I have a 2020 ecodiesel. I’m about to hit. 200,000 miles.

Have you had any major issues?
@adammartin4906Ай бұрын
that's because you have the newer 3.0 EcoDiesel were they put forged internals and fixed the cam issue so yeah you should go 500,000 now that Chrysler fixed the issue but the problem is once a product gets a bad name it's over and now everyone will be scared of them and that's why they had to cancel the engine because you're not going to make profit off an engine that everyone's scared of period even though they did beef up those internals and cam. Another thing tons of people don't know is the last gen EcoDiesel is completely different engine than the ones that had issues because they replaced everything even the Def system was upgraded to a version were it intakes after the def part of the exhaust so it does not intake not one ounce of soot from the exhaust EGR system were the older ones breathed straight soot into the EGR.

Ran Amsoil in my Ecodiesel deleted and sold it at 100K cuz I needed a bigger truck to tow my camper(it wasn't a power issue, it was size). Each Time the oil analysis came back flawless at 15K mile intervals using just their entry level 5w40 Turbo truck diesel oil with 35" tires and towing regularly. When I had dealer covered free oil changes using T6, i had significant viscosity loss around 6-7K mile mark and the truck indicated 30-40% oil life remaining, obviously I had it changed due to the bad used oil analysis reports. After seeing those, I stopped getting the free oil and opted to go to amsoil and never looked back. Still use it in all my power equipment and my Larger 2500 Cummins today. Same thing, Used oil analysis comes back mint at 12-15 that ive tested so far. Ive opted to change it at that interval as I feel ive gotten a good use out of the oil at that point anyway. At 200K I had to pop the valve covers and do a valve lash on my 6.7 cummins and it was so clean it looked factory new. I was shocked. I expected it to have at least some varnish or something. it was spotless. These Ecodiesels definitely had a bad batch of bearings or some other defect like crank wobble, but running a great oil certainly doesn't hurt.

Yes! viscosity loss with cheap oil.

Very interesting on the Amsoil use ... I've got 65K miles on my 2016 Ram EcoDiesel. I'm changing oil at ~5K miles and using the Rotella T6 5w-40 as recommended. The engine is stock with no deletes and just the factory ECM reprogramming. I change oil at 5K miles just because the oil is so sooted up. I run Amsoil in all my musclecar/race car stuff; Z-rod and Dominator. I only run the T6 because of the factory recommendation. I was thinking of installing a bypass filter to try to remove some of the soot. Maybe I'll add the bypass filter and move to the Amsoil turbo truck oil. I'd also like to add a oil/air separator to the PCV line to keep from running the oil vapors back through the turbo and engine. I'm always paranoid about taking longer trips with the truck towing the trailer afraid that I'll be thousands of miles from home and have a catastrophic engine failure. I've kept my previous indestructible truck (1997 Ram 2500 with Cummins 12-valve) and think I'll rebuild that (no DEF, SCR, DPF, etc) and drive it for another 30 years. With all that is going on with Stellantis and my EcoDiesel experience, I wouldn't buy another new truck from them.

@@vjosephtrostI would only run T6 in my vehicles if I couldn’t get a better synthetic elsewhere. Schaefer’s, Diamond or Amsoil is all I’d even consider in my high dollar rigs, and Amsoil is my first pick.

@@vjosephtrostthe soot is from EGR. If your oil is ugly imagine how bad your intake manifold looks. 😬

I've got a 2016 Dodge ram EcoDiesel with 350,000 km on it and not a single thing wrong with it. She runs beautiful. Heats up doesn't waste as much diesel and to think I don't have anything deleted. I just have an intake, a super chip subs and just take care of it. I have it plugged in when it goes °5 and I am also running that special oil the rotella that does help a lot because these motors are made in Italy and even the Italian brochure for the motor says always use rotella

I put a 2022 motor in mine. When the original 2016 engine blew at a 182000 miles. Since I put the new motor in, I have switched to only am'soil in all of my vehicles. Because the data doesn't lie when they do. The oil tests on it definitely delete your Eco diesel engines. Though it makes a huge difference in longevity And if your 2016 engine blows up due to the common issue, they have put the third generation Eco. Diesel engine in it, it is not that difficult and is a way better engine.

How much did it cost for the new Ecodiesel engine. I didn’t know the 2020 Ecodiesel engine was available for 2014-2019 Ecodiesel models.

I have a 2015 ecodiesel with 450,000km and running fine. having said that I bought a 2018 with 110,000kms that has a brand new engine because the previous owner seized the original engine at 108,000kms...

I got a 2015 Ram Ecodiesel with 263,000kms on it. Amsoiled since Dodge changed the oil recommendations to 5W40. I also changed all the gear fluids to Amsoil as soon as I could. The only engine issues I had was the gummed up intake. I changed that at 234,000kms. I just added a catch can at 263,000kms. I had one on my 1998 Dakota 5.2L Magnum so I saw how they worked.

what oil did he use ?
@BradSears-w8k2 ай бұрын
He did say that the truck was deleted EGR crap going into the intake Making sure that changing your oil religiously maintenance is a key with these motors. Some people just don’t get it. They trash every car they drive and then cry about it deleting the EGR is a huge fact on how long this engine will last.

Funny same thing is happening to me righ to now. 330k miles, runs great, exhaust gad in the coolant. 10k mile oil changes with nothing but t6. Debating on doing the headgaskets or getting a rebuild done.
