People forget this year they removed a game from people's libraries. They have microtransactions for all their latest single player games. So not only are they charging more for "early" access, just delayed access for people paying 70 dollars. So it's $130 to get the day one content in the game the arbitrary cut out BUT you have to preorder it to get this day one content, and the game will have microtransactions facilitated by a super grind and daily log ins, AND they can and will remove the game from you eventually.

Valhalla I think takes 200 hours to finish lol, so unnecessary, you are not Persona 5 or Xenoblade nor do you have the same content and story length as such a game. The real issue is the pricing and monetization scheme. Using Yasuke as a main character gives Ubisoft a very convenient way to deflect all criticism and bludgeon people into submission. I also wouldn't be surprised if Ubisoft is intentionally stoking the fires of racism to distract from how insane their prices are. My only issue with Yusuke being the protagonist is that 1. He was never a samurai. This is a fact. He was a retainer and there is 0 evidence he was a samurai 2. There are a lot of asians, particularly men that ive talked to that are very upset that the main character is not asian, this is the first one in japan and they removed the japanese male(which most guys would wanna play) from the game based in japan while all the other games had accurate races playing in their actual settings but now that they did this specifically to japan it feels deliberate attack against japanese people and i tend to be of that mindset even though im white, it does feel that way since we had white viking main characters in europe, white french main characters in france, brownish skinned middle eastern characters in the middle east, black skinned african character in Africa and now that its in japan we get a black guy? I complain about black washing white culture too but ubisoft never did that to us and i did appreciate that but why did they have to do japanese people dirty like this? Thats so messed up. The best way to do it, if Ubisoft was smart which they aren’t but if they were they would have 2 japanese characters be the main 2 characters(like in valhalla or they could both be different like they have here) but make them both japanese THEN make a DLC that has Yasuke and explore his story, the main characters get to be asian which would be the proper way AND they still appease the blacks with the yasuke dlc standalone expansion revolving around his story

I just can’t understand why these game companies keep sabotaging themselves. Nobody wants microtransactions and always online in single player games. Does exactly that. Nobody wants more “live service” games. Companies keep pumping them out like there’s no tomorrow. Nobody wants forced sbi. Instead of making a samurai game with a Japanese samurai they chose the only black person in the whole country… why. We as gamers have made ourselves vocal about what we want and what we hate, yet these companies give us the exact opposite. More microtransactions, more live services, more sbi games, no bloodborne remaster. It’s really not that hard, i don’t understand why these companies don’t listen to the fans, they pump out the exact opposite of what gamers want then complain when their investment is dead in arrival, and claim that single player games are dead, uses that as an excuse to pump out more live service trash. There's nothing historically significant about Yasuke. Yusake was kept around by Nobunaga because he was entertaining to him, he was a novelty, like an exotic dog. No Yusake statues, never fought in one battle, no meaningful impact whatsoever, and barely a mention in Japanese culture. So, the exact opposite of William Adams, that so many people want to portray, as just another Westerner in an Asian game, but not all things are equal.

What I dont like what they are doing is the season pass that you need to purchase once a new season pass is released and sometimes you also need to purchase the dlc. I used to be a huge AC fan and I've waited over a decade for a AC game in this time period i remember they teased this setting in AC Rogue over a decade ago. Once they said this game was going back to the RPG elements like Odyssey and Valhalla had instead of back to classic like the more recent Mirage had they totally lost me though. I loved AC before the RPG games, Origins even kinda gets a pass, it was an RPG game but it still retained enough of the classic feel. That being said no one will ever be able to convince me the RPG AC games without stealth mechanics or stealth gameplay are proper AC games that just does not make sense.

Every main Assassin's Creed game, you've been playing a protagonist that's native to the region. For example, AC 2 you played as an Italian man, AC Unity, you played as a French man, AC Origin, you played as an Egyptian man, AC Odyssey, you played as Greek protagonist, AC Valhalla, you played as Norse protagonist. For some f**king reason, in Japan, you played as an African man. Why ? Yasuke's story isn't even that interesting. He was in Japan like 1 or 2 years before Nobunaga eat the dirt. But the real question is, why played as a real life historical character ? Every single Assassin's Creed game, you played as a fictional character with real life historical people as an NPCs like Da Vinci, George Washington, Socrates. Do they really want to put certain agenda that much ? Wouldn't it be appropriate to play as a fictional Japanese samurai and experience Sengoku Japan ? What a joke. I hope Ubisoft go bankrupt.

Alexx, I just want to say PLEASE read up on the real "Yusuke". He was a slave. He was brought to Japan as a slave with the Jesuits. "Yasuke" was his literally his "slave name" and he was taken by Oda Nobunaga because he found his height and skin color interesting. I mean they literally tried to scrub the black off him. He was never taught to fight. He was dressed up and treated much like dwarves in European courts - a "curiosity", a "freak" kept around for amusement. I'd say more, but I want people to actually look into it past Wikipedia. All I'm saying is that the little history we do know about him just makes using his existence further, and worse lying about it to do so, as a virtue signal extremely distasteful. Further, to claim that a game set in Feudal Japan NEEDS a black character for "representation" just makes this whole thing even more distasteful IMO. I don't know why, but recently Western developers have been showing a lot of distain for Japan and Asian people & companies as a whole. This is just yet another example.

Before we even get to the pricing I want to fess up. This is my fault. I bought Origins and Odyssey's Gold Versions. The Nice Steelbook, all the DLC all the stupid extra currency shit (which I never used), I did that. With Origins I was pretty happy with my purchase, I adored that game. Odyssey...didn't love as much, but it was still good. Haven't bought anything since though. But I admit it, I contributed to the problem of them thinking $100+ special editions with nothing but Early Access Bull Shit would fly. It was me. I was part of the Problem.
