In 1992 the Peugeot 905 prototype would have qualified midfield in F1 at Silverstone. The WSC protoypes were using F1 engines at the time so it's an interesting comparison of the different cars abilities.

Hey Jimmy, AC actually does simulate flatspotting, but I think you need to have damage turned on for it to have an effect. It feels well simulated on soft compound race tyres and can properly ruin your race if it happens!
@Jimmy_Broadbent7 жыл бұрын
Strange,I would have thought it would be under tyre wear. The more you know!
@6665hitm4k3r7 жыл бұрын
It's not really physicaly simulated, so not that you have a real flatspot building up in the tire. It just adds a canned rattle effect to the FFB once you do it and it increases tire wear. That said, I never had to pit for new tires in AC , when I locked them up. Should be alot more violent from my POV. :)

To answer Jimmy’s question, De Cesaris managed to make it up to the second place during the race, only to retire due to mechanical failure (if my memory does not fail me!). That car was a fast one and was making progress towards the front of the grid, not to remove anything from Schumacher’s performance.

Here's some info on how SCH shifted in 91-92: he would slam it into the gear he needed and rarely went through the box. Sometimes he'd go down in twos.

I built a 1/18 scale model of this. 1991 was the first year I fully followed Formula 1, and I loved this car. This was like I was watching someone play Grand Prix 2 with better graphics. I would love to race around the 1991 Grad Prix circuits, like Phoenix.

A nice trick while using H-pattern and need to downshift a couple of gears, is focus on brakeing as much as needed and near the end, heel & toe into the gear you wish. It's kind of usual to see Keiichi Tsuchiya doing that in the AE86 so other drivers do the same probably. :)

Great video, I think the car could go flat through Eau Rouge and Radillon, definitely if it was on the special qualifying slicks that were banned after 91, also Eau Rouge was more challenging to go flat through back then
@Jimmy_Broadbent7 жыл бұрын
Some friends and I had discussed that possibility. Unsure if it was just a trick of the eyes with the walls being closer back in the day.

Please don't be harsh on me. But if i'm correct, there was a discussion between Schumacher and his team-mate (Andrea De Cesaris) "leaked" prior to the '91 Spa race (somewhere in the Weekend, maybe after the training or after the Qualifyrounds) about some instability in the middle of Eau Rouge. And Schumacher does reply that he feels it too but got it sorted out after he goes full-throttle.

Hey Jimmy, what is that little purple thing you've put behind the brake pedal? I'm using the mod that comes with the T500RS, and although it did improve my ABS-less driving I'm still having a crapload of problems trailbraking.

I'd actually like an answer to this as well. The little squishy ball kinda speaks for itself, but this is the first time I've noticed something used to add to feeling of the brake pedal.

A little bit off topic but I've got a question... Which game has more realistic physics - RaceRoom Racing or Asetto Corsa?
@RoguexGuardian7 жыл бұрын
As amazing and awesome it is to watch, it also gets on my nerves slightly watching this car take Eau Rouge flat out. I love the Jordans as much as the next person, but it wasn't THAT good. The mod is well done, I want to blame Asetto's physics. Edit: Or the way elavation changes are measured. Either way, still a fun watch.
@crimson7647 жыл бұрын
RoguexGuardian Track is different compared to the one used back in '91. The kerbs were higher, and the walls were closer. That would/should inherit a lift off throttle in those corners.
@ShenLong9917 жыл бұрын
But also it seems that the telemetrics tells that Schumacher goes full-throttle through Eau Rouge in Spa at this time. well at least in Qualifying... so it is possible.

When double clutching go down more than one gear and the engine will help you slow down once in gear from say 5th to 3rd, 5th to 3rd then 1st(hairpins, tight anything), or 4th to 2nd, you get the idea it's just about knowing what's right for the complex ahead.
@gold3337 жыл бұрын
You mean when heel and toeing. Double declutching is something different, which not all drivers used. (It involves 2 clutch presses for every shift. So e.g. Downshifting from 6-1 would mean 10 clutch presses. ) Heel and toe is something else entirely.
@teemumyyrylainen92477 жыл бұрын
Jordan didnt have faulty clutch, Schumi burned the tiny clutch , on multiple starts. THere was restart after an crash, so he made 2 warmup starts, and then the clutch did let go on second real start. You could argue that it was weakness of tiny clutch on money saving perspective, but you could allso argue, that Schumi didnt have enough of experience yet behidn the f1 wheel and those restarts add up with him riding the clutch for too much on high revs to avoid stalling. Allso at that time the Spa start straight was on slight uphill, so it allso added up on extra wear and heat on clutch disk. Annother thing., this mod has ripped the sounds from rfactor 91 mod. =/ What i do not know, is that did they have permission and do they give the credit for it where it belongs.

MMMM I highly doubt a 1991 f1 car could take Eau Rouge flat.
@dubbe1867 жыл бұрын
With the modern Eau Rouge layout, it probably can quite easily. The kerb on entry and exit are a lot flatter nowadays. In those days there was a wall. Also, there's a story about Schumacher and this particular race told by Gary Anderson: Schumi's teammate, De Cesaris was struggling with the car in Eau Rouge and Blanchimont. Schumacher wasn't because apparently, the trick to keep the car from getting upset was to take those corners flat out. Pretty crazy.
