Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Wrath of the Druids DLC released on May 13th, and while my expectations certainly weren't high I still was disappointed by this DLC. It has all of the problems from Assassin's Creed Valhalla's main game and then some, with some very glaring issues and lots of filler, copy and pasted content that make up a larger majority of the Wrath of the Druids DLC. I am pretty negative about the dlc in this video but it's all my opinion and if you like the Wrath of the Druids that is completely fine, I'm just simply stating how I felt about it, so there's no need to get angry or take offense if you disagree. If you enjoyed this Wrath of the Druids review or found it helpful I would really appreciate it if you considered dropping a like on the video and subscribing to the channel, and other than that thanks for watching and have a great day assassins!!!!

Origins is probably the last 'assassin' game ( somewhat). I played orgins and then odyssey back to back few days agon and I couldn't stand odyssey at all. It just feels so childish, cartoonish and just a witcher 3 knock-off. Origins despite it's flaws has such an environment and ambience that you just don't notice the hours that you have sunk into the game doing pretty much repetitive stuff. Despite being repetitive atleast the camps were designed in a way that many required different approach and some were legit challenges, like wall of the ruler.

This DLC was refreshing to me all because of the fact that there is new story and characters, along with weapons, armor, abilities, etc. If people are willing to spend money on the helix store, they’d be getting their money’s worth with the dlc alone. I do agree with the fact that it somewhat has the feel of the base game, but not if you immerse yourself in the new gear and actually seek out to fight the new enemies. As an Irishman who studied some ancient Irish history in university there is no evidence that there was a high king of Ireland, there were kings/chieftains who called themselves that and had poets call them that in songs as a form of propaganda and to boost their egos. There were kings, over-kings and kings of over-kings, they paid a tribute to the king above them in the likes of cattle etc. There is also no evidence of a centre of power at the Hill of Tara, only in mythology.

Valhalla is the first 'RPG' Assassin's Creed game I've played. Over 100 hours in and I feel like I'm nowhere near done with it. That being said, the setting of Wrath of the Druids has been a delight to me. I've come to desire an Assassin's Creed game set in ancient, perhaps pre-Christian Ireland. But seeing as useful and reputable information of the time is scarce, Ubisoft was brave enough to try to do the Irish setting justice, albeit in the time period they chose for Valhalla. My own preferences aside, the tangents in the Wrath of the Druids DLC are enough to keep my interest. It's not just a copied and pasted version of the base game. It does try to distinguish itself with the trading posts and whatnot, and to its credit, it does feel like a full expansion. The price isn't even an issue when you consider Wrath of the Druids was meant to be a stand-alone DLC. $25 isn't that bad when you're getting 20-30, if not more, hours, including all side content and collectables. For reference, that's about the same time it actually takes me to do a playthrough of Bloodborne (with Old Hunters DLC and decent Chalice Dungeon exploration). I paid more for the entirety of Bloodborne and its DLC than I did for that $25 -- and Bloodborne is actually a full game! I believe I bought my copy of the DLC at a discounted price, but even at the initial $25 price, you're getting more than your money's worth. To its credit, Wrath of the Druids I've done just about everything in the DLC, and even though it's tedious at times, the same can again be said for the base game. But even then, I feel like the collectables are more manageable than the main game, and aren't as big of a hassle. I'm about halfway through the main story arc of the DLC, but getting all the collectables and completing everything has just been easier to accomplish or tolerate imo. For that matter, I'm also over halfway done with the trophies that come with the DLC. All this, and for less time than I've done for the same level of completion in the main game. To get back on track, though Wrath of the Druids doesn't try to fix the problems that Valhalla had, and that's fine imo. I feel like these games get so much hate because they do bother to do something besides the somewhat overdone Assassins vs Templars cliches the series has become known for. I'm glad we got games in which the Dev teams were allowed to try new things, let alone DLC that facilitated their freedom to tell broader stories. The more we expect a series to stay the same, the quicker stagnation destroys it. I love the familiarity of the old games, but as someone who also loves RPG's, I've really enjoyed Valhalla and the DLC I've played thus far. I'm actually looking forward to doing the Siege of Paris DLC soon after I'm done with everything in Ireland. Maybe its all just preference, but I hope more people are able to give these games fairer and fairer chances, even long after Mirage and other games have come out. They may not be the best or the most akin to what we all know and love, but I still see them as pivotal points for the series. Valhalla may not be the best Assassin's Creed game, but its DLC is pretty on par for the quality and fun of the game, and I don't mean that in a negative way. The real pain in the ass is having to pay for helix credits, but that's its own thing entirely. Regardless, so many of the complaints made against Wrath of the Druids could easily be said about other Assassin's Creed titles. All of the games have been repetitive at this point, and the series itself has exemplified that in every game since AC1. You just notice it more in DLCs because they're tighter microcosms of the main game.

