Yes, under the settings section there is an option titled "DAC Input," In this mode the DAP will work as a DAC/AMP for your PC!

It is possible, but it's not really streamlined. For watching KZbin, you would be better off using the iBasso DX320, the Sony WM1AM2, or the Cayin N8ii as they all come with full Android app stores on each unit. The Kann Max comes with apps under the services tab, but it does not include KZbin or a web browser. Hope this helps! 🙂

For the LCD-3 you would be better off with the Kann MAX, as the LCD-3 sounds it's best with lots of power. The DX320 will also work fairly well, but it will not be the ideal listening experience at higher volumes.

SE180 is generally better for IEMs and easy to drive headphones, the Kann Max is the best for driving full sized headphones!

With the Focal Stellia measuring at 35 Ohms with sensitivity of 106dB SPL, they are not that hard to drive. The KANN MAX will be more than enough to power the Focal headphone and with enough headroom to be very LOUD. Any of the Astell and Kern DAPs can provide enough power for the Stellia headphones, especially with a balanced connection. 🙂

The real measurement of Kann Max is around 440mw - 32ohm load, when he compared DX320 which have 1200mw - 32ohm load but he said Kann Max is much powerful is a joke. Yes, I own Kann Max myself and it's still underpower to drive my planar headphone.

Hey all. Great video. Entertaining and informative as always. I’m your stereotypical new guy to this audio world, and would like some advice. I have already purchased a pair of Focal Clear MG (not Pro model) headphones. I’m interested in pairing it with the Astell&Kern KANN MAX. I primarily listen to rock (Rage Against The Machine), reggae (Gregory Isaacs), hip hop (90’s, not the bs of today), and recently jazz (Chet Baker). Would the KANN MAX be a wise choice to max out (no pun intended) the capabilities of my Clear MG’s? If not, better alternatives? Also, any accessories you can recommend would be appreciated. I prefer a sound that is authentic and allows for the distinction between instruments. Thank you all. Looking forward to learning a lot more from your channel. Excellent resource.

The Kann MAX pairs very well with the Clear MG, especially for the genres you like the most. The Kann MAX has a clear and punchy bass for your rock, reggae, and hip hop music and it has crystal clear detail retrieval for your Jazz music!

Yes, you need to use the top two gain modes (High or Extreme) for the best sound, but it will drive the Aeon 2 very well!

The Kann Max is the best for full size headphones. The additional power the Kann Max can output means that it can compete with some desktop setups. The SE180 is better with easier to drive headphones and IEMs. It doesn't have the same output power, but it does have a very detailed and clear sound that works well with most genres.

Not at all, the Kann MAX's power is based on the gain stage used. Low Gain mode works very well with iEMs including the Pathfinder. Now if you were to set the Gain mode to "Super" (the highest setting) then that particular mode would be way too much for IEMs.

The alpha was tested by a european review site and, from memory, real power was only about 250mw into 32 ohms. That was balanced. The 12 volts is into 47K ohms. I imagine that the Max,s 15 volts is also into 47k. Shameful the way they mislead consumers with how they state the output power.

There are a variety of ways you could using an iPhone with this unit! Easiest would be Bluetooth DAC mode. It doesn't work in USB DAC mode with mobile phones though (like it does with computers). It's also worth pointing out that you can use the Android apps on this DAP and bypass the need to connect your phone to this DAP. 🙂

A&k loosing their believability on a daily basis. Peak voltage at no load = they are purposely hiding true wattage an boasting misleading figures. I highly doubt this thing has as much watt output as an M17 or 300max. How insulting to post such imaginary useless numbers for power. You need a real load to get actual wattage . The fact that they use a peak "no load" number, is really telling. It tells me that the number will fall dramatically on an actual load. My "guess" is that this unit would push about 1watt @ 30hm, and its all fake hype by A&K, wich lost my repect. To add salt in this wound, they didn't use AKM chip and went for LeSabre.
