For me Black Flag is the best, whilst the modern day is weak it’s not as weak as a lot of the later entries, but the historical story is the absolute peak. A man so driven by personal gain and glory with an outsider view on the Assassin and Templar conflict Edward’s interactions with both factions and the side characters is incredible. His growth across the game is noticeable when he starts losing people and the conclusion to his arc is masterful. I love the reference to the Jackdaw and Eagle fable it sums up the story perfectly. The parting glass was beautiful as we see everyone Edward lost on his journey. Black Flag stands head and shoulders above all the other games for me

@@TheStickz6 it still doesn't make any sense to me how she could call out desmond and also that Ezio hears the same name. because how could she know that was going to be his name and not only this, but also for the fact that Ezio heard the same name. the only idea that i could possibly believe this narrative is the Isu would have to use this name to be given to desmond somehow via through the brotherhood and his father and mother possibly had some kind of isu message communicated to them about the role that their son would eventually follow, and then that's the name they gave their son, it was not a name they chose, it was a name they were given and the importance of his name. now we were never given this story in any of the games or even the books that i know of, it's just a theory that i have because it wasn't really explained. is it possible the Animus is simply translating the name cipher like the other isu was using but because the animus translated cipher to desmond as another theory or is it more believable that desmond was given the name to his parents to give to him due to some vision they went through? nobody really talks about this point in all the years of playing these games, it's just assumed that the isu were magical beings, when in reality they were just far more advanced than us and had manipulated their DNA genome to have these other abilities.

yeah, the Ezio games were written very well, but it makes sense because this was back when the writers of the original game in this series was still influencing the story, after he left the story went into some really weird directions. i know this guy in this video says blackflag was the best, but it never came off that good to me, the gameplay was fun sure, but the story was lacking in many ways to me that often felt disconnected to the series as a whole, i feel like he's just biased because he loved the idea of Edward and the gameplay aspects of the pirate life. the story was kind of cool, i mean he just came across this other guy who basically tried to rob him after a shipwreck and then found an opportunistic way in becoming that guy by killing him and pirating his identity for himself and then seeing the larger conspiracy involving this other faction called the Templars and just winging it with the story with the assassins, the bizarre thing was the story involving kidd and a few other figures who got to know who Edward was as a man somehow showed up in his circles but they were assassins i guess? like again the story was kind all over the place and didn't make a whole lot of sense. like you could tell the main original writers of this series were long gone and didn't really have any influence on the story anymore at this point, the original writers had done so well in their execution in how the story was represented.