I got the season pass for Valhalla and I enjoyed some of the DLC. The pigeon coop missions were annoying and the trading posts was annoying, having to treck back and forth through the world just to build the post. Some of the missions were fun, like the ambush and I liked Ciara and Barid's character. The Children of Danu were just annoying as hell and the final mission was just horrible and lackluster. I also liked some of the new areas in Ireland

@@mik6908 cost doesn’t exactly prompt a comparison one game is from cdpr from 2015 and the other is from 2020 and a different studio who has different standards. Cdpr dlcs came out in 2015,2016 while Valhalla’s came out in 2021. Blood in wine is filled with between 10-15 hours, or 1/3 to 1/2 of filler. While Valhalla has roughly 2 hours worth of filler. Price for things changes in 6 or 5 years. Some studios are trying to make $70 the new industry standard. But when comparing a good dlc you shouldn’t be comparing something that is made by a completely different company. Different people are working on those games. When comparing value it should be compared to previous dlcs that studio has done. Then you can see if quality has increased or decreased. A comparison between two different studios with two different dev teams doesn’t fo anything. It’s like making an apples to oranges comparison

A review from myself personally: Once you finish the story (which is decent to really good at some times), theres absolutely nothing to do. The Kings Plea is treated as an end game activity yet theres absolutely no reason to play any of them. The ring forts as well as Dublin's renound mean absolutely nothing when it all comes down to just waiting for a chest to be filled up to cash in on rewards. Everything else? Absolutely pointless. If you enjoyed running around like a viking on crack to shoot cursed objects or open chests, congratulations, you get to do it all over again. Except this time? You're going against guys with super powers for the sole excuse of "Eivor was high."

Ubisoft is often bad about making their DLC’s just a bunch of busywork with no narrative payoff whatsoever. Also aming on PS4 seems kinda odd to me so when I played it with mouse it was just leagues better. Now to answer your question about the developers they said if players wanted to Days Gone 2 to be released they should buy the game on the release date and for a full price instead of waiting for sales and ps plus games and so on. Like its our fault their game was generic (at least for me from the beginning especialy) and filled with bughs and glitches at the beginning :) I am actually one of those people who kinda did not enjoyed Days Gone it was meh in my opinion. I am a gameplay guy so the story didnt bothered me much but also it didnt help that it gets moving after like 15 hours :). So I dont even care about there not being the Days Gone 2 and after what the devs said about us fucking it up I dont even care about anything else what Bend studio releases. If they made another game I will probably buy it on G2A if I even buy it and not just pirated it. And I buy all my games I have pretty great library for a lowclass income citizen here in our country :) but no matter what people should enjoy whatever they like 💪 and if you like the developer support it why not. That why I buy every single game from Ubi while the others I just shoot the deal with G2A :) I stopped buying Rockstar games until they seriously change their whole fucking gameplay section and mission structure. With always driving to marker to start the mission then drive to a mission start with your fellaz, then something going wrong so you have something to shoot while everything being so fucking slow and scripted it doesnt feels like an open world at all. If you want more info about it and you are bored try NakeyJakey and his Rockstar is outdated or something like that its so on point I cant even enjoy any rockstar game anymore xDDD

As 1.2% of players in the world right now(From what achievement says) to fully complete this expansion on Series X, I can really say this expansion had so much potential however it fell flat on its face. The one cool thing was the trading posts and systems, however they dropped that one as well. The price is a standard DLC price, so people need to stop being poor. Not fully defending Ubisoft, however I will side with this video poster, it's very repetitive.

