I think Venice was my favourite city in the Ezio saga. The water added an almost magical aspect to it, and I'm glad to see it looks just as beautiful in reality. Awesome video!

I went to Venice in 2014. I finished AC1 to Rogue & Black Flag in 2013. I remembered tearing up when I finally had the chance to step my feet in Venice. It was like a dream come true. I had fallen in love with the water city ever since I was a kid; so long ago I forgot exactly when. My determination to go there got even bigger when I read Aqua & Aria manga by Kozue Amano (I suggest anyone who loves Venice to read them!) and especially when I played AC 2. Gosh, I swear when I stepped into Venice, exploring Piazza San Marco and the Basilica, I had the strongest dejavu, like I had already been there before. The same happened when I visited Sistine Chapel. Thank you, Assassin’s Creed 2. I only wish Ubisoft still cared about the actual storyline and not just upgrading the graphic like they do now :(

Wow. Just wow, this video is so well done that I should try to share it even with friends that are not that interested in AC. They could still like it.

Been to Venice and had on a shirt with hood similar to a white assassin hood. Will say I was actually able to find my way around Venice with my knowledge of AC2.

Venice was my favorite par to play and explore in AC2, the beauty of the city and the size of area and all the things that happened in the story there were just amazing. and like I said before I think the game captured that city and vibe best of all... I have to admit I was nostalgic when I was playing the game wishing I could stroll through 15th/16th century Venice and experience that side instead of hectic overcrowded modern day Venice. p.s. the amount of research you do is AMAZING thank you for that learned new things :)

Another outstanding entry in your pilgrimage series, I too have been to Venice in person and know what you mean by the bleeding effect in St Marks Square, the recreation in the game is dead on for this real life location. I love the musical score they use for Venice in Assassins Creed 2 as it is one of the best I have ever heard in any movie or video game.

Yeah, I couldn't wait to make this episode because of the Venice tracks :)

By the way, did you knew St Mark's Campanile (San Marco's Bell Tower) was completely destroyed in 1902? The campanile got seriously damagedon many occasions over the years. it was burned down in 1417 and 1489 and even damaged by an Earthquake in 1511. than in 1548 and 1565 it was damaged by lightning ,and again in 1658! and even more ligthnings...The campanile was damaged by lightning again in 1761 and 1762. Finally, in 1776, it was equipped with a lightning rod. in July 1902, the north wall of the tower began to show signs of a dangerous crack that in the following days continued to grow. Finally, on Monday, July 14, around 9:45 am, the campanile collapsed completely... The same evening, the communal council approved over 500,000 Lire for the reconstruction of the campanile. It was decided to rebuild the tower exactly as it was, with some internal reinforcement to prevent future collapse, plus installing an elevator. Royal Privy Councillor and scaffolding specialist Georg Leib of Munich was the first to donate his scaffolding to rebuild St. Mark's Campanile, on July 22nd, 1902. ]Work lasted until March 6, 1912. The work was carried out by the construction firm of G.A.Porcheddu. The new campanile was inaugurated on April 25, 1912, on the occasion of Saint Mark's feast day, exactly 1000 years after the foundations of the original building had allegedly been laid.

Just got back from Venice yesterday, my partner surprised me for my 30th birthday because she knew I've always wanted to go especially since AC2 (around Carnival too). Just wish the game had a warmer atmosphere in Venice. In the game it looks like the foggiest place in England. While Italy IRL gets a lot of sunshine during the year. But thanks for the amazing video. I'll be travelling there as soon as this corona madness is over.

I was there many years ago and felt throughout that I had been there before. At one point during the visit, I said to my companions: "around this corner there will be a bridge." And VOILA! There it was, just as I had seen it in the game.

I remember when I went there were so many people as so many birds. One actually flew and took my friends lunch (LOL) that was the first place I went on my trip and I got to tour the doges palace and see the dungeons at the bottom pretty cool. And it didn't smell bad so that was good lol
@YakuKikyo10 жыл бұрын
Had visited the city - before even playing AC - and what I remember of it is how dirty it was and smelly from the stagnant water. Oh and the number of pigeons was astouning, it had been the first time I had seen so many at the same place. XD
@loomer10 жыл бұрын
YakuKikyo Yeah my gf and I had heard about the smell but when we visited it actually wasn't bad at all. I wonder if it's gotten better over time or maybe if it varies by time of year.

Now tell me...Once,or at least what I remember,having a "trip" with Gondola was a bunch of money,most didn't dare to ask...I was many times at Venice,but yeah I didn't get the chance...xD Anyway what I love the most in Venice is Piazza San Marco,once,now you can't,when I was a child you could feed the pidgeons,there were thousand and even they stood on your shoulders or hands...I miss those days,now you can't anymore...I find the square a pit poor :( I also enjoy the masks,I bought some in Venice ^^ Did you have the chance to visit some "islands" of Venice..Like Murano,etc? At Murano they work the glass and produce things with glass ^^
@loomer10 жыл бұрын
***** we did go to Murano! it was really awesome :)

Hm, I went to Venice for the first time a couple of days ago, and there still were a lot of pigeons. It was very crowded because of the Carnival, but there must've been about 50 pigeons right outside of the Basilica in one spot, and I did hear that feeding them was illegal but it did happen just like you said. Some even stood on the heads. Guess those other tourists used the chance while the square's crowded to attract them, and not alert the authorities, lol. Only thing that sucks is that I only had 5-6 hours to be there and only managed to visit San Marco and San Polo districts. Also a shame that I wasn't there during the night, I bet Venice is magical during the night, just as it is in the game. Such a beautiful city.
