You did a very good job cutting and regluing all the parts of the dumpster, the result is great and the painting is top notch. The run was good and this fj45 has a great look 👌

Hello, Sator! I was worried that the body might look like it was sitting too high, but I didn't want to cut away the two vents below the radiator grille to get it lower as they are very typical of these FJs. I'm very happy that you think it looks good : )

A very fine job Del. Not a lot of modellers would have the guts to chop up a brand new shell, but your bravery paid off in spades. Fantastic job on the weathering and painting too. I never knew that Associated produced crawlers, I thought they just focussed on high end buggies like the RC10 which I remember well. Another cool run towards the end..👍🏻. With all these crawling vids that you keep producing, you're inspiring me to dust down my Chevy Blazer.
@Del350K42 жыл бұрын
Hello! I think you're right; I think Associated are more widely...ahem...associated with buggies, but they chose to dip a toe into the waters of the world of low speed and high angles of axle articulation at my preferred 1:12 scale, for which I'm very grateful. The world is positively crammed with 1:10 crawlers to suit every taste, and budget, but if you want 1:12 you have to choose between the likes of Fayee, WPL & MN Models, with their exploding propshafts and other quality issues, or the very expensive offerings from Cross RC & King Kong RC, and precious little in between. The CR12 straddles the gap superbly, offering far better quality than the really cheap stuff and real-world affordability to boot.

Excellent job Del your body work came out great and the run was really good it flew up the hill
@Del350K42 жыл бұрын
Hello, Brent! It did go well, didn't it? I had thought that the weight of the hard body might cause it to tip, either forwards/backwards or from side to side, but it seems pretty much unaffected. I took care not to make any changes to the chassis, so the lexan Powerwagon body will go straight back on if I should need to do that.

good job matching up the wheelbase with the body. Amazing works as always, my friend. Good to see that Rick managed to get a shave during the apocalypse lol

@Del350K42 жыл бұрын
Thanks, man : ) I did try to get a stock lexan CR12 body, but they are now unavailable, and this actually looks more like the real thing. I had feared that the weight would make the truck prone to tipping but in fact it seems almost completely unaffected.

Great work Del. It's a tricky choice cutting that rear bed to good effect. But u got it right! I have one of those bodies to do 'something' with sometime. That has helped with some wheelbase thoughts. The CR12 really is a nice capable machine. 😁
@Del350K42 жыл бұрын
I've previously built a really really short FJ45 body and the light grey one which appears in this video has also been shortened a little. I was therefore quite keen to do a longer wheelbase conversion. These bodies are supplied with such a ludicrously long rear overhang that, if you did want to go really long, you could! And, of course, with 3D printing you could make a really cool-looking 'extreme off-roader'-style rear body. You could build a 1:12 scale MST CMX FJ45!

Hello, Derek! Ha ha - Rick must be a bit disappointed about his lower limbs, but at least he has a true go-anywhere vehicle. And yes, thank you - my wife found a lump of knotted muscle in my back and massaged it away; the relief was wonderful! The following day I hesitated to sit up upon awakening, and, when I did pluck up the courage, found to my delight that it hardly hurt at all. I hope you are feeling better too...

@Del350K42 жыл бұрын
Actually I was just experimentally flexing his legs as far forward as they'd go when one really did snap off in my hand. I had intended to cut away a little bit of floor for his feet to poke through and keep him intact, but when that happened I just (rather crossly) bent the other leg forward till its pivot pin snapped. Still, these Walking Dead types are always having bits of them fall off, often with a gruesome squelch. It was actually a conversation with you that inspired me to do this build, by the way. I said that I'd planned to and had bought the body, but that I was happy with the looks of the lexan body once I'd fitted transparent windows and lights. You said that you'd still like to see it with a proper hard shell on it, so I have you to thank for spurring me on!
