very bad from astro that does not support 2.1 hdmi. Why do you need a ps5 if you continue to play at 60hz. Switching to a TV would be a step backwards for me. I have a 4K monitor myself and would like to play in 4K 120hz but unfortunately my monitor does not have an optical input. The usb sound is terrible without the optical input. So you have to rely on the optical input. I haven't found a way around this yet. Because I also want to exploit the full performance. Maybe someone reads this and can help me get the best performance from the Astro headphones, PS5 and play with a monitor in 4K 120hz?

Just like how they claim there is no audio quality loss over USB compared to optical. I have A50 Gen4's and had to resort to a 120$ aduio extractor to be able to play with good audio 1440p 120hz.

The astro adapter does NOT support 3840x2160 @ 120Hz ! That’s pretty messed up. The adapter is only rated at 2.0b, which for me, on my TV only gives me the option of: 3840x2160 @ 60Hz 1920x2180 @ 120Hz I’m omitting the 2k parts (1440p) because that doesn’t matter to me. A 2.0b rating only gets you 14.4Gbit/sec. You need a 2.1 rating, which gets you 42.6Gbit/sec. I’m not the biggest fan of Astro, for pulling this crap

You can only get 4k 120 with HDMI 2.1, so you'd need a TV or monitor that has those outputs. And an extractor with HDMI 2.1 input/output

I have read others say they couldn't get 120 or vrr, and I know astro said last year it could do 1440p 144hz but no vrr (falsely claiming hdmi2.0b doesn't support vrr). Looking to split audio to my 1440p monitor but won't at the risk of losing vrr on my Series S. Thanks!

It does not. It's an oversight by Astro. Not only does 1440p at 120hz not work with it on the Series X, but neither does VRR. Huge disappointment and misstep by Astro. If anyone knows of an adapter that is capable of both, please let me know.

Have tried a few hdmi splitters and hdmi audio extractors, none of which will carry over vrr since they use their own EID and don't pass through your monitor's. Oh well, will wait and see, but prob will just end up dealing with my current audio situation for my monitor until 1440p monitors with better HDR release in the next few years.

Hello good, a question. Right now the PS5 update of 1440p compatibility has just come out. I wanted to know if this device allows 1440p with the 120hz that some console games allow. Most TVs or monitor that are 4k60 will be 1440p60. You have to invest in a 120Hz native display because 60p is the max even if it accepts the signal
