Even beyond the Black Samurai, this game has an issue with historical fact: Samurais WERE NOT Ninjas - they were (mostly) Honourable Warriors of Noble birth or retainers who were able to 'earn' nobility in battle and become Samurai. Ninjas, on the other hand, were clans of lower caste assassins that KILLED Samurai for other Samurai - the Samurai hated the Ninja and vice-versa. To equate a Samurai as a Ninja is as insulting to Japanese culture (IMO) as having a black Samurai.

What's bizarre to me about this is that, the idea of a black samurai in fiction is not new. There was a manga (Afro Samurai) back in the late 90's that featured a black samurai that was popular enough to have an anime adaptation. And fictional ninja girls are so common as to be a trope. So why the controversy? I guess because Ubisoft was motivated by politics, not entertainment. Thus, sadly, the games story is likely to suck.
@NugundamsisntforshowАй бұрын
That and those never leaned into historical accuracy something like afro samurai for example was straight up set in a alternate world.
