I do think the comparison to Apocalypse is incorrect since Apocalypse is a straight up Alternate universe sequel. I think the best way to compare in terms of an Atlus game is Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker. As Record Breaker does what Vengeance is doing. It has the option to let you play the original story with no rewrites. And there's a whole other story to divulge in. Basically, having two campaigns in one game. Which fits for the comparison to Vengeance

I haven’t played record breaker yet, one of the few modern atlus games I haven’t touched (I played overclocked). I mentioned that I think it’s comparable to Apocalypse in terms of the amount of added content from the base game. I know that it’s a sequel so it’s different in that sense but it reused a ton of assets like the overworld map, sprites, battle system, etc with some QoL improvements

@@Merciless_Zero I wouldn’t say it’s as difficult as dark souls but it’s definitely harsh to newcomers. Before you understand the systems it’s very hard but once you learn everything it’s pretty smooth sailing

The thing about "unique skills" is i hope they all have a unique animation associated with them. Cuz i was very disappointed when all the "riders" unique skills looked like normal attacks.

I agree, the attack animations are some of the best parts of SMTV. I’m sure they’ll cut a few corners though as there are over 250 demons in the game

I’m interested in seeing how they’ll redeem themselves for the weak narrative in base game so I’d be buying anyways, but yes. The level scaling was certainly annoying

@@bluemori2822 yeah I guess that’s also a thing, I’ve only played 3 before 5, so in terms of story there wasn’t that much on the surface, so I mostly viewed smt from a gameplay perspective. Though it’d be interesting to see what changed in the story since it was kinda just there in the original

It More like persona 2 psp and persona 2 eternal punishment and persona q1 and q2 has fusion spells combos. I didn't include persona 3 fes or persona 3 and portable because it has fusion spells but only protagonist can use in journey. aigis did not had fusion spells in fes answer and I do not count all out attacks and did not count persona 4 and golden because fusion spells do not exist in that game and I do not include team combos in golden because it not under direct control of players it random change so it not exactly same mechanism and p5 and p5r you get the general idea?

I’m happy to see some more African Gods in SMT, especially Anansi. I wonder what other returning demons might be waiting for us in the future. Plus I hear that there might be additional DLC for game involving Maitreya, Krishna, and Satan.

4 apocalypse isn't a sequel, it's a different route

It’s kind of both, it starts in the endgame of the neutral route in SMT4 and overrides the original ending.

I’ve never played this game before but I wanna know is worth playing and does it have more action than Persona?

It’s definitely more combat focused than Persona. There are a few things that will make you feel at home as Persona is technically an SMT game and borrows elements from them, but atmosphere and plot are totally different. As for if it’s worth playing it depends what you’re looking for, if you like challenge and deep combat systems in your games I would recommend giving SMT a shot.

Pretty sure they've been making assets for demons since DX2 Liberation, theres tons of 3d models from the game that have not appeared in any SMT game yet.

I believe all of the DLC in base game is in Vengeance free of charge. But there is a new set of DLC demons exclusive to vengeance such as Dagda from SMTIV

This is the first ive heard of Bethel Afrika. I know this game is supposed to ha e a theme of vengeance for the oppressed. Is this game gonna get surprisingly political with its themes?
