb and reset cooldown. And it's just universally applicable. Anyone tries to kill you throw a smoke bomb, anyone tries to stun you throw a smoke bomb, can't tell your target from the crowd throw a smoke bomb. The Prowler and the Smuggler were my favorite characters. For obvious reasons, the hoods and hidden blades.

True, this multiplayer is unique and special.. but somehow, Ubisoft left AC multiplayer community alone without support in 2014.. There are still lots of players trying to keep it alive, plpaying ACB/ACR/AC3 and AC4 in all platforms.. Now they are about to close the 1st 3 multiplayers, keeping only AC4.. That's a devastation.. The problem was how differently it had to be played from the main game. In deathmatch, if you run, you’re dead. New players had a hard time adjusting. Simple deathmatch is the best strategy multiplayer game I’ve played to this day.

I loved the assassins creed multiplayer. I've played all 4 versions of it with Revelations being by far my favorite. I would love it if Ubisoft decided to release a stand alone title just about the multiplayer since they seem to not wanna include it into the main series anymore. Hell, I'll even be down for something akin to Fortnite where they could implement "seasons" and release new maps, characters, costumes, & maybe even new abilities/perks. I just really want this to come back in some way!

This was the most creative and addictive game back then I loved it so much. But yeah this was back in the day when I didn’t know what “meta” was; mute + smoke bomb was pretty much the ideal build to completely shut down players, and everyone used it. I do remember in I think revelations the completely nerfed those abilities, which was fun to try new load outs, but brotherhood multiplayer was just so good back then.

game was amazing and had lots of fun. however one thing people like to forget whwn putting on the rose tinted goggles is that layer in the game's life, it became really boring as the competitive crowd came in. they realized that it was more efficient to be fast and loud instead of slow and subtle. unfortunstely there was not emough thought put into deterring it.

Personally I loved Brotherhood's multiplayer mode as nothing was recycled, the characters had a clear "upgrade path" in terms of their customization, and everything could be earned through playing enough, instead of what's happened with Ubisoft and its rampant greed when it comes to microtransactions in the form of "time savers". Players shouldn't need to pay real money to buy a costume for their character if you want them to stick around playing your game, prestige is a bunch of bullshit and locking ability upgrades behind it is dumb especially considering they tried to make you pay to unlock all the abilities instead of leveling up, and why settle for the same generic animations because the character has the choice to use a dagger instead of the sword which they were designed with and had animations suiting that weapon. AC Brotherhood having a unique cast of characters with their own animation set and the ability to unlock all your tools within the first leveling cycle to 50 meant that you could get everything through repeated play, and then once you had them all, you could focus on racking up points in each game and generally enjoying yourself enough to keep playing. The only good addition I find to the multiplayer series was when Assassin's Creed III brought out the Wolfpack mode for co-op play, which when you didn't get matched with a bunch of fucking idiots who would sprint at the targets and make them run, instead opting for stealthy kills, made it super enjoyable to play.

Felt Ac3 and Ac4 was a bit overloaded, almost confusing menu and I think they intodruced there the real money currency. Yet something missing AcB and AcR multiplayer had. I loved these first two and the different yet sometimes familiar maps. Especially running up a wall and jumping back when you had a follower on you...actually got quite a few salty messages because of that. 😂😂

Have to disagree on the progression system. I have zero interest in cosmetics and battle passes so games today fail to hold my attention vs these old school games where the more you played the more perks, weapons and abilities you got.
