the fact that Newey wasn’t fully satisfied probably encouraged him to try again with the RB17.

Yeah but the rb17 is a track only car so it's gonna be easier to achieve his performance targets
@F1ll1nTh3Blanks2 жыл бұрын
@@theracingban It was the AMR Pro, that he wasn't satisfied with. Aston lacked the budget to allow Newey and RBAT to really stretch their legs. They ended up being hamstrung by having to use binned chassis and powered train rather than something more grounds up.

@theracingban2 жыл бұрын
Quite a lot I'm sure but I would like to see an indepth on that
@BSport3202 жыл бұрын
The plate hurts the flow underneath the car quite a lot, since it’s also in the middle of the car. The rear plate reduces the cooling outlet and needs to be metal due to the temperatures. This won’t matter for most customers but removing the plates would help on track.
@slaughterer972 жыл бұрын
@@BSport320 According to Aston Martin employees, as the car is designed with the plate in mind, the car performs better with it on. I'm sure if you didn't need it you could do better but they claim its good with it on.
@BSport3202 жыл бұрын
@@slaughterer97 it would be interesting to know in detail how it performs better with plate. Less drag? More downforce? Better cooling?
@slaughterer972 жыл бұрын
@@BSport320 The plate adds a bit of drag and a decrease in total downforce, but almost negligible amounts, the main difference is in aero balance, and as the valk is set up for the aero balance with the plate, it is not recommended to take it off.

Torsional stiffness requirements for an f1 car and also the sort of car the Valkyrie is are very difficult if not impossible to specify. Everyone ALWAYS says they want the highest stiffness possible but this always has side effects in packaging and weight. In all the places I have worked no one has ever been able to give me or justify a vehicle stiffness target figure for this type of car. In road cars the body structure torsional stiffness requirement is normally related back to achieving a 'massed up' first torsional frequency purely for NVH reasons.

Why don’t current F1 cars use the MGU-K for reverse? wouldn’t it make the gearbox slightly simpler and lighter without the reverse gear?
@mars2.0862 жыл бұрын
Not sure but probably because of rules
@BSport3202 жыл бұрын
In F1 the MGU-K is next to the engine block and connects to the front of the crankshaft. So you cannot use it to reverse, otherwise you would have to turn the ICE the other way around. If the electric motor is integrated in the gearbox, you can open the clutch and reverse electrically without using the ICE

Gordon Murray's T.50 uses a Na high rev 4 l V12 from Cosworth instead of 6.5 l like the Valkyrie but it's also from Cosworth. Are both engines completely different or they share most parts?

Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!

Likes: sportscars should be low and the convertible looks well executed. Effective "willy waver" if that is your thing (I'm not a footballer, sheik, oligarch or hedge fund gangster). Dislikes: conception is completely hyper - out of touch with reality. It cannot realistically manage the shopping, touring, rallying, driving on back roads or even enter Le Mans. But of course there is more, a 6.5 litre V12 that sounds like a washing machine at low speed around town is very uncool. The big boots and fuel consumption suggest that anyone who cares at all about the Earth would park this in their Bond villain lair on blocks and do their part for the future.

Cars like this are actually irrelevant for active car enthusiasts. You won't see them in drag strips, in time attacks, nor in autocross. They will most probably just be sitting on car shows, coffee shops, or garage as they are mostly luxury pieces and computer game cars.