25 dollars seems reasonable because you are basically buying a new game and you can get better equipment in the dlc as well so it’s not really a waste and the storyline in the dlc is short but it doesn’t make it crappy, that’s just how dlc’s are.

Thanks for the heads up. Imo, Odyssey was the best one. Gameplay wise and graphics wise. The abilities were awesome, unlike Valhalla, the weapons were awesome, being able to change the look of gear and weapons without paying for it, unlike Valhalla, being able to craft your own arrows, unlike Valhalla and having more to do, unlike Valhalla, not getting bored, unlike with Valhalla. Origins was the worst of them all to me though. Again, thanks for the heads-up.

As an Irishman myself the base game itself was truly disappointing, riddled with bugs and issues from the beginning not to mention how horrible the combat felt. How they represented my country also ticked me off with how small they made it, I understand it needed to be condensed down however it just felt extremely rushed, smaller than needed to be and lifeless from what I have played of it so far. A true let down and an absolute devastating blow on my country and peoples representation for the first time (although in a DLC but with bugs etc) that I know many fellow Gaels were looking forward to. My gripes with the DLC was Eivor's cousin who had an Irish surname (Mac Ímair) Irish for Ivar who was the king of Dublin was called "the Boneless", no idea why this was left out yet The Steine was kept in which literally is in honour of Ivar the Boneless but I guess people like to argue they differ yet the annals align perfectly.

I bought the golden edition, and i do like the main game. For now, i need to download this DLC, and, im not very excited at all. The location looks a little bit, MEH. Blood & Wine, Hearts of stone, The Shadow broker, The DragonBorn. The Hidden Ones, Dead Kings, or any of the Souls saga and many others, looks more promising than this DLC. What a shame!

If you enjoyed the main game you'll enjoy this aswell. Maps actually pretty cool. I Really don't know why people expect dlcs to reinvent the wheel lol

@@user-fr7vi I will try it, that's for sure. But honestly i was more excited with the Hidden ones, or the Legacy of the first blade. Actually im very curious, about the one in Paris.

I think Ubisoft is mocking us, with DoR dlc, at this point. Literally, everyone asked for NG+, for the whole past year. That is all.

I just wish the Assassin Creed series would go back to the old day's none of this Mythology crap they could do that as Dlc, i like history and nothing ruins it more by having flying horses and stuff that's why i usually just play the base game and buy no dlcs

It's dreams and hallucination... how is that "unrealistic"? Also mythology is a huge part of norse viking era, i thought they did it perfectly and they teach you a ton about viking history in this game, i truly dont understand what you are complaining about...

@scottriddell3518 3 жыл бұрын
@@pinkeinke2 my bad didn't actually mean it to come across like the mythology was unrealistic because i di know it's a major part of the viking life and totally should be told in game just rather if it was a dlc and in the base game they just spoke about Valhalla just my opinion i know everyone has there own opinion and are totally allowed to , and i was mainly complaining about the cosmetic stuff with futuristic armour and horses and having a lynx as mount that's why i wouldn't buy dlc but yeah just my opinion dude 👌

@@scottriddell3518 yeah totally and of course we dont enjoy the same stuff so it's nothing and i understand where you come from, i love the older gen games and wish they went back but this style is the new they went for and i think Valhalla did a good job pleasing both but will be interesting what they will do with the next AC, cheers!

End of the day, you can give your opinion however if people want more of the same then the dlc is there, if they don’t then they can move on. No one is forcing you to pay and download this content. I for one loved the mission structure and I am looking forward to get my hands on this content.

Gamers with KZbin channels literally think they know everything and can do everything better, yet they actively try and make a living off someone else's content and never do anything original with their lives but complain. I enjoyed it too. It was a cool enough story and Ireland was a beautiful setting

Ghost of Tsushima is way better than the entirety of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, including the DLC. Not to mention it doesn't charge you for cosmetics and New Game + gives you even more free cosmetics and power-ups
