this may sound dumb but do i need to do this when my truck is low on fuel or can it be done with a full tank of fuel?

His can be done anytime doesn’t matter if the tank is full or close to being empty.

When you purge the fuel system, where does the air go? My shop told me if I didn't do this correctly I would burn up my injectors. I assumed it would be a bit more involved.

Great video. Thanks. The dealer wanted 400 CDN so 300 USD. Another local garage was 100 for the filter and 2.5-3 hours of labour.....wtf.

No this is only for the eco diesel engine. Your 2009 ram 1500 does not have a replaceable fuel filter it’s integrated in the fuel pump.

good video but you dont have to dab around with that drain screw. just loosen the screw and leave it alone, once you turn and loosen that canister it releases the pressure and the diesel drains out by itself out of the the yellow screw drain.
