This is both very insightful and very encouraging! I spent much of last year following the Internet community that's being formed around the next era of the Internet and of code, and what you mention about the implications of blockchains is only the start of the technology that's being worked on. From what I can tell from the trends of these communities, the Internet--more than this, the way we understand digital media--will be changing drastically within the decade. May our hope be in Christ--not in sword nor in shovel; May we serve him as Lord over both dirt and blood.

If we've reached the point (as your framing of this using passive words suggests) that we have no control over any of this, isn't every grumpy Luddite of the past amply vindicated, and more? Why do we not erect statues in the capitals of all wise countries to Ned Ludd, William Morris and their kind?

Probably the most ambitious of all of these projects is currently being done by a company whose owner is a believer of reformed theology. One minor quibble to an otherwise perceptive and useful analysis; the difference between authority and power. Power is the ability to influence something, in this case, behavior. Authority is the right to exercise power. You can gave power, without authority (think of a mugger with a gun). You can have authority, without power; think of the way that many parents raise their kids. In terms of your main point; Christians have authority, given to them by the King of Kings, but for a variety of reasons, lack power the actual ability to influence others. Now, understanding why Christians lack power, would indeed be an interesting discussion and most of us would like Mr. Wilson to discuss how we go about that.
@michaellautermilch91853 жыл бұрын
Your Bible already discusses it sir! The gospel is the power of God, Romans 1:16. Christians don't need to seek more power and influence for themselves, they need to practice being more dependent on God and His power. If you're feeling powerless it may be that God is trying to show you that He is powerful.

I'll leave this here for any angry idolaters who may want to troll this comment section. How do you get to hell? Very simple: claim that you're innocent. How do you get to heaven? Very simple: Admit that you're not Innocent, you're guilty and ask for mercy. How to know if you're guilty or not? Simply: Compare your life to the Ten Commandments God gave you in the Bible. Everyone agrees that if people followed the ten commandments there would be no need for governments or police. Do not lie. Do not steal. Do not commit adultery. Do not insult God by using his name as a cuss word. There are six more but let's just leave it at that. How many lies have you told in your life? Have you ever taken anything that didn't belong to you? Jesus said, if you look at a women lustfully you've already committed adultery in your heart with that woman. How many times a day do you do that? Do you use God's name as a cuss word? Would you do that with your own mother's name? If you answer these questions honestly you know that you're guilty. God can justly punish you and send you to hell. Ask him for mercy. His name is Jesus.

Uhm, we still live in a world where Satan is the lord of this world. Christ's kingdom is in the believers heart, but His kingdom will be here at His coming to institute the Millennium. I'm dispensational pretrib looking for His soon return. To all Dominionists and reconstructionists, Jesus will tell you, "ye know not what manner of spirit ye are". It's not our job to run the world, but rather to look for His soon return. Then there will be a new heaven and earth.

So when I speak of the last days, I am not speaking of the end of this world, for it is a play, which goes on and on and on. Having entered the play, you are always the same actor. You will play the rich man, the poor man, the beggar, and the thief, retaining the same identity. And when you reach the last days, a series of events that are mirrored in the story of Jesus Christ, will unfold in you in a first person, present tense experience. You will not observe it happening to another; you will experience it happening to you.
@rachellarisey3 жыл бұрын
The only issue I take with you, Pastor Wilson, is your belief that the church will usher in the Kingdom (your postmillenial eschatology). Now, granted, this eschatology really helps to ward off anxiety and trust the Lord. However, your encouragement for us to "assume the middle" sounds a lot like critical theory. Yep. It sounds a lot like critical race theory in which everyone is categorized as oppressed or the oppressor. Not everything boils down to those in power and those without power. That's what you're saying basically; that there were times in history when the church had more power and now we don't have as much power anymore. Right? Please clarify.
@oracleoftroy3 жыл бұрын
As postmil, I'd say that God already ushered in his Kingdom, the church. As promised, it started like a tiny pebble / mustard seed (40 people hiding in a room) and has grown to fill the whole world (currently around 3 billion at least nominally professing Christ's name), and there will be no end to the increase of his kingdom.

The Center is a good place on the political spectrum, to be spiritually centered is desirable... But anymore centrists are hated by the entire spectrum... The periphery soon must swirl like a black hole to center or the dark matter will continue to push the extremes to the limits of morality. The Common Threads that bind this Union have withstood their limit, tattered and worn, they must be woven again into one. That path at this juncture is littered with good intentions and worn out tools, and no effective message other than those of the Scripture (our GPS) so in my opinion it all starts with the truly elect *Christ, not the outcome of a predetermined election. No more golden calves, ditch the district of criminals and be governed by your allegiance to God✝️❤️🗽

The problem with the "center" is that it is a relative measure that is subjective, and everyone judges everyone else based on their own view. E.g. the rabid leftist who calls himself "center" judges everyone right of Mao as a right wing extremist. It's the fallacy of the middle.

Rather than preach the Gospel, we are to be the Gospel, that men may read us and see Christ
@kbconsul3 жыл бұрын
Our character and behavior must be that which will not turn those from the Gospel, but there's something called the Great Commission that implores us and even commands us to go out into all the world and teach what Jesus has taught us. That would be preaching the Gospel.
@twistedlimb40533 жыл бұрын
@@kbconsul Acts 1:8 is a statement of a spiritual truth neither imploring nor commanding us, it states we shall be witnesses, like it or not we are examples to the world. What kind of witness is determined by us and since men read before they hear, you better be doing before you be talking.

@@twistedlimb4053 I was referring to Matthew 28:18-20 (emphasis mine): Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. @@kbconsul I don't do religious code talk so you should have referenced the verse you were speaking of otherwise there is confusion and God is not the Author of confusion but of peace (1 Cor 14:33) for where there is envying and strife there is every evil work (Jas 3:16). As far as your reference in Mathew I don't see the word preach. It is an element of discipleship but not an end unto itself. In order to disciple or to teach you must be living an honest Godly life, constantly striving to show to yourself and the world the new creation God has installed in us at the New Birth.
