1. George Monro was truthful but somewhat manipulated Shay. - The poison factories are not used on the population but rather on the Templars or other corrupt groups. - Shay is being manipulated into a traumatized state which is not a good thing. - Despite this, Monro grew to care for Shay as a Templar comrade and recommended Haytham to let Shay be a Master Templar. 2. It is likely Achilles wanted to make the Colonial Brotherhood similar to that of Hassan-I-Sabbah's assassins (public but shadowy at the same time). - To be honest, Sabbah broke the second and third creed tenants which are never to compromise the Brotherhood despite saying he did not do so. -This mindset might be due to how Achilles was still grieving the loss of his wife and son which was mentioned a lot in the game. - Shay likely spared Achilles, knowing that the Assassins are still needed to protect America from the Templars if need be. 3. At his heart, Shay is an Assassin but is trying to change the Templar Order into one that actually cares for the lives of its citizens which is why he was involved in the planning of the French Revolution but didn't realize how bloody the Revolution would go due to Germain corrupting the Revolution. It should be noted that Haytham and the Templars wanted the American Revolution to have a peaceful end but Connor accidentally caused the Revolution to end with so much blood and carnage based on misinformation (Pitcairn actually wanted to negotiate with Samuel Adams and John Hancock but the Assassins accidentally thought or were misinformed that Pitcairn was going to kill them.

I will admit, in real life it is true that in any conflict things are not all black or all white. There can be heroes on both sides. However, from a personal preference I would definitely prefer to side with the assassins because they at least want to allow humanity freedom of choice. While the Templars want to take away that freedom due to some misguided belief that independent thought and individuality only breeds chaos. I also believe you are right about Shay and Achilles. If everyone had just sat down and talk things out like adults that whole mess would have been resolved a lot better. But then, I suppose we wouldn't have gotten much of a story. I'm also pretty sure both Shay and Achilles were too angry at each other to talk rationally. I'm not saying that makes it right. But it does make them human. And believe me, I speak from experience.

It's a few years outdated, but we did actually make an Isu lore, link the description. But yes you're correct. Precursor is a nice, understandable word for people who aren't lore aficionados though, plus we think that's the only thing they call the Isu in Rogue, but we could be wrong.
