I get what you're saying but this movie was not a " Remake" of the film Rio Bravo. John Carpenter drew some inspiration and concepts from Rio Bravo but definitely not a remake if that's what you thought Assault On Precinct 13 is! But both are great movies! I always say watch Rio Bravo first and then Assault On Precinct 13!

Some trivia from IMDB: 1) Shot in only 20 days. 2) Budget $150,000 (estimated) 3) The precinct's new address, 1977 Ellendale Place (written on a sign erected in front of the building), was director John Carpenter's real address when he first lived in Los Angeles. 4) Darwin Joston was John Carpenter's next-door neighbor at the time of filming. 5) John Carpenter wrote this film as a highly stylized, modern-day western, essentially remaking Rio Bravo (1959), which was directed by Carpenter's hero, Howard Hawks. 6) Leigh's name is an in-joke reference to Rio Bravo scribe Leigh Brackett. Wilson always asking for a smoke is a running gag inspired by the cigarette gags in Howard Hawks westerns. 7) John Carpenter was the film's editor, but he is credited under the pseudonym John T. Chance, which was the name of John Wayne's character in Rio Bravo. 8) The station house is referred to as "Precinct 9, Division 13", yet the sign above the door reads "Division 14". 9) For its running time length, the film does not have a lot of scenes, and that was intentional on John Carpenter's part. In order to both maximize the very limited budget that had been allocated for production, and to preserve editing choices inside the main story's focus, Carpenter wrote every scene to run as long as he could (within the bounds of still making sense) and filmed them to take up even more time on film than they did on the page.

Thank you, Rerunners, I re-ally ap-preciate you p-posting this classic movies. You avatar reminds me of the character, "Cookie", is a USAAF bomber crewman suffering from a PTSD induced stammer; from the classic 1952 war-prisoner drama, "Stalag 17" (starring William Holden and Peter Graves, based on a play). It's a drama set in WWII German prisoner-of-war camp barracks, with an informant giving away all the USAAF sergents carefully laid escape plans. A high tension "whodunnit" movie; with "Cookie" giving the movie audience the inside gen as the story develops. Any chance, Rerunner, you could post that classic movie?
