This is a short video showing the assembly of the Harbor Freight Franklin brand scaffold and my review.
I have been working on an enclosed porch remodel project and am preparing to rehab the soffit and fascia as part of that project. A scaffold would make this much easier to accomplish. So I decided to just go ahead and buy one instead of renting since I am sure I would be able to use it on some other jobs that need done as well. Also since I am sort of retired, I just don't work very fast any more and by the time I finished this with a rental I probably could have bought one anyway.
So if you have been wondering about this product have a look and I'll show you how easy it is to assemble and also the package sizes and weights if your planning to haul it home. In my area, there was only one available in a large area and I was not able to find that information out easily since nobody had one to measure.
Since this is a simple assembly and review the video is music free and short so you won't waste a lot of your time. Thanks for looking.

Quite excellent video, and some helpful tips! I already own one of these, and love it, but I watched this to remind me how to take it apart and put it back together as I take it to my daughter's house to use to paint her living room. Again, very well done -- thanks!

Thank you sir, especially for the full measurements of the carton. Think this will barely fit in my Jeep but will probably need to tear the carton apart in the parking lot. Thanks again!

@@alwaystinkering9579 ended up grabbing the home depot metaltech version as harbor freight was out of stock. Same size and you're right, it fit. Essentially the same scaffold just a bit more money at home depot. Thanks again. Will be using this to store my Jeep Wrangler's hardtop.

Thanks for your comment. Yeah I had the same thought and couldn't find that info so, I measured it for the video. It went in a Hyundai Tucson barely with the back seats folded and the right front seat empty and forward as far as possible. Tight fit but it worked.

@@alwaystinkering9579 Had the same experience but with a Corolla. Is it normal for the scaffold to be wobbling with all the safety pins in place while standing on the platform at 71 inches?

In this video I said that the wooden platform was about 1/4" plywood but it is actually about 3/8" which is much sturdier. Sorry for that error. Also after a couple weeks of use I am still very happy with the scaffold.

Nice review, thanks. But I'm also in my late 70's and had a few problems that the mfg could have prevented..I know it's priced at $220 so you really need 2 people to assemble and adjust it safely. 1. The wooden platform is very heavy and if you try to insert it into the side slots at a height of over 4 feet good luck. I had mine crash to the ground several times trying to hold it and insert at the same time. I finally made 2 wood slats to keep it from falling. (2) Definitely stain and varnish the wood platform before it rains.. one soaking and the multi-ply starts to warp. (3) Trying to adjust the height of the rails single handed is not as easy as the demo suggests. Once you remove the spring loaded pins the frame wants to come out of it's groove and trying to hold it in and up is very difficult. I made metal clips to prevent this. (4) Installing the wheels when upright is difficult because the scaffold wants to tip over until all 4 wheels are installed..good luck trying to keep it from falling.

A short video showing the assembly of this scaffold that I purchased from Harbor Freight. It sure makes some jobs a lot easier to do than working from a ladder.

great and instructive video - thank you for this. Do you know if these can be stacked? I saw some customer photos at harbor freight that looked like they were showing up to three on top of each other, but it wasn't stated if it was the same product, stacked. Or an upgraded/different version of the product.
@alwaystinkering9579

Yes, I am sure you can. It is the same unit. However , I believe that it is recommended to be only two high and that they be lashed down when used like that. There are other brands that use an outrigger but I don't see that with the HF unit. If I was using two and moving it around, I would get some type of outrigger arrangement. Also you would probably still need a ladder to reach your working height as you can climb up the side but there is no opening to climb through safely to the working plank. Thanks for your comment.

If you search the scaffold and then look at the manual of item #63050 on the Harbor Freight web site it shows the second stage installation on page 7.

@@alwaystinkering9579 thank you so much for your reply, and for the info based on your experience and knowledge. It's super relevant and helpful, and I feel quite confident now in purchasing 2 of these to be used separately, and maybe stacked together, when needed. I hope HF gives you a little something for showing their scaffolding in such a positive, safe, realistic, and easy to use light. You're video is great, but also serves as an honest ad for them and this product. It is to your credit alone that I'm going to buy them. Thanks again! Wishing for you; many joyful, productive, well-paid projects! :)

Hello,can you please tell me what is the exact height of the scaffolding with and without the casters. I’m planning to get 2 of these scaffolds but my ceiling is exactly at 12 feet high. Thank you
@alwaystinkering9579
@alwaystinkering9579 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, here you go: without casters the side is 68 3/4". With casters installed the side is 74 5/8" on mine. My model # is 63050. There is more than 1 model number but I'm not sure if that makes a difference. This height is going to make it very tight to stack like you want but keep in mind if it is always going to be stacked, you could cut off the connector part on the top of your second stage and gain about 3 3/4". That would probably work but would limit how that top stage could be used for future job sites. Hope that helps.

I would think yes as long as you cut the box open inside the car and remove it piece by piece not trying to move the whole carton. I assembled it alone no problem. It is a bit cumbersome and would be easier with help but, not absolutely required.
