I also found Ezio's portrayal in this incredibly bizarre. Just in terms of how he's drawn, he looks a bit younger than he did in Revelations; there's no gray in his hair at all. Before I refreshed myself on the timeline I was wondering if Revelations took place later than I thought it did because it made no sense for him to be younger looking and to be training assassins casually after his big retirement moment.

I didn't really like the first two, or at least they didn't feel like AC. This one did. With twists and turns and all. And the way Char had to peel back the plot(with the scarf and the animus trying to hide the truth, and stuff). But honestly, I don't care for Ezio. He's too bland(though he is cool in Revelations, no typical hero anymore, but a wise yet sassy old man).

Ugh. I didn't really like this volume. I'm not sure if it's because it's been a few months since we read the previous volumes, but I just had no idea what was going on. Regarding Ezio, I was happy to see him. I thought he looked fine (better than he does in Revelations at least). It totally slipped my mind that he retired for good until you mentioned it. Even so, I could definitely see him taking a back seat and teaching younger Assassins what he knows, without getting involved in the conflict. (Maybe because his children hadn't been born yet??? So he wasn't trying to protect them by keeping out of Assassin business for good???) If I were being cynical I would say that Ezio's invovlement was just to get people reading. I'll also say: Ezio's story has been over for 6 years now. There are other characters that need expansion.

Ezio didn't look right. They should have drawn him like in the game or in "Embers." That would have done it for me.

Ezio did not retire completely when he got back from his trip he simply took the true role of Mentor and became a teacher before he completely retired as Mentor its even talked about in Assassin's Creed Revelations Novilization the games simply ended his adventures but not his role in the brotherhood until he had children it actually makes sense given Ezio giving that Piece of Eden Box to Shao Jun. while i agree that he should have his lip scar his grey edged haired appearance is that of how he looks at the end of Revelations when we see him in embers he is fully grey so this is obviously set almost right after he gets back from Constantinople.

While true that he did not retire immediately at the end of Revelations, the timeline still does not support his appearance in Homecoming. By that time he had retired and had both his children. Timeline below: 1510-1512 - Events of AC Revelations 1513 - Ezio retires from the Brotherhood and appoints Lodovico Ariosto as Mentor. Flavia is born. 1514 - Marcello is born. 1515 - Events of "Homecoming"