@@TheStickz6(im just going to send out a copied & pasted comment that I've made when 'So Jay Says' asked for a debate regarding how Rogue isn't what it seems, so here it goes) so 1st off, 'chaos' is something that is a detrimental factor within the nature that is the group known as 'Assassins' (it's also key to note that both the Assassin's & Templars are in essence the exact same; 2 sides of the same coin as funnily enough, Rogue within the title screen showed exactly that) - with that pointed out, you can then pinpoint exactly to which the case can be made for (or against) the Assassin's Creed in general. The 1st game handles it in a manner that isn't on the nose like Rogue is, but done in a manner through one's progressive actions coming to terms and how it shapes someone such as Altair within the Brotherhood; Altair uses his own status as the youngest Master Assassin to fulfill his desires to what he sees fit and never taking into the consideration that he was subject to from birth as an Assassin or a part of the Creed; Altair breaks the very 3 tenets of the creed with malicious intent of fulfilling his desires & using his status to his own advantage, he goes from offing an old man because he's stands in a way from 'it' aka the artifact that Altair as the perceived higher ranked Assassin scolds his other associated Assassin's for one of them doubting Altair's methods in particularly such as offing an innocent, to which it breaks the 1st tenet of the Creed. Altair then breaks the 2nd by exposing himself intentionally which leads to breaking the 3rd tenet by compromising his brethren and the Assassin Brotherhood as a whole... to make it short, the chaos that Altair caused came back to bite him for the consequences that came with it and when Altair faced the repercussions, he devalued it like he knew better against the mentor Al Mualim to which it was decided for Altair to be supposedly 'reborn' - now to further establish the 'chaos' that is rooted within the Assassin's from the 1st game is how Al Mualim despite his wise intent for (& against) the Creed, he uses it to his advantage to what he ultimately sees fit and while Al Mualim did respect the Creed unlike Altair, he in his own way was drawing parallels with Altair for most of his life until he was 'reborn' by what it seemed like it was just Al Mualim who made the stab knock out Altair, however Al Mualim used the apple at Altairs lowest in his will to be influenced by the Apple of Eden, the power drawn Al Mualim of what he perceived to be fit for his own world views, the world views between Assassin's & Templars are not completely different nor far off to each other at all; this is where Otso Berg from Rogue goes to explain how Al Mualim's philosophy was more that of an Templar than an Assassin despite not actually being on both sides at all. one more thing I'd like to add for Altair and it's his reconciliation for the Assassin's Creed & coming to terms of how this conflict is made to be as through striving for 'chaos' in juxtaposition of what Al Mualim holds true and for the Creeds sake while doubting the whole process of Al Mualim and the Creed that are all against the Templars of just being the 'big bad' of it all... 2ndly (and perhaps finally), Rogue isn't about just a simple switch-eh-roo for the presentation of the Assassin's & Templars to fit the criteria of the story of how it seems and how that apparently boils down towards to just 'negligence' as if it's only done in Rogue with your point of 'negligence' for or against the Colonial Brotherhood of Assassin's. So with that pointed out, the Colonial Brotherhood are no different than the 1st games' brotherhood nor AC2s - Brotherhood ESPECIALLY Revelations which primarily stems from Ezio's partake of recognising what the Creed is standing for while revelling on what the Creed stands for for the sole purpose of 'Revelations' - and his part in life for the Assassin's (which Ezio never wanted himself and it instead chose him for seemingly out of spite because of the circumstances that shaped Ezio into being an Assassin despite never wanting it) but back to Rogue, the 'chaos' was always there within Assassin's Creed, the only difference was that someone whos an assassin within a Brotherhood chose to go against the Creed by seemingly betraying the Assassin's for what they were striving for (at a cost) against the 'big bad' aka the Templars, however there's no determination of right or wrong (in general especially) within the whole ordeal of Shay betraying the Brotherhood and vice versa since both were a subject to the matter at hand, the Colonial Brotherhood never sought out to actually destroy cities since Achilles who was informed by Adewale, thought that it was just a random earthquake and not realising that very artifact was the sole cause behind it, so while Shay did thought he was right by betraying the Assassin's, it was just a matter of not taking into the consideration of an outlook onto different perspectives which goes for both Shay & the Brotherhood against each other and there's more reasons for this such as the desperate strive for seemingly 'winning' against the Colonial Templars since the French did aid the Assassin's a lot by teaming up (although that comes with a cost of contradicting the Creed by not sticking to the tenets especially since that the Colonial Assassin's or i think it was Adewale's involvement that actually went against the French while still teaming up with the French because the French were holding up sl__ves and since Liam brought that up to Shay, Shay started doubting the Creed/Brotherhood), then there's also the fact that Achilles as the mentor of the Brotherhood was grieving for his wife & child's d_ath, which it did affect Achilles a lot by what you hear of Liam. For Shay's reasons however, it was the fact that he never held the Creed to high enough pedestal as the others did to which it indefinitely shaped how others perceived Shay because Shay just took it as a opportunity to move forward with his childhood friend Liam who gave him this path, however that isn't the case for the other Master Assassin's joining the Colonial Brotherhood since Liam, Hope etc. took it as a face value level of meaning of what the Creed stood for to which Achilles made the move for thr others to take this path, and it isn't just the process of an invitation that shifted the others of believing this way for the Creed, it was already in a preconceived notion of wanting 'freedom' - above all else against imperialism & colonism that Humanity sets forward to for a matter of dominance & control, however for Shay's process of recruitment was much different than the others since Shay spiraled down a much darker path in his life by getting drunk and starting bar fights, because his dad who was one of the ppl that Shay held dear was gone and seemingly Liam too because he left unknowingly from Shay's pov to join the Assassin's in actuality, but that all came to a deformation for Shay to join the Assassin's by Liam persuading him take this path in his life. so to end it all off Shay's pov comes from an noble yet idealistic view/perspective on the world that got extremely trifled with, however he spirals down in a much darker path because of it (there's a video called 'Assassin's Creed: Brogue' that further details Shay's part within the Templars and how much he spirals down from his beliefs into what he has shaped to become), then there's the Assassin's who'll go seemingly into desperate measures against those who are in the opposition to win at seemingly 'all cost' - which you can witness the hypocrisie's of the Colonial Brotherhood by teaming with the French & going against them for holding sl_ves while in later times do or revel into the same exact thing as the French did with perhaps desperate measures against the Templars who stand for 'control' above all else in the name of peace.

@@TheStickz6 Mirage started development as a DLC, and is meant as an origin story for Basim. Who knows how important will that be in future games. But still, not as big as the other titles, could be considered as Liberation or Freedom's Cry. As for Unity again, besides that it does nothing to further the overall plot, it's also a story of Arno simping for Elise, who is pretty often using him for her own goals.
