I do agree. The v12 has a level of aural feel that the v8 burble doesn’t have. Also, v12 engines, being in perfect balance (6+6 on each bank) have the ultimate refinement, and could rev much higher than a comparable v8 engine. There’s a reason why Rolls Royce stubbornly sticks to the v12 engines.

I mean, while reviewing an electric car, we may still let it slide. Not when you are driving a piece of art with an ICE. You compliment fine engineering and mechanical marvel by wearing a mechanical timepiece with history and creative brilliance. Not telling you to rob a bank and settle for a 28-520 movement by Patek, but a humble 6R55 like in the new Seiko SPB455 would also be OK compared to a disastrous smartwatch. I see Hormazd always wearing an actual watch, last seen sporting an oversized IWC Big Pilot on the Mumbai Coastal Road video. Food for thought! Beyond that, you are an amazing automobile host and journalist. Keep rocking 😎

None! That's relegated to history … Now - Mercedes on the other hand! A few parts (touch sensitive buttons on the steering wheel, the indicator stalks to name two) and of course the AMG engine (although it's been retuned, has different cam profiles, larger turbos and a higher compression ratio).

Aston Martin and Maserati are two of the most overhyped brands in the world. Terrible products and they cant even make good engines themselves.
@anandmk998 ай бұрын
True, the British are only good at designing. Engine and reliability is just out of their capacity.
@SouryaDP3 ай бұрын
@@anandmk99 To be honest, other marques like Porsche or Lamborghini had the benefit of backing from massive car conglomerates such as VW. So they get massive subsidies and funding for effective R&D for developing engines. Aston martin on the other hand, had bounced around from owner to owner, going from tractor manufacturers to property investors and so on, who never invested enough funding to kickstart R&D on engines or chassis works. Even after being taken over by Ford, it wasn't given its freedom to invest in research into its own engines, which forced Aston Martin to fabricate its V12 engine out of two Ford V6 engines stuck together (while they modified everything with the help of Cosworth tuners and made it legendary). And now, after struggling with independent ownership again, no wonder Aston Martin has to outsource its engines from Mercedes AMG group. In fact, the market had labelled Aston Martin as "perennially loss-making company" because it was always being bounced around between different owners. It is only now, with outsourcing to different marques like Mercedes AMG, Geely Motors, Lucid Motors, and gaining investments from sources like the Saudi Public Fund and investment consortiums that Aston Martin finally is seeing some meager profits. Unlike Porsche and Lamborghini, who had the R&D might of VW backing its ambitious engine development and chassis research projects, Aston never had such luck in its life. So no wonder the poor DB12 has to make do with a Mercedes AMG motor.
